هٰۤاَنۡتُمۡ اُولَاۤءِ تُحِبُّوۡنَهُمۡ وَلَا يُحِبُّوۡنَكُمۡ وَتُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِالۡكِتٰبِ كُلِّهٖ‌ۚ  وَاِذَا لَقُوۡكُمۡ قَالُوۡۤا اٰمَنَّا ۚ  وَاِذَا خَلَوۡا عَضُّوۡا عَلَيۡكُمُ الۡاَنَامِلَ مِنَ الۡغَيۡظِ‌ؕ قُلۡ مُوۡتُوۡا بِغَيۡظِكُمۡؕ‌ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلِيۡمٌ ۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوۡرِ‏

 

Haa-un-toom-haa-o-laa-aiy                                                                                                               To-hib-boo-na-hoom-wa-laa-yo-hib-boo-na-koom                                                                        Wa-toe-may-noo-na-bil-kay-taa-bay-kool-lay-he                                                                       Wa-ezaa-la-qoo-koom-qaa-loo-aa-mun-na                                                                                      Wa-ezaa-kha-lao-udz-dzoo-alai-ko-mool                                                                                          Anaa-may-la-may-nul-ghai-zay                                                                                                        Qool-moo-too-bay-ghai-zay-koom                                                                                                     In-nul-laa-ha-alee-moomb-bay-zaa-tis-so-doo-r.

 

Listen! you all over here!!                                                                                                        You surely love them but they do not love you.                                                                 And you believe in the Book – all of it.                                                                                And when they meet you, they said, “We have believed.”                                             And when they depart                                                                                                                 They raise fingers on you in anger.                                                                                        You say, “Perish with your anger.”                                                                                       Indeed Allah is the Knower of what is in the hearts.

 

