* Note 002:206. English grammar requires that a verb in the past tense in a sentence or sequence is followed similarly by other verb in it in the past tense. Example: Delegated with an authority he misused that in corrupting the entire environment. Quotation marks enable the use of verbs in present or future tense after a verb in past tense. So the quotation marks or inverted commas would change the above sentence as following: Delegated with an authority, “He is now misusing and corrupting the entire environment.”
But the Arabic grammar has no corresponding rules. There are no quotation marks or inverted commas placed to begin or end a quote. The sentence or a sequence with a verb in past tense can be followed by those in present or future tenses. The verse 002:206 is an example of verbs تَوَلّٰى and سَعٰى in the past tense followed by two verbs يُفۡسِدَ and يُهۡلِكَ in the present or future tenses. That is why our translation given above is the best.
