The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                003:131

 

يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لَا تَاۡكُلُوا الرِّبٰٓوا اَضۡعَافًا مُّضٰعَفَةً ‌ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُوۡنَ‌ۚ‏

 

Yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo                                                                                         Laa-tau-ko-loor-ray-baa-udz-aa-fum-mo-dzaa-aa-fa-ta                                                           Wut-ta-qool-laa-ha-la-ul-la-koom-toof-lay-hoo-n

 

Listen, you all who have believed!                                                                                    Do not eat up usury compounded many times                                                                And love Allah so that you can prosper.   

 

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo many times

  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)
  • اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-ha(ul) — You all (= All addressees; entire audience; whole lot of listeners)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Those articles, things or persons
  • اٰمَنُوۡۤ — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems. Accepted, acknowledged, admitted or witnessed their entry in Iss-laam.   • تَاۡكُلُوۡٓا — Tau-ko-loo..(r)– You eat up (= v., pres., pl., Consume; devour; eat up voraciously; glutton up on; live on partake; swallow. A/t/a, illegally take; misappropriate; squander; usurp)
  • الرِّبٰوا — Ray-baa — Usury (= n., Compounding interest known as interest-on- interest  that goes on multiplying itself as is practiced by the world-wide banking systems. The activity, business or demand for lending money to get compounded interest. Exponentially multiplying interest. Interest inflated with layers upon layers of it. The harsher, punitive and higher interest rates that go into effect if a hard-money loan goes in an actual or technical default.   • اَضۡعَا فًا — Udz-aa-fun — Compounded (= Beefed up.   Exponential.  Increased tremendously.  Multiplied many times.  Overblown astronomically.  Hugely increased amount involving multiple additions.  Inflated, laced and padded with layer upon layer of add-ons, diverse additions, embellishments, extras, superfluities, trappings, trimmings and variable rates.  Large amounts that tremendously and unjustifiably dwarf the originally loaned out sums of money.  Required to be repaid with hidden fees and add-ons.  Expressions like doubling, tripling or quadrupling are just human efforts to quantify an infinitely unlimited phenomenon conveyed by the word اَضۡعَا فًا  . A/t/a, doubling your wealth many times over)
  • مُّضٰعَفَةً — Mo-dzaa-aa-fa-ta — Many times (= Beefed up.  Exponential.  Increased tremendously.  Multiplied many times.  Overblown astronomically.   Hugely increased amount involving multiple additions.  Inflated, laced and padded with layer upon layer of add-ons, diverse additions, embellishments, extras, superfluities, trappings, trimmings and variable rates.  Large amounts that tremendously and unjustifiably  dwarf the originally loaned out sums of money.  Required to be repaid with hidden fees and penalties. Expressions like doubling, tripling or quadrupling are just human efforts to quantify an infinitely unlimited phenomenon conveyed by the word اَضۡعَا فًا  that really is the loan-principals further exaggerated, overblown and puffed-up with multi-fold dimensions conveyed by the word  مُّضٰعَفَة. A/t/a, compounded; doubled; interest amount and rates that goes on multiplying itself; multiplied; multiple additions; redoubled)

                                          The rule in the next seven (7) words is repeated in                                          verses 002:190, 003:131 and 003:201, etc.

  • وَ — Wa … (ut) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; instead; rather; while; yet; whereupon; while)
  •  اتَّقُوا —  Ut-ta-qoo — You love (= v., pres., m., 2nd person, Act piously and avoid angering Allah by being deeply in love with Him; be afraid, pious  or righteous. See Commentary The Righteous)
  • ٱللَّهَ —  Laa-ha — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • لَعَلَّ — La-ul-la —  So that (= Haply; hopefully; perchance; perhaps; possibly; maybe; wanting and wishing the result to be)
  • کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person., You. The Holy Qor-aan has addressed men and women jointly this way)
  • تُفۡلِحُوۡنَ‏‏‏ — Toof-lay-hoo-n — Prosper (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Be victorious; grow; succeed; triumph; win)

 

** Note 003:131. Another appropriate translation: {Listen! You all who have believed, you must not devour usury, multiplied many times over. But do your duty to Allah so that you can really multiply (wealth because prosperity does not come by living on usury).
