The Holy Qor-aan 002:076
اَفَتَطۡمَعُوۡنَ اَنۡ يُّؤۡمِنُوۡا لَـكُمۡ وَقَدۡ كَانَ فَرِيۡقٌ مِّنۡهُمۡ يَسۡمَعُوۡنَ کَلَامَ اللّٰهِ ثُمَّ يُحَرِّفُوۡنَهٗ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا عَقَلُوۡهُ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ
Aa-fa-tut-ma-oo-na-un-yoe-may-noo-la-koom
Wa-qud-kaa-na-fa-ree-qoon-min-hoom
Yus-ma-oo-na-ka-laa-mul-la-hay
Thoom-ma-yo-hur-ray-foo-na-hoo-min-bau-day-maa-aqa-loo-ho
Wa-hoom-yau-la-moo-n.
Do you then wish that they believe in you
When a party among them surely
Hears the word of Allah
Then they twist it around after they have understood it
And they know full well.
- اَ — Aa — Do (= Question mark like Are? Can? Have? Shell? Will?)
- فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; as a result; so; thereafter; therefore; yet)
- تَطۡمَعُوۡنَ — Tut-ma-oo-na — You Wish ** (= Aspire; covet; desire; entertain; expect; hope; like; love want; want greedily; wish; indulge in wishful thinking)
- اَنۡ — Un — That (= Since; so that; for the purpose)
- يُّؤۡمِنُوۡا — Yoe-may-noo — They believe (= v., Acknowledge; believe; enter your religion; have faith; trust)
- لَ — La –In ( = For the benefit, purpose or reason; on account of; with intent to or object of; towards)
- کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. The Holy Qor-aan and other scriptures state that way when both men and women are the addressees)
- وَ — Wa — While (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; and; also; but; more over; though; when; yet; whereupon)
- قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= Lays emphasis by absolutely; categorically; certainly;
definitely, doubtlessly, positively, specially or verily) - كَانَ — Kaa-na — Has been (= v., Conveys continuation; ‘He in 3rd person ‘used to’.
This reflects an act’s continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future – like ‘continued doing’ or ‘went on doing’) - فَرِيۡقٌ — Fa-ree-qoon — Some groups (= Accomplices; association; company; faction; party)
- مِّنۡ — Min — Among (= From the class, category, count, kind, persons or out of)
- ھُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Ref here is to the Israelites)
- يَسۡمَعُوۡنَ — Yus-ma-oo-na — They hear (= The act of sound being audible through one’s ears; heed listen; pay attention; respond)
- کَلَامَ — Kalaa-m..(ul) — The Word (= Announcement; assignment; broadcast; command; Commandment; decree; dictate; direction; Holy Book; inspiration; message; proof; revelation; sign; scripture)
- اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
- ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; subsequently; thereafter)
- يُحَرِّفُوۡنَ — Yo-hur-ray-foo-na — They twist (= Change in a detrimental manner, distort, make a thing curved and crooked, pervert or tamper with)
- هٗ — Hoo — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid کَلَامَ اللّٰهِ — the Word of God)
- مِنۡ — Min — From (= Out from the class, category, count, kind or person of)
- بَعۡدِ — Bau-day — After (= Behind; later)
- مَاۤ — Maa — What (= All that; if; whatever; whatsoever; when; whenever)
- عَقَلُو — Aa-qa-loo — Understood (=Acted intelligently. Became knowledgeable, aware or wise about the کَلَامَ اللّٰهِ i.e., Word of God. Learned. Comprehended. Knew. Used intelligence)
- هُ — Ho — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid کَلَامَ اللّٰهِ — the Word of God)
- وَ — Wa — While (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; and; also; but; more over; though; when; yet; whereupon)
- ھُمۡ — Hoom — The- (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Ref here is to the Israelites)
- يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ — Yau-la-moo-n — Know (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person., Knowing the consequences of their calumny and enormity of their prior wrongs)
