* Note 003:063. The 3-worded phrase هُوَ الۡقَصَصُ الۡحَـقُّ has two very similar translations.
The first translation [This is the statement of truth] is very broad. It’s better in our choice. It covers the entire field of Truth, the whole, wide and unlimited. The word Truth means true, right, fair, just, appropriate, equitable, suitable, and includes the justice, justification, justified conduct, reasonableness, fairness, exactness and preciseness. It also refers to the religion Islam, the Right Faith.
The other translation [This is a true account, true story or true narrative] is very narrow. It describes only one particular instance mentioned in the prior verse. Such translation is really included in the earlier better, wider and more expansive scope of the original text.
Both translations are feasible but underscore a larger issue. Some subscribe to the view that the Holy Qor-aan is an authentic narrative of the history. In this sense every scripture is a book of history but history is contestable with another version based upon adduced evidence.
The Holy Qor-aan is not a history book. A scripture guides man to utilize his God-given potential to the maximum by worshiping Him. It embodies Rules of Universal Application and cites some past event only as an illustration. In some areas man is given the power of choice in deciding what of the alternatives to select. In other areas like the Scientific Facts such as gravity he has no choice and has to obey them. The forced obedience to the natural phenomenon is the rule and man has no choice whatever. All earlier scriptures came when Man and his abilities had yet to climb higher in his evolution. The Holy Qor-aan completed [005:004] man’s guidance as he completed evolutionary stages. Man has fully developed mind and is ready to utilize natural elements created for his benefit. This verse and really the whole of Holy Qor-aan is a statement of Truth, not just a true story.
