The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                    003:004

 

نَزَّلَ عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ مُصَدِّقً۬ا لِّمَا بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡهِ وَأَنزَلَ ٱلتَّوۡرَٮٰةَ وَٱلۡإِنجِيلَ

           

Nuz-za-la-alai-kul-kay-taa-ba-bil-huq-qay                                                                                    Mo-sud-day-qun-lay-maa-bai-na-ya-dai-hay                                                                            Wa-un-za-lut-tao-raa-ta-wul-in-jeel

 

He sent down upon you the Book with the Truth                                                          An attester for what was before it.                                                                                        And He had revealed the Torah and the Bible   

 

  • نَزَّلَ — Nuz-za-la — Entrusted (= Descended; inspired; lowered; revealed; sent down. Implied in the meanings of the process of revelation is that God sent it down periodically step by step. See Note under 002:005)
  • عَلَيۡ — Alai — On (= Above; against; for; on top of; over; upon)
  • كَ — Ka…(ul) — You  (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact every human being. See the Note under 002:005)
  • ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ — Kay-taa-ba — The Book (= Code; Divine Regulations; scriptures. God’s Eternal Message that man penned down in black and white in a written form. See 002:003)
  • بِ  — Bay…(il) — With (= Comprising; containing; consisting of)
  • ٱلۡحَقِّ — Huq-qay — The Truth (=Appropriateness; good cause; plump justification;  rightfully; sound reason)

  • مُصَدِّ قً۬ا — Mo-sud-day-qun — An attester (= n., A person or thing that approves, affirms, confirms or supports as an approver, back-bencher, bottle-holder, testator, verifier or witness)
  • لِّ — Lay — For (= For the benefit; with the purpose, reason or object of. Also, concerning, regarding, relative to)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — What (= All that; whatever; whatsoever; which; whichever)
  • بَيۡنَ — Bai-na — Between (= Ahead of. Among. Between. In front of)
  • يَدَيۡ — Ya-dai — Both hands (= Literally … ‘between both your hands’. In Arabic the phrase means ahead of, before, preceding or prior to. The Holy Qor-aan often refers to earlier or preceding divine instructions, revelations and scriptures)
  • هِ — Hay — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid person, book or Scripture whether named or not. In instant case it is the Holy Qor-aan)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • أَنزَلَ — Un-za-la — He sent down  (= v., pass., Entrusted; inspired; revealed. See نَزَّلَ  above)
  • ٱلتَّوۡرَٮٰةَ — Tao-raa-ta — The Torah (= n., The divine revelations to the Prophet Moses, p.o.h. The scripture revered by the Jews)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • ٱلۡإِنجِيلَ — Ul-in-jeel — The Bible (= n., The divine revelations to the Prophet Jesus, p.o.h. The scripture revered by the Christians. A/t/a, Gospel)

 

** Note 003:004.  Note. Some translations have continued this verse and included the earlier part of the next verse to it and said the following.

And He had sent down the Torah and the Bible before that as a guidance for the people and sent down also the Criterion.” 

But as stated in the Note 003:005, Placing a part of this verse in the preceding verse neither changes the Text nor materially influence its meanings.” That’s why this site has put them up separately as two verses numbering 003:004 and 003:005.
