Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                          002:279

 

يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَذَرُوۡا مَا بَقِىَ مِنَ الرِّبٰٓوا اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ

 

Yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo                                                                                                Ut-ta-qool-laa-ha-wa-za-roo-maa-ba-qay-ya                                                                            May-nur-ray-baa-in-koon-toom-moe-may-nee-n.

 

Listen, you all who have believed!                                                                                         Keep your duty to Allah and leave what is left                                                            From the usury if you really have been the believers.

 

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo many times

  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)
  • اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-ha(ul) — You all (= All addressees; entire audience; whole lot of listeners)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Those articles, things or persons
  • اٰمَنُوۡۤ — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems. Accepted, acknowledged, admitted or witnessed their entry in Iss-laam.   • اتَّقُوا — Ta-qoo..(l) — Keep duty (= v., Be afraid; be righteous; do your duty to; ‘avoid angering Allah. More meanings in the Commentary titled as The Righteous)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • ذَرُوۡا — Za-roo — Leave (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Abandon; avoid; discard; pass;  quit; reject. See Note 002:279)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — What (= All that; whatever; whatsoever you claim for)
  • بَقِىَ — Ba-qay-ya — Is left (= Accrued; balance; due; is unpaid; left; outstanding; remainder)
  • مِنَ — May-n…(ur) — Of (= From; from the class, category or count of; out of)
  • الرِّبٰٓوا — Ray-baa — Usury (= Activity, business or demand for lending money on  compounded interest.  See Note 002:276 and our Commentary titled as the “Law-Usury“)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= If’ a situation arises; in case. Also, since)
  • كُنۡتُمۡ — Koon-toom — You have been (= Continuing from the past) **
  • مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ — Mo-may-neen — Believers (= n. Adherents; Faithful who believed in the Holy Qor-aan, The Iss-laam, and became Moslems)

 

** Note 002:279. The word ذَر (zur) relates to one’s acts regarding himself like the words abandon, abjure, avoid, depart, disappear, discontinue, exit, forego, forget, get off, give up, go away, leave, pass, quit, reject, relinquish, renounce, vamoose, etc. This does not convey one’s acts restraining others from committing a prohibition such as conveyed by wors like compel, deride, despise, direct, discard, disdain, disparage, disregard, enforce, force, intervene, mandate, order, prevent, restrict, scorn, spurn or stop, etc.
