The Holy Qor-aan 002:241
وَالَّذِيۡنَ يُتَوَفَّوۡنَ مِنۡکُمۡ وَيَذَرُوۡنَ اَزۡوَاجًا وَّصِيَّةً لِّاَزۡوَاجِهِمۡ مَّتَاعًا اِلَى الۡحَـوۡلِ غَيۡرَ اِخۡرَاجٍ ۚ فَاِنۡ خَرَجۡنَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيۡکُمۡ فِىۡ مَا فَعَلۡنَ فِىۡٓ اَنۡفُسِهِنَّ مِنۡ مَّعۡرُوۡفٍؕ وَاللّٰهُ عَزِيۡزٌ حَکِيۡمٌ○
Wa aul-la-ze-na ya-ta-wauf-fao-na min koom Wa ya-za-roo-na auz-waa-jaun Wa-see-ya-taun lay auz-waa-jay him ma-ta-aun Aiy-la ul-hao-lay ghai-ra ikh-raa-j
Fa in- kha-rauj-na Fa laa jo-naa-ha ala-ai koom fee maa fa-aul-na Fee aun-fo-say hin-na min mau-roo-f Wa aul-laa-ho aa-zee-zoon ha-kee-m
And those among you who die And leave behind spouses (= widows) A will for their widows of a provision For a year without facing or even fearing an expulsion.
But if they have voluntarily left Then there is no sin on you in what they do Regarding themselves in grace. And Allah is the Mightiest, the Wisest.

- يَذَرُوۡنَ — Ya-za-roo-na — Leave behind (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. As heir and widows)
- اَزۡوَاجًا — Auz-waa-jaun — Spouses (= n., Wives. Widows; female counterpart of a married couple. Surviving life companions, mates or spouses)
- وَّصِيَّةً — Wa-se-ya-taun — Will (= n., s., f gender. Action to bequeath; bequest; binding injunction regarding the decedent’s assets; direction by the decedent to take effect after his death; testamentary disposition)
- لِّ — Lay — For (= For or with intent to get or give attention, benefit, credit object, purpose or reason of)
- اَزۡوَاجِ — Auz-waa-jay — Spouses (= n., Wives. Widows; female counterpart of a married couple. Surviving life companions, mates or spouses)
- هِمۡ — Him … (ma) — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid persons)
- مَّتَاعًا — Ma-taa-un — A provision (= n., Food, clothing, residence, maintenance and every element of comfort, convenience and living expenses. Benefits, bounties, shelter, sustenance and valuables. Events, places or opportunities of enjoyment, little fun, breaks, reprieves, respite, stay, use and worldly assets. Translations have also added to the above the following: (i) ‘Total sustenance for their living expenses,’ or (ii) ‘Ample, great and lots of,’ or (iii) ‘Adequate allocation and reservation of’, or (iiii) ‘ Appropriate or Temporary grant of’)
- اِلَى — Aiy-la … (ul) — For (= 1. In the direction of; towards. 2. For; until; till)
- الۡحَـوۡلِ — Hao-lay — A year (= The period of twelve months)
- غَيۡرَ — Ghai-ra — Without (= Besides; else; excluding; not; other than; out of; prohibiting; without)
- اِخۡرَاجٍ — Ikh-raaj — Turning out (= n., Arbitrary, compulsory or forced ban, banishment, deportation, driving out, ejection, eviction, exile, expulsion or throwing out of the home, dwelling or residence where the widow last lived with her husband)
- فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; as a result; then; thus; therefore; yet)
- اِنۡ — In — If (= If situation arises; in case; under the circumstances)
- خَرَجۡنَ — Kha-rauj-na — They left (= v, past., f/pl., 3rd person. Departed, gone, or walked, out themselves, voluntarily of their own accord and free will from the residence with deceased husbands)

- فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Amidst, among, contained or inside a duration, event time, place, period, thing or situation. Also, concerning; in reference, regarding; relative to)
- مَاۤ — Maa — What (= All that; whatever; whatsoever)
- فَعَلۡنَ — Fa-aul-na — They did (= v, past., f/pl., 3rd person. Acted; committed; dealt; fell doing; performed; proceeded; reacted; rendered; returned; treated. A/t/a, ‘Did any lawful deed concerning themselves,’ ‘disposed of themselves provided it is honorable,’ or ‘any proper thing which they do concerning themselves’. These translations have obviously added above-mentioned italicized conditions to limit a widows’ right to manage her affairs as she saw appropriate, fit and proper)

- مَّعۡرُوۡفٍ — Mau-roo-fin — Grace (= adv., With grace and honor. In decency, equity, justice & kindness. On equitable terms. Appropriately; decently; equitably; fairly; honorably; lawfully; nicely; properly; reasonably; righteously; suitably. As per custom. According to usage. In a fair, just, appropriate, approved, becoming, befitting, customary, equitable, reasonable proper or suitable basis, fashion, manner, method, way or form. As a gesture of kindness)
- وَ — Wa … (ul) — By (= This وَ vaao is tantamount to taking oath; solemn declaration)
- اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
- عَزِيۡزٌ — Azee-zoon — Mightiest (= n., Superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him is the Strongest. The Eternal Defeater. The Defeater Who is not Defeated. The One Who is Honored infinitely and timelessly. The Strongest)
- حَكِيمٌ۬ — Ha-keem — Wisest (= n., Superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him is Wise. The Judge of Judges. One Who is always correct in His decisions. Also: All-Wise; Always Right. Extremely shrewd. Full of wisdom. None is wiser than Him)
