The Holy Qor-aan 003:142
وَلِيُمَحِّصَ اللّٰهُ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَيَمۡحَقَ الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ
Wa-lay-yo-mauh-hay-sul-laa-hool-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo Wa-yum-ha-ha-qul-laa-hool-kaa-fay-ree-n
And so that Allah may cleanse those who have believed And wipe out the disbelievers
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet;)
- لِ — Lay — For / So that (= Concerning; regarding; relative to; to; towards)
- يُمَحِّصَ — Yo-mauh-hay-sa(ul) — Cleanse (= v, pres., s, 3rd person., Anoints; cleans; tests; proves; purges; purifies; rid of impurities. Also, bring in the open; public view; disclose; expose, reveal, show; establishes; firms up. A/t/a, ‘purge … impurities’ and ‘God renders pure the hearts’)
- اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. All those articles, things or persons)
- اٰمَنُوۡا — Aa-ma-noo — Have believed (= v., past., pl.,3rd person., Really, sincerely, totally and wholeheartedly believed in the Holy Qor-aan and entered the Faith of Islaam. 2. Admitted, affirmed, approved, confirmed, concurred, corroborated, entered, embraced, evidenced, proved, testified and witnessed to have become Moslem. The Faithful. The Holy Qor-aan has stated the fact in the past tense; so it is not accurate to translate the word in the present tense as ‘who believe’

- يَمۡحَقُ — Yum-ha-qo(ol) — Wipe out (= v., pres., s, 3rd person, 1. Plans to and is going to …. 1. Abolish, annihilate, annul, blight, blot out, destroy, efface, eliminate, end, negate, nullify, obliterate or ruin; 2. Curse, degrade, deprive, devalue or diminish in blessings. Also, Allah ‘crushes down,’ will ‘wipe off … gradually,’ ‘deprive of blessings,’ or ‘utterly destroy’)
- الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ — Kaa-fay-ree-n — The ungrateful (= n., pl., 1. Non-appreciating; thankless; unappreciative; who abuse, misuse, refuse, fail to use, or gratefully acknowledge and utilize any of the many God-given blessings, gifts, opportunities or talents provided to them. 2. Deniers; disbelievers; faithless; heretics, infidels; non-believers. Those who reject the Faith and resist God; unbelievers. Some translators have limited this word to only mean those who deny, disbelieve, refuse or reject the Faith of Islam, belief in Allah and the Holy Qor-aan, and become Moslems.
