The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                  002:175

 

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ يَكۡتُمُوۡنَ مَآ اَنۡزَلَ اللّٰهُ مِنَ الۡکِتٰبِ وَ يَشۡتَرُوۡنَ بِهٖ ثَمَنًا قَلِيۡلًا ۙ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ مَا يَاۡكُلُوۡنَ فِىۡ بُطُوۡنِهِمۡ اِلَّا النَّارَ وَلَا يُکَلِّمُهُمُ اللّٰهُ يَوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَکِّيۡهِمۡ ۖۚ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ اَ لِيۡمٌ‏

 

In-nul-la-zee-na-yuk-to-moo-na-maa-un-za-lul-laa-ho-may-nul-kay-taa-by
Wa-yush-ta-roo-na-bay-he-tha-ma-nunn-qa-lee-lunn
Olaa-aiy-ka-maa-yau-ko-loo-na-fee-bo-too-nay-him-il-lun-naa-ra
Wa-laa-yo-kul-lay-mo-ho-mool-laa-ho-yao-mul-qe-yaa-ma-tay
Wa-laa-yo-zuk-kee-him–wa-la-hoom-azaa-boon-alee-m

 

Surely those who conceal what Allah has entrusted from the Book
And they trade that for a paltry price
They never put in their bellies except the fire
And Allah will not speak to them on the Judgment Day
And He will not cleanse them. And for them is a painful punishment.

 

  • اِنَّ — In-na…(ul) — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively, really; surely; truly; verily)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Ref to the ‘disbelievers’)
  • يَكۡتُمُوۡنَ — Yuk-to-moo-na — Conceal (= Deliberately and intentionally hide, keep secret or suppress any part of the teachings)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — That (= All that; what; whatever)
  • اَنۡزَلَ — Un-za-la..(ul) — He entrusted ** (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Dispatched; gave; granted; inspired, revealed. Handed. laid, lowered or sent down. Also, delivered; landed; provided; released; supplied.  ** See Note 002:005a)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • مِنَ — May-n..(ul) — From (= A part from or out of the class, category, count, kind of several articles, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • الۡكِتٰبِ — Kay-taa-bay — The Book (= 1. The Divine Directive of Commands, Prohibitions, Rules and Regulations.  Holy Scripture.  Perfect Book Testament that holds good and is operative eternally.  Decreed part of a religion.  Spiritual Code codifying the rules of universal application.  2.  The Collection of mandated, ordered, prescribed, preserved, recorded, written Do’s and Don’ts.  3.  Authentic penned down material in black and white)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • يَشۡتَرُوۡنَ — Yush-ta-roo-na — Trade (= Barter; buy and sell; exchange; purchase; traffic; take)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= The Arabic word بِ literally means ‘with’)
  • هٖ — He — That (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the ‘part of the Book’)
  • ثَمَنًا — Tha-ma-nunn — Price (= Consideration paid and accepted in an exchange for an article bought or sold; end; gain; profit; sum; value)
  • قَلِيۡلًا — Qa-lee-lunn — Paltry (= A bit; a few; a short while in time; comparatively insignificant; less, little, small or tiny in number, quality or quantity; miserably low)
  • اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ — Olaa-aiy-ka — They (= All those acts; facts, persons or things. Here the word refers to those who conceal the revealed parts of the Book)
  • مَا — Maa — Never (= Absolutely not; no; not all)
  • يَاۡكُلُوۡنَ — Yau-ko-loo-na — Put (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Consume; devour; dine; eat; feed; fill; gulp; insert; intake; partake; put; swallow)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Inside a duration, event time, place, period, thing or situation)
  • بُطُوۡنِ — Bo-too-nay — Bellies (= n., pl of  بَطۡنِ   that means stomach and belly.  Put inside their bodies)
  • هِمۡ — Him –Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. All aforesaid who conceal)
  • اِلَّا — Il-la…(un) — Except (= Apart from; but; besides; excluding; save; unless)
  • النَّارَ — Naa-ra — The Fire (= Rapid sustained chemical reaction releasing heat and light)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Naught; neither; never; no; one; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • يُكَلِّمُ — Yo-kul-lay-mo — He will talk (= v., Affectionately and kindly does or will … address, bestow a favor, communicate, converse, say or speak. A/t/a Admonish; preach; profess)
  • هُمُ — Ho-mo…(ol) –Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person.  All aforesaid who conceal)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • يَوۡم — Yao-ma..(ul) — Day (= s., A period, term or time that ends; juncture)
  • الۡقِيٰمَةِ‌ — Qe-yaa-mah — Judgment (= Reckoning; Resurrection; Ultimate settlement)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Naught; neither; never; no; one; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • يُزَكِّيۡ — Yo-zuk-ki — Cleanse (= v., pres., s., 3rd person, 1. Cleanse, clean or purify of sin; sanctify. 2. Develop or grow someone by the cleansing process of removing his impurities, shortcomings and weaknesses. 3. Make another develop, grow, increase or multiply in spiritual understanding)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. All aforesaid who conceal)

             The Warning about Punishment in next five words is given for misdeeds named              in verses 002:011, 002:175, 003:078003:092, 003:178 and many others.

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • لَ — La — For (= For the purpose or reason)
  • هُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. All aforesaid who conceal)
  • عَذَابٌ — Azaa-boon — Punishment (= Appropriate, due and fair agony, chastisement, doom, penalty, recompense, torment, torture or scourge)
  • اَ لِيۡمٌ‏ — Alee-m — Painful (= adj., Grievous; hard task; severe; stern; woeful)

 

* Note 002:175. Some punishments are specified in this verse for concealing what Allah has revealed. Some of the same punishments are also specified in the verse 003:078 for other wrongs like selling cheaply the promises made to Allah and their own faiths.
