اَلَّذِيۡنَ اٰتَيۡنٰهُمُ الۡكِتٰبَ يَعۡرِفُوۡنَهٗ كَمَا يَعۡرِفُوۡنَ اَبۡنَآءَهُمۡؕ وَاِنَّ فَرِيۡقًا مِّنۡهُمۡ لَيَكۡتُمُوۡنَ الۡحَـقَّ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُوۡنَؔ‏

 

Ul-la-zee-na-aa-tai-naa-ho-mool-kay-taa-ba                                                                                  Yau-ray-foo-na-hoo-ka-maa-yau-ray-foo-na-ub-naa-aa-hoom                                                Wa-in-na-free-qum-min-hoom-la-yuk-to-moo-nul-huq-qa                                                      Wa-hoom-yau-la-moon. 

 

Those whom We gave the Book                                                                                                Recognize it the way they recognize their sons.                                                                And doubtlessly a group among them conceal the truth                                               And they know it.  

 

  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those whom (= pl., m, 3rd person. All those articles, things or persons)
  • اٰتَيۡ — Aa-tai — Gave (= Adduced; brought; delivered; entrusted; gave; produced; showed)
  • نَآ — Naa — We (= pro., pl., m., 1st person. Used with God’s name it reflects the authoritative way a higher-up talks to a subordinate)
  • هُمُ — Ho-mo…(ol) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to people of the Book)
  • الۡكِتٰبَ — Kay-taa-ba — The Book (= 1. The Holy Scripture. The Decreed part of the religion. The Testament that holds good and eternally operative. The Holy Direction of commands, rules and regulations The Spiritual Code codifying the rules of universal application. The Divine Directive of Commandments and Prohibitions.2. A collection of mandated, ordered, prescribed, preserved, recorded, written do’s and don’ts. 3. Authentic penned down material in black & white)
  • يَعۡرِفُوۡنَ — Yau-ray-foo-na — Recognize (= Identify; know well)
  • هٗ — Hoo –It (= pro., s., m., in 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid ‘Book’)
  • کَمَا — Ka-maa — The way (= Combination of two words. The first word is كَ that means ‘as if it were; like; resembling; similar to’. The second word is مَا that means ‘all that, what, whatever, whatsoever.’ The combination کَمَا means ‘as if it were; identical to, in the fashion, line, manner, method, or style of resembling; similar to)
  • يَعۡرِفُوۡنَ — Yau-ray-foo-na — Recognize (= Identify; know well)
  • اَبۡنَآءَ — Ub-naa-aa — Sons (= pl., Boys; men; male family members; male children)
  • ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to people of the Book)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • اِنَّ — In-na ** — Doubtlessly (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; earnestly; indeed; in all seriousness; positively; really; surely; truly; verily)
  • فَرِيۡقًا — Free-qu…(m) — A group (= Accomplices; association; a number of; band; class; clique; company; division; faction; part; party; section; selection; some only of a whole lot)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — Among (= From the class, category, count, kind, persons or out of)
  • ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to people of the Book)
  • لَ — La ** — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; in all seriousness; positively; really; surely; truly; verily. Read our Note ‘2 words of Emphasis used together‘)
  • يَكۡتُمُوۡنَ — Yuk-to-moon — Conceal (= Deliberately and intentionally hide and keep secret)
  • الۡحَـقُّ — Ul-huq-qa — The Truth (= Appropriate; appropriateness; equitable; in equity.  In justice; just cause; justified conduct; justification. Fair; in fairness and propriety. Suitability; suitable.  Reasonableness; solid good reason. Right; right Faith; exact particulars; total truth; precise truth; truthfulness)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to people of the Book)
  • يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ — Yau-la-moona — Know (= v., pl., Have the information and knowledge; are aware; know the consequence of their calumny and enormity; deliberately;  knowingly; with full recognition)
