The Holy Qor-aan 002:008
خَتَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوۡبِهِمۡ وَعَلٰى سَمۡعِهِمۡؕ وَعَلٰىٓ اَبۡصَارِهِمۡ غِشَاوَةٌ وَّلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِيۡمٌ
Kha-ta-mul-laa-ho-alaa-qo-loo-bay-him-wa-alaa-sum-aiy Him-wa-alaa-ub-saa-ray-him-ghi-shaa-wa-toon Wa-la-hoom-azaa-boon-azee-m.
Allah has sealed their hearts and their hearing. And on their eyes is a covering. And for them is a grievous punishment.
- خَتَمَ — Kh-ta-ma…(ul) — Sealed (= Closed; set a seal; shut down)
- اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
- عَلٰى — Alaa — On (= Above; for; on top of; over; upon)
- قُلُوۡب — Qo-loo-bay– Hearts (= Minds. Souls. Ability to think, choose, decide and act in appropriate manner both physically and spiritually)
- هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to the disbelievers described in the previous verse)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses; also; but; additionally; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- عَلٰى — Alaa — On (= Above; for; on top of; over; upon)
- سَمۡع — Sum-ae — Hearing (= Ears; ability to hear and listen physically and spiritually)
- هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to the disbelievers described in the previous verse)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses; also; but; additionally; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- عَلٰى — Alaa — On (= Above; for; on top of; over; upon)
- اَبۡصَارِ — Ub-saa-ray — Eyes (= Sight; vision. Ability to see physically and spiritually)
- هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to the disbelievers described in the previous verse)
- غِشَاوَةٌ — Ghi-shaa-wa-toon — Covering (= Curtain; drape; veil hiding plain view; dimming effect)
- وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses; also; but; additionally; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- لَ — Laa — For (= For any item, person or thing)
- هُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to the disbelievers described in the previous verse)
- عَذَابٌ — Azaa-boon — Punishment (= Chastisement; doom; penalty; recompense; torment; torture)
- عَظِيۡمٌ — Azee-m — Grievous (= Awful; big, great; tremendous)
