The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                         003:073

 

وَقَالَتۡ طَّآٮِٕفَةٌ مِّنۡ اَهۡلِ الۡكِتٰبِ اٰمِنُوۡا بِالَّذِىۡۤ اُنۡزِلَ عَلَى الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَجۡهَ النَّهَارِ وَاكۡفُرُوۡۤا اٰخِرَهٗ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡجِعُوۡنَ‌‌ۚ‌ ۖ‏

 

Wa-qaa-lut-taa-aiy-fa-toon-min-aah-lil-kay-taa-bay                                                                Aa-may-noo-bil-la-ze-oon-zay-la-alul-la-ze-na                                                                            Aa-ma-noo-wuj-hun-na-haa-ray                                                                                                        Wuk-fo-roo-aa-khay-ra-hoo                                                                                                                La-ul-la-hoom-yur-jay-oon

 

And a group from among the People of the Book said,                                              “Believe in what has been entrusted to those who                                                          Believe in the early part of the day                                                                                     And disbelieve in its later part                                                                                               So that they too would return.

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • قَالَتۡ — Qaa-lut — Said (= v., past, s., f, 3rd person. Announced, asserted, declared, demanded, exhorted, informed, maintained, professed, stated, told and urged ‘each other’, ‘their companions in confidence’, or ‘some among themselves’)
  • طَّآٮِٕفَةٌ — Taa-aiy-fa-toon — Group (= n., f., pl, Bunch; crowd; gathering; mass; part; party; section; throng)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class, category, count, kind of several articles, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • اَهۡلِ — Aah-l(il) — People of (= Believers; citizens; folks; friends; masters; owners, people; population; supporters; those belonging to; those entrusted to; users)
  • الۡكِتٰبِ — Ul-Kay-taa-bay — The Book (= n., The Divine Directive of Commands, Prohibitions and Regulations. Holy Scripture. See 002:003)
  • اٰمِنُوۡا — Aa-may-noo — You believe  (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Believe in the Holy Qor-aan, become Moslems and enter the Faith of Iss-laam. Also, admit; affirm; approve; confirm; concur; corroborate; testify; witness. See Commentary Belief & Disbelieve) 
  • بِ — Bay…(il) — With (= This word in Arabic literally means ‘with.’ Sometimes the translation in English is also appropriate by using ‘in’ instead of ‘with‘)
  • الَّذِىۡ — La-zee — He who (= s., m., 3rd person article, thing or person; he; who; which)
  • اُنۡزِلَ — Oon-zay-la — Entrusted  **  (= v., past., pass., s., 3rd person. Dispatched, given, granted, inspired; revealed. Handed, laid, lowered, revealed or sent down. Also, delivered; landed; provided; released; supplied. ** See Note 002:005a)
  • عَلَى — Ala…(ul) — To (= Above; against; before; for; on top of; over; upon)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-ze-na —  Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. All those articles, things or persons)
  • اٰمَنُوۡا — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems and entered the Faith of Iss-laam.  See Commentary Belief & Disbelieve) 
  • وَجۡهَ  —  Wuj-ha…(un) — Early part (= n. s., Beginning; early hours; face; morning)
  • النَّهَارِ — Na-haa-ray — The day (= The sun-lit period between a sunrise and the next sunset)
  • وَ — Wa…(uk) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon
  •  اكۡفُرُوۡۤا — Uk-fo-roo — Disbelieve (= Denny; discard; disown; disregard; refuse; reject; repudiate)
  • اٰخِرَ — Aa-khay-ra — Later part (= Coming; end; evening; later)
  • هٗ  — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to later part of the day)
  • لَعَلَّ — La-ul-la — So that (= Haply; hopefully; perchance; perhaps; possibly; hope and wish; maybe; wanting and wishing the result to be)
  • ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Believers)
  • يَرۡجِعُوۡنَ  — Yur-jay-oon — Would return (= v., Abandon, deviate; forsake, go back, reverse or revert from the correct course, linier lines, proper path or right road)
