كُلُّ الطَّعَامِ كَانَ حِلًّا لِّبَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ اِلَّا مَا حَرَّمَ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلُ عَلٰى نَفۡسِهٖ مِنۡ قَبۡلِ اَنۡ تُنَزَّلَ التَّوۡرٰٮةُ ‌ؕ  قُلۡ فَاۡتُوۡا بِالتَّوۡرٰٮةِ فَاتۡلُوۡهَاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِيۡنَ‏

 

Kool-loo  ta-aa-may  kaa-na  hil-lun  lay  bani-iss-ra-ee-la                                                          Il-laa  maa  hur-ra-ma  iss-ra-ee-lo  alaa  nuf-say   he                                                                  Min  qub-lay  un  to-nuz-za-la  ut-tao-raa-ta                                                                                 Qool  fa  aa-too  bay  it-tao-raa-tay                                                                                                  Fa  ut-loo  haa  in  koon-toom  sua-day-qee-n

 

Say, “All food had been lawful for the children of Israel                                          Except what Israel prohibited for itself                                                                         Before Torah was revealed.”                                                                                              Say, “Then come with (= bring) the Torah                                                                          And then read it if you have been truthful.”

 

  • كُلُّ — Kool-lo … (ot) — All (= Altogether; each and everyone; entire; everything without exception; total; whole)
  • الطَّعَامِ — Ta-aa-may — Foods (= n., Eating or feeding any food or eatable for subsistence)
  • كَانَ — Kaa-na — Had been (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; had been; used to; were, went on doing)
  • حِلًّا — Hil-lun — Lawful (= adv., Allowed. Kosher. Legal and permitted)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= Concerning; regarding; relative to; so that; to; towards)
  • بَنِىۡٓ — Ba-nee — All children (= n., Sons; off-springs; progeny; future generations. Also, followers; nation. The vowel ‘mudd’ refers to all tribes or descendants from the 12 sons of Prophet Jacob)
  • اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ — Is-raa-ee-la — Israel (= The word refers to Prophet Jacob)
  • اِلَّا — Il-laa — Except (= Apart from; but; besides; excluding; save; unless)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — Whatever (= Al that; what; whatsoever)
  • حَرَّمَ — Hur-ra-ma — They Prohibited (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Banned; barred; disallowed; disapproved; excluded; forbidden; interdicted; made illegal; outlawed; not authorized or permitted; proscribed; stopped)
  • اِسۡرَآءِيۡلُ — Is-raa-ee..lo — Israel (= The word refers to Prophet Jacob)
  • عَلٰى — Alaa — For (= Above; against; on; over; to; upon)
  • نَفۡسِ —  Nuf-say — Self (= n., s., An individual’s inner-most, heart, mind or soul; being; person)
  • هٖ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Israel)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class, category, count, kind or several articles, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • قَبۡلِ — Qub-lay — Before (= Antecedent; prior to)
  • اَنۡ — Un  — Certainly (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; positively; verily)
  • تُنَزَّلَ — To-nuz-za-la — Revealed (= v., past., pass., f/g., 3rd person. Came down; descended. Was delivered,  entrusted, furnished, handed, inspired, landed, lowered, poured down, provided, released, revealed, sent down, showered over or supplied to)
  • التَّوۡرٰٮةُ — Tau-raa-to — The Torah (= The Book, gospel, law, scripture or divine instructions entrusted to the Messenger and Prophet Moses, p.o.h)
  • قُلۡ — Qool — Say (= v., pres., s, 2nd person. Admonish; announce, assure; broadcast; convey; elaborate; explain; inform; insist; instruct; maintain, mandate; order; persist; preach; proclaim; profess; specify, state; teach, tell. See Notes 002:121, 112-002 and Commentary “‘You say’ means“)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= As a result; consequently; hence; so; then; thereafter)
  • اۡتُوا — Aa-to — You come (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person.  Adduce; approach with; come in with; display; produce; show)
  • بِ — Bay … (it) — With (= Literally the word  بِ  means ‘with’)
  • التَّوۡرٰٮةِ — Tau-raa-tay — The Torah (= The Book, gospel, law, scripture or divine instructions entrusted to the Messenger and Prophet Moses, p.o.h)
  • فَ — Fa … (ut) — Then (= As a result; consequently; hence; so; then; thereafter; therefore)
  • اتۡلُو — Ut-loo — You read (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Describe; convey; give; narrate; recite; relate; sing; state; tell. Read, recite & understand)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid ‘curse’)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; whether)
  • كُنۡتُمۡ — Koon-toom — You have been (= Since the past were and have been continuously)
  • صٰدِقِيۡنَ — Sua-day-qee-n — Truthful (= n., pl., Honest; right; sincere; speaking the truth. A/t/a ‘Men of Truth’ and ‘truthful in your claim’)