  • هٰۤ — Haa — Listen (= Behold; hearken; hey; hi; indeed; pay attention)
  • اَنۡ — Un — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly  earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; verily)
  • تُمۡ — Toom — All of you (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. The Holy Qor-aan states this way when addressing both men and women jointly
  • هٰٓؤُلَآءِ — Haa-o-laa-aiy — Over Here (= pl., All these. Refers to the disbelievers)
  • تُحِبُّوۡنَ — To-hib-boo-na — You love (= v., pres., 2nd person., Adore; appreciate; aspire; cherish; covet; crave; deeply desire; enamored with; feel very much attached; find irresistibly captivating, lucrative or luring; fond of; having fun with; like; seeking the attention of; want; wish for)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to those not Moslems)
  • وَ — Wa — But (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; and; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Absolute denial; never; no; not at all; total negation)
  • يُّحِبُّوۡنَ — Yo-hib-boo-na — They love (= v., pres., 3rd person., Adore; appreciate; aspire; cherish; covet; crave; deeply desire; enamored with; feel very much attached; find irresistibly captivating, lucrative  or luring; fond of; having fun with; like; seeking the attention of; want; wish for)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person., You . The Holy Qor-aan states that way when addressing both men and women jointly)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • تُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ — Toe-may-noo-na — You believe (= v., pl., present; 2nd person; Believe in the Holy Qor-aan and become Moslems by entering the Faith of Islaam. Also, you admit, affirm, approve, confirm, concur, corroborate, give evidence; testify or witness. Also, you get protected; saved; given peace, made safe, provided security, rescued or secured ‘against’ fear)
  • بِ — Bay … (il) — With (= Literally the word  بِ  means ‘with’)
  • الۡڪِتٰبُ — Il-Kay-taab — The Book (= 1. The Divine Directive of Commands, Prohibitions, Rules and Regulations. Holy Scripture. Perfect Book Testament that holds good and is operative eternally. Decreed part of a religion. Spiritual Code codifying the rules of universal application.  2. The Collection of mandated, ordered, prescribed, preserved, recorded, written Do’s and Don’ts.  3. Authentic penned down material in black and white)
  • كُلِّ — Kool-lay — All (= Altogether; each and every part of it; entirely; totally; wholly; everything without exception. Also, in every manner; very much)
  • هٖ — He — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid Book. Dr Al-Hilali and Dr Khan amplified this pronoun as follows:”In all the Scriptures [i.e. you believe in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injil (Gospel), while they disbelieve in your Book, the Qur’an]’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • اِذَاۤ — Ezaa — Whenever (= Any time; when. Also, the meanings of this word in different contexts can be behold; call to mind; consider; recall; think; ponder over; reflect. now that; take into consideration. Remember or think of the time, event, occasion or opportunity)
  • لَقُو — La-qoo — Meet (= v., Come face to face; come across; confront; encounter; face; fall in; get together)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person., You . The Holy Qor-aan states that way when addressing both men and women jointly)
  • قَا لُوۡا —  Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, pl., m; 3rd person: All those men … Alleged;   announced; argued; asked; asserted; broadcast; called; challenged; claimed; contended; contested; countered; conveyed; declared; demanded; elaborated; exclaimed; expounded; inquired; informed; insisted; maintained; objected; persisted; preached; professed; protested; stated; submitted; suggested; told)
  • اٰمَنَّا — Aaa-mun-na — We have believed (= v., past., pl. 1st person. We have believed in the Holy Qor-aan and accepted Islam. Admitted, affirmed, approved, confirmed concurred, corroborated, entered, evidenced, proved, testified and witnessed to have   become Moslems )
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • اِذَاۤ — Ezaa — When (= Any time; whenever.. See  اِذَاۤ  above)
  • خَلَوۡا — Kha-lao — They depart (= v., pl. are isolated, secluded or separated; go apart’ enter seclusion; go into privacy; when alone)
  • عَضُّوۡا — Udz-dzoo — Raise (= v., pl., Give; point; stretch. A/t/a, bite)
  • عَلَيۡ —  Alai — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  • كُمُ — Ko-mo…(ol) — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person., You . The Holy Qor-aan states that way when addressing both men and women jointly)
  • الۡاَنَامِلَ — Anaa-may-la — Fingers (= n., pl., Digits of the hand excluding the thumb. Also, fingertips; nails)
  • مِنَ — May ..(nul) — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category or several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • الۡغَيۡظِ — Gai-zay — Anger (= n., Aroused temper; bias; frustration; prejudice; rage; wrath)
  • قُلۡ — Qool — Say (= v., s, 2nd person. Admonish; announce, argue; assure; broadcast; call; command; convey; elaborate; explain; inform; insist; instruct; maintain, mandate; order; persist; preach; proclaim; profess; propagate; specify, state; teach, tell; train or tutor. See Notes 002:121 and 112-002 and Commentary “‘You say’ means”)
  • مُوۡتُوۡا — Moo-too — Perish (= v., pl., 2nd person; Be dead and destroyed; get ruined. Go and die)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word  بِ  means ‘with.’ It is appropriate to translate this word here with an ‘in‘)
  • غَيۡظِ  — Gai-zay — Anger (= n., Aroused temper; bias; frustration; prejudice; rage; wrath)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person., You . The Holy Qor-aan states  that way when addressing both men and women jointly)
  • اِنَّ — In-na…(ul) — Indeed (= Absolutely; certainly definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly;  positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily)
  • اللّٰهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)

{The next four words end the verses 003:120, 003:155, 005:008, 064:005, etc}

  • عَلِيۡمٌ‏ — Alee-moo … (nb) — The Knower (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him knows. The most Knowing. Informed to the maximum. Has  total and perfect knowledge. Has nothing out of sight.  Nothing whatever is beyond or out of His knowing)
  • بِ — Bay — With what (= Literally the word  بِ  means ‘with’)
  • ذَاتِ — Zaa-tay…(is) — Of (=  n., In re Allah … Controller. Giver. Master. Occupant. Owner. Possessor. See Note 003:120)
  • الصُّدُوۡرِ — So-door — The hearts (= n., pl., Bosoms; breasts; chests; hearts; minds; hidden thoughts locked in human breasts; souls)

 

** Note 003:120. The word  ذَاتِ   (Zaa-tay) means of, he who, that which and in the named contexts as follows.

  1. In re Allah … Giver. Master. Occupant. Owner. Possessor. The One and the Only One God Who designs the ideas, plans and schemes, knows the innermost thoughts concealed, hidden, kept secret or locked in bosoms, breasts, chests, hearts, imaginations, minds and souls of the people.
  2. In re inanimate things … belonging to, controlled by, giving or having.
  3. In re individuals … confers, controls, giving, occupies, owns or possesses.
