وَاِذۡ اَخَذۡنَا مِيۡثَاقَكُمۡ لَا تَسۡفِكُوۡنَ دِمَآءَكُمۡ وَلَا تُخۡرِجُوۡنَ اَنۡفُسَكُمۡ مِّنۡ دِيَارِكُمۡ ثُمَّ اَقۡرَرۡتُمۡ وَاَنۡـتُمۡ تَشۡهَدُوۡنَ‏

 

Wa-iz-aa-khuz-naa-me-thaa-qa-koom
Laa-tus-fay-koo-na-day-maa-aa-koom
Wa-laa-tookh-ray-joo-na-unfo-sa-koom-min-day-yaa-ray-koom
Thoom-ma-uq-rur-toom-wa-un-too-tush-ha-doo-n.

 

And remember when We took your Pledge
“Do not shed your blood.
And do not expel yourselves from your homes.
Then you ratified it and you witnessed it.”

  • وَ — Wa — And  (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses; also; but; additionally; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • اِذۡ — Iz — When (= Behold; call to mind, recall; remember or think of the time, event, occasion, opportunity or time)
  • اَخَذۡ  — Aa-khuz — Took (= Caught; drew; grabbed; held; obtained; received; secured; seized)
  • نَآ — Naa — We (= pro., pl., m & f., 1st person. Used with God’s name it is the authoritative way a higher-up talks to a subordinate
  • مِيۡثَاقَ — Me-thaa-qa — Pledge (= n., An arrangement, assurance, promise or undertaking made unilaterally (by-one-side) vouching that its maker will always honor it. For an arrangement or agreement between 2-or-more-parties, see Note 003:188)
  • کُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., m. 2nd person.  You.   The reference is to the بَنِىۡٓ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ. The Holy Qor-aan and other scriptures state that way when they address both men and women)
  • لَا — Laa — No (= Absolute denial; never; not at all; total negation)
  • تَسۡفِكُوۡنَ — Tus-fay-koo-na — Shed (= Cause to flow / spill. Kill. Murder. Slaughter. Slay)
  • دِمَآءَ — Day-maa-aa — Blood (= The bodily fluid in animals that delivers necessary substances as nutrients and oxygen to the cells and transports the metabolic waste products away from the body)
  • کُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., m. 2nd person.   You.   The reference is to the بَنِىۡٓ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ. The Holy Qor-aan and other scriptures state that way when they address both men and women)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses; also; but; additionally; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • لَا– Laa — No, not (= Absolute denial; never; not at all; total negation)
  • تُخۡرِجُوۡنَ — Tookh-ray-joo-na — Expel (= Banish; deport; exile; throw out; transportation for life; turn out)
  • اَنۡفُسَ — Un-fo-sa — Selves (= pl., Group of hearts, minds, people, persons and souls)
  • کُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., m. 2nd person.  You.   The reference is to the بَنِىۡٓ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ. The Holy Qor-aan and other scriptures state that way when they address both men and women)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — Among (= From the class, category, count, kind, persons or out of)
  • دِيَار — De-yaa-ray — Homes (= pl., Dwellings. Habitats. Lodgings. Residences. Also cities and villages, area and territory)
  • کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m. 2nd person.   You.   The reference is to the بَنِىۡٓ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ. The Holy Qor-aan and other scriptures state that way when they address both men and women)
  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; subsequently; thereafter)
  • اَقۡرَرۡ — Uq-rur-toom — Promised (= Affirmed; agreed; confirmed; consented; entered in a pact; pledged; solemnly declared)
  • تُمۡ — Toom — You (= pl., m., 2nd person.  You.   The reference is to the بَنِىۡٓ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ. The Holy Qor-aan and other scriptures state that way when they address both men and women)
  • وَ — Wa — And  (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses; also; but; additionally; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • اَنۡ — Un — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily)
  • تُمۡ — Toom — You (= pl., m., 2nd person.   You.   The reference is to the بَنِىۡٓ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ. The Holy Qor-aan and other scriptures state that way when they address both men and women)
  • تَشۡهَدُوۡنَ — Tush-ha-doo-n — Witnessed (= v., Affirmed.   Authenticated.   Certified. Confessed.   Ratified.   Testified.   Verified.   Also noticed, saw and were involved as the witnesses throughout the process of finalizing the terms of the Covenant with them)
