The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                               002:080

 

فَوَيۡلٌ لِّلَّذِيۡنَ يَكۡتُبُوۡنَ الۡكِتٰبَ بِاَيۡدِيۡهِمۡؕ ثُمَّ يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ هٰذَا مِنۡ عِنۡدِ اللّٰهِ لِيَشۡتَرُوۡا بِهٖ ثَمَنًا قَلِيۡلًا  فَوَيۡلٌ لَّهُمۡ مِّمَّا کَتَبَتۡ اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ وَوَيۡلٌ لَّهُمۡ مِّمَّا يَكۡسِبُوۡنَ‏

 

Fa-wai-loon-lil-la-zee-na-yuk-to-boo-nul-kay-taa-ba-bay-ai-dee-him
Thoom-ma-ya-qoo-loo-na-haa-zaa-min-in-dil-laa-hay
Lay-yush-ta-roo-bay-he-tha-ma-nun-qa-lee-lun
Fa-wai-loon-la-hoom-mim-maa-ka-ta-but-ai-dee-him
Wa-wai-loon-la-hoom-mim-maa-yuk-say-boo-n.

 

So unfortunate it is for those who write the book with their hands.
Then they say this is really from Allah
So that with that they take a paltry price.
So it is for unfortunate for them for what their hands write.
And it is unfortunate for them for what they earn.

 

  • فَ — Fa — Thus (= Consequently; as a result; so; thereafter; therefore; yet)
  • وَيۡلٌ۬ — Wai-loon…(l) — Unfortunate (= Painful chastisement; how sad; what a misfortune; woe)
  • لِّ — L…(il) — For ( = For the purpose or reason; on account of; with intent to)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ –La-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. All those articles, things or persons)
  • يَكۡتُبُوۡنَ — Yuk-to-boo-na..(ul) — Write (= Penn down; recorder; scribe)
  • الۡكِتٰبَ — Ul-kay-taa-ba — The Book (= n., The Divine Directive of Commands, Prohibitions   and Regulations. Holy Scripture. See verse 002:003)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= This word in Arabic literally means ‘with’)
  • اَيۡدِيۡ — Ai-dee — Hands (= The terminal parts of the arm below the wrist)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to writers who allege that their writings are The Book)
  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; subsequently; thereafter)
  • يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ — Ya-qoo-loona — They say (= v., pr-t, pl, m, 3rd person. Announce; call; broadcast; convey; declare; demand; direct; explain; elaborate; expound; inform; instruct; mutter; object; preach; profess; reply; respond; specify; state; tell; utter)
  • هَـٰذَا — Haa-za — This (= The article, thing or person present before the talker)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among the class, category, count, kind or persons)
  • عِنۡدِ — In-d…(il) — From (= In the counting, estimation, eyes front, near, presence or sight of. Close at hand. With.   The best translation of both words  مِنۡ  and عِنۡدِ  is from, but saying ‘from from’ in English is uncommon and saying ‘really from’ is normal and acceptable)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • لِ — Lay — So that (= Because; due to; for the benefit, purpose or reason; on account of; with intent to or object of)
  • يَشۡتَرُوۡا — Yush-ta-roo — Take (= Barter; buy and sell; exchange; purchase; traffic; trade)
  • بِ — Bay –With (= This word in Arabic literally means ‘with’)
  • هٖ — He — That (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to what they wrote)
  • ثَمَنًا — Tha-ma-nun — Price (= Consideration paid and accepted in an exchange for an article bought or sold; end; gain; profit; sum; value)
  • قَلِيۡلًا — Qa-lee-lun — Paltry (= Insignificant comparatively; miserable; small; tiny. Also, little in quality or quantity; short while in time)
  • فَ — Fa — Thus (= Consequently; as a result; so; then; therefore; yet)
  • وَيۡلٌ۬ — Wai-loon…(l) —  Unfortunate (= Painful chastisement; how sad; what a misfortune; woe)
  • لَّ — La — For ( = For the purpose or reason; on account of; with intent to)
  • ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom…(m) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to writers who allege that their writings are The Book)
  • مِّمَّا — Mim-ma — For what (= Combination of two words. The 1st مِنۡ ‘min’ means ‘ ‘Among or from the class, category, count, kind, persons or out of.’ The 2nd مَا ‘maa’ means ‘All that; what; whatever; any time; when; whenever.’ Thus the combination means ‘For what; out of what; concerning, regarding, relative to; thereby’)
  • کَتَبَتۡ — Ka-ta-but — Wrote (= Conveyed; penned down; recorded; scribed)
  • اَيۡدِيۡ — Ai-dee — Hands (= The terminal parts of the arm below the wrist)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to writers who allege that their writings are The Book)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • وَيۡلٌ۬ — Wai-loon…(l) — Unfortunate (= Painful chastisement; how sad; what a misfortune; woe)
  • لَّ — La — For ( = For the purpose or reason; on account of; with intent to)
  • ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom…(m) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to writers who allege that their writings are The Book)
  • مِّمَّا — Mim-maa — For what (= See مِّمَّا above this Combination of two words)
  • يَكۡسِبُونَ — Yuk-say-boo-n — Earn (= Gain or return received for work, effort or attempt done including evil deeds)
