The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                 002:207

وَاِذَا قِيۡلَ لَهُ اتَّقِ اللّٰهَ اَخَذَتۡهُ الۡعِزَّةُ بِالۡاِثۡمِ‌ فَحَسۡبُهٗ جَهَنَّمُ‌ؕ وَلَبِئۡسَ الۡمِهَادُ

Wa-ezaa-qee-la-la-hoot-ta-qil-laa-ha                                                                                           Aa-kha-zut-hool-iz-za-to-bil-ith-may                                                                                             Fa-hus-bo-hoo-ja-hun-na-ma                                                                                                           Wa-la-bae-sul-may-haa-d.

And when said to him to do duty to Allah                                                                         The vanity caught him to do more of the sin                                                                    Then the hell sufficed him.                                                                                                And that surely is the worst destination.

• اِذَاۤ — Ezaa — When (= Any time or event; at such time; whenever)
• قِيۡلَ — Qee-la — Said (= v., pass., Commanded; directed; declared; dictated; informed; instructed; laid down; mandated; ordered; specified, stated or told)
• لَ — La — For (= For the person, purpose or reason)
• هٗ — Hoo…(t) — Him (= pro., s., m., 3^rd person. Refers to aforesaid person)
• اتَّقِ — Ta-q…(il) — Do duty (= v., Be pious and righteous; avoid angering Allah. Fear Allah. Be careful in your relations with God. Take God as the shield to protect against Satanic influences.  See 002:003 and our Commentary The Righteous)
• ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
• اَخَذَتۡ –Aa-kha-zut — Caught (= Carried, incited, moved, overtook, spurred, seized, struck or took control of him to sin even more)
• هُ — Ho…(ol) — Him (= pro., s., m., 3^rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
• الۡعِزَّةُ — Iz-za-to — The vanity (= Arrogance; prestige; pride; self-aggrandizement; vain pride; his view of himself, his honor, his self-esteem or his self-respect)
• بِ — B…(il) — With (= The Arabic word  بِ  literally means ‘with’ in English.  A/t/a carried or incited to further sin or do misconduct)
• الۡاِثۡمِ‌ — Ith-may — Sin (= n., Blame; crime; guilt; infraction; illegality; wrong;  unjustifiable or unlawful conduct for which one is accountable; iniquity; injustice; transgression; unjust)
• فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; as a result; so; thus; therefore; yet)
• حَسۡبُ — Hus-bo — Sufficed (= v., past., s., 3^rd person. Those people or things had fully,  adequately, entirely or wholly … accounted, balanced, completed, counted, justified, reckoned, satisfied, settled, sufficed or suited)
• هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3^rd person. Refers to aforesaid person)
• جَهَنَّمَ — Ja-hun-na-ma — Hell (= Blazing Fire. Purgatory; Gehenna; hell-fire. Also the hellish life in this world)
• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
• لَ — La — Surely (= Absolutely; assuredly; categorically; certainly clearly; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively, really; seriously; sincerely; specifically; truly; verily)
• بِئۡسَ — Bae-sa..(ul) — Worst (= Bad; evil; miserable; undesirable; unfortunate; vile worst possible)
• الۡمِهَادُ — May-haa-d — Destination (= Abode; dwelling; end of a line, journey, road or travel; place to rest; rest stop; resting place.  A/t/a bed, cot or cradle)
