Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                         002:272

 

اِنۡ تُبۡدُوا الصَّدَقٰتِ فَنِعِمَّا هِىَ‌ۚ وَاِنۡ تُخۡفُوۡهَا وَ تُؤۡتُوۡهَا الۡفُقَرَآءَ فَهُوَ خَيۡرٌ لَّكُمۡ‌ؕ  وَيُكَفِّرُ عَنۡكُمۡ مِّنۡ سَيِّاٰتِكُمۡ‌ؕ  وَاللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ خَبِيۡرٌ○‏

 

In-toob-doos-sa-da-qaa-tay-fa-nay-im-maa-hay-ya                                                             Wa-in-tookh-foo-haa-wa-tou-too-hul-fo-qua-raa-aa                                                               Fa-ho-wa-khai-roon-la-koom                                                                                                       Wa-yo-kuf-fir-un-koom-suy-yay-aa-tay-koom                                                                            Wul-laa-ha-bay-maa-tau-ma-loo-na-kha-bee-r.

 

If you reveal your charities, then it is well and good.                                                 And if you conceal that and give it to the needy                                                                Then that is better for you.                                                                                                     And He will remove from you some of your vices.                                                          And by God Allah is Well-informed with all that you do.

 

  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; When; whenever)
  • تُبۡدُوا — Toob-doo..(s) — You reveal (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Announce; broadcast; convey; declare; demonstrate; disclose; expose; make known to others; manifest; proclaim; publicize; publish; show; tell others)
  • الصَّدَقٰتِ — Sa-da-qaa-tay — The charities (= n., pl., Acts of kindnesses; alms; alms-giving; charitable  contributions; donations; generosities; generous giving; good deeds; real noble expenditures; sincere spending in the causes of Allah; true charities. A/t/a Acts, ideas, plans, public performance, scheme or thoughts relative to the charities)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; resultantly; so; thereafter; therefore; yet)
  • نِعِمَّا — Nay-im-ma — Well and good (= Acceptable; alright; appropriate; excellent)
  • هِىَ — Hay-ya — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid charities)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; When; whenever)
  • تُخۡفُوۡ — Tookh-foo — You conceal    (= v., Give secretly; hide. Keep private, under cover,  secret or surreptitiously)
  • هَا — Haa — That (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid charities)
  • وَ  — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses.  See وَ above)
  • تُؤۡتُوۡ — Toe-too — You give (= Deliver, distribute, donate or give the alms to the poor      or the needy in privacy and secrecy)
  • هَا — Ha.. (ul) — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid charities)
  • الۡفُقَرَآءَ — Fo-qa-raa-aa — The poor (= Destitute; impoverished; homeless; poor)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; resultantly; so; thereafter; therefore; yet)
  • هُوَ — Ho-wa — That (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid charities)
  • خَيۡرٌ — Khai-roon..(l) — Better (= Best; appreciably and comparatively superior to give the needy secretly than making it public)
  • لّ — La — For (= For the benefit, purpose or reason; with intent to)
  • کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. The Holy Qor-aan states this way when addressing both men and women jointly)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses.  See وَ above)
  • يُكَفِّرُ — Yo-kuf-fir — Will remove (= v., Absolve; acquit; atone; deny; do away; expiate; remit; repel)
  • عَنۡ — Un — From (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • کُمۡ  — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. The Holy Qor-aan states this way when addressing both men and women jointly)
  • مِّنَ — Min — Some of (= From; from the class, category or count of; out of)
  • سَيِّاٰتِ — Suy-yay-aa-tay — Vices (= n., pl., Bad or evil results and consequences; ill deeds; mistakes; sins; wrongs. Stains of bad or evil acts, errors  and mistakes)
  • کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. The Holy Qor-aan states this way when addressing both men and women jointly)

  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — By (= This وَ vaao when used with the Almighty God’s name is tantamount to taking oath with His name; solemn declaration or calling as a witness. Normally a Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; also; and; but; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • اللّٰهُ –Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • بِمَا — Bay-maa — Of all that (= Combination of two words.  بِ  means ‘with / in’ and مَاۤ  means ‘all that, whatever, whatsoever or whenever.’ The combination بِمَا (bay-maa) means ‘because of; on  account of; for the reason; due to; with / in all that)
  • تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ — Tau-ma-loo-na — You do (= v., pl., m & f., 2nd person. Act; bring about; do; operate; perform; practice; render; strive; work. Some authors at some places have inaccurately translated this verb as a noun. (= Act; perform; practice. Allah is watching all you do)
  • خَبِيۡرٌ — Kha-bee-r — Well-informed (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most Aware, Informed and Knowledgeable. This word means one who knows and is fully acquainted, aware, cognizant. However, authors added different prefixes like All, Ever, Most, Well, etc (see verse 001:001) to the plain meanings when translating it as an attribute of the Almighty Allah)
