The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                  003:122

 

وَاِذۡ غَدَوۡتَ مِنۡ اَهۡلِكَ تُبَوِّئُ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ مَقَاعِدَ لِلۡقِتَالِ‌ؕ وَاللّٰهُ سَمِيۡعٌ عَلِيۡمٌ

 

Wa-iz-gha-dao-ta                                                                                                                                Min-ah-lay-ka                                                                                                                                         To-buw-aiy-ool-moe-may-nee-na-ma-qaa-ay-da-lil-qay-taa-lay                                             Wul-laa-ho-sa-me-oon-alee-m

 

And remember the morning you went for war                                                         Away from your household                                                                                                    Posting the believers at positions for battle                                                                     And by God Allah is All-Hearing and All-Knowing.

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • اِذۡ — Iz  — Remember (= At the time or event; behold; call to mind; consider; now that; ponder over; recall; reflect, think of the time, event, occasion, opportunity or time)
  • غَدَوۡتَ — Gha-dao-ta — Went for war in the morning  (= v., past; s., m., 2nd person. The morning or day break you attacked, battled, emerged or set forth. Most translators concur that this was the war of Uhud. It may also be a forecast to plan wars for defense from ambushes at night and fight early mornings when fresh)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of several persons, phenomenon, articles or things. A/t/a, you left your household)
  • اَهۡلِ — Ah-lay — Household (= n., Family. Also, Believers in and users of; citizens;  dwellers; families; folks; inhabitants; live-ins; masters; owners; natives; occupants; people; populace; population; those belonging to; those entrusted to)
  • كَ  — Ka — Your (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is the Holy Prophet s.a.w)
  • تُبَوِّئُ — To-buw-way-o — Posting (= v., pres., s., 2nd person. You were Appointing, assigning, fixing or setting up)
  • الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ — Moe-may-neena — The believers (= n,. Adherents of Islam; those who enter the Faith, believe and follow the Holy Qor-aan, the Islaam and become Moslems. Men of faith. The faithful)
  • مَقَاعِدَ — Ma-qua-aiy-da — Positions  (= n., pl., Battle-posts; places to sit and wait in case the enemy strikes; stations. A/t/a, to ambush)
  • لِ — Lay…(il) — For (= For the purpose; so that with intent to. Also concerning; regarding; relative to; to; towards)
  • لۡقِتَالِ‌ — Qay-taa-lay — Battle (= n., Act in self-defense; fight back; oppose; push back  or resist; retaliate; strive; struggle. Also, attack, battle,  combat or war or other meanings of the word  قَتَلۡ   see our Commentary Jihad – Is It Fighting)
  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= This vaao is tantamount to taking oath; solemn declaration or calling as a witness. Normally a Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; also; and; but; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • سَمِيۡعٌ — Sa-mee-oon — All-Hearing (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most and highlights that none more than Him hears the best. All-Hearing. Most Hearing. The Hearer. Hears to the ultimate maximum. Hears all wholly, entirely, truly surely, totally and surely. The One from whom nothing is beyond, missed or out of His hearing)
  • عَلِيۡمٌ‏ — A-leem  — All-Knowing (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most and highlights that none more than Him knows more and is knowledgeable. Informed to the maximum. Most Knowing. One with all, total, perfect and wholesome knowledge with nothing beyond or out of His sight. Well-Acquainted; Well-Aware)

 

* Note 003:122. Inaccurate is the translation of the nouns  سَمِيۡعٌ عَلِيۡمٌ    as verbs in the past tense when said “Allah heard all and knew all.”
