The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                             003:177

 

وَلَا يَحۡزُنۡكَ الَّذِيۡنَ يُسَارِعُوۡنَ فِى الۡكُفۡرِ‌ۚ  اِنَّهُمۡ لَنۡ يَّضُرُّوا اللّٰهَ شَيۡـــًٔا ‌ؕ  يُرِيۡدُ اللّٰهُ اَلَّا يَجۡعَلَ لَهُمۡ حَظًّا فِىۡ الۡاٰخِرَةِ ‌ۚ  وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِيۡمٌ‏

 

Wa-laa-zoon-kul-la-ze-na-yo-saa-ray-oo-na-fil-koof-ray                                                        Inna-hoom-lun-ya-dzoor-rool-laa-ha-shai-aa                                                                              Yo-ree-dool-laa-ho-ul-laa-yuj-ul-la-hoom-huz-zun-fil-aa-khay-ra-ty                                      Wa-la-hoom-aa-zaa-boon-aa-zee-m

 

And those hurrying in the disbelief must not grieve you.                                          Surely they can’t do any harm Allah at all.                                                                    Allah wills no share for them in the Hereafter.                                                          And for them is a great punishment.

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • لَا — Laa — No (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception. A/t/a, ‘let not’ )
  • يَحۡزُنۡ — Yah-zoon — Grieve (= v., pres., s., 3rd person, Cause to fear, grieve or worry; frighten. A/t/a, ’cause thee concern.’  Also, added with ‘their conduct grieve you’ without any corresponding word in the Holy Qor-aan)
  • كَ — Ka…(ul) — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact every  human being. See the Note under 002:005)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those in masculine gender that include all articles, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • يُسَارِعُوۡنَ — Yo-saa-ray-oo-na — Hurrying    (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Enthusiastically doing the job that has to be done; hastening to outdo; swiftly carrying out the assigned task; vying with each other; quickly. A/t/a, who ‘advance rapidly,’  ‘rush with haste,’ ‘rush headlong,’  ‘run … precipitately,’  ‘run easily,’  ‘vie one with another,’  ‘vie with one another,’ and ‘hastily fall’)
  • فِى — F…(il) — In (= About; concerning; in reference, regarding relative to. Also, amidst; among; belonging; into something)
  • الۡكُفۡرِ‌ — Koof-ray — Disbelief (= n., The act of being ungrateful; denial, failure or refusal    to appreciate. faithlessness; ingratitude; thanklessness; unbelief; ungratefulness. A/t/a, ‘fall into disbelief,’ and this noun is translated inaccurately as a verb by saying ‘renounce faith’)
  • اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly  (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed;      positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid people hurrying towards disbelief)
  • لَنۡ — Lunn..(ya) — Never (= Absolute denial; no; not; not at all; total negation; by no means)
  • يَّضُرُّوا  — Ya-dzoor-ro(ol) — Harm (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Cause or inflict injury; damage; hurt; injure; wound)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • شَيۡـــًٔا‌ — Shai-aa — At all (= Anything at all however little or insignificant. A whit. Not the least. Smallest part of an article, item, object,  material, thing, matter, type, phenomenon or stuff. To  the least extent. Also, Some, something or somewhat)
  • يُرِيۡدُ — Yo-ree-do(ol) — He Wills  (= v., pres., s., m., 3rd person. With no possibility to fail in His designs and with all Power to finalize that He wills, the best translation is He wills. See below parts of Note 002:186 and 003:109. A/t/a, ‘it is Allah’s will’)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • اَ لَّا — Ul-laa — That not (= Combination of two words. اِنۡ (un) meaning if, in case; under the circumstances, when, when situation arises or whenever. and لَا Laa (laa) meaning absolutely not, never, no, not at all, total negation)
  • يَجۡعَلۡ — Yuj-ul — Makes (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Appoints; brings out, causes, converts, creates; directs, grants, makes, places, renders, sets up; turns up; wills. See Note 002:031. A/t/a, ‘assign’ or ‘designs to assign’)
  • لَ — La — For (= Because of; concerning; due to; for the object, purpose or reason of; intended for; on account of; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, belonging to; to; towards)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid persons)
  • حَظًّا — Huz-zun — Share (= n., Allocation; allotment; part; portion; reservation)
  • فِىۡ — Fee..(l) — In (= About; concerning; in reference, regarding relative to. Also, amidst; among; belonging; contained or inside a duration, event, time, place, period, thing or situation)
  • الۡاٰخِرَةِ — Aa-khay-ra-tay — The Hereafter (= Beyond this life.  Coming.  Future.  Judgment Day.  Life – after death, ahead, later, next or yet to come. Resurrection.  Something in the far distant future.  Succeeding hour. The Ending. The last day. The Last or other world. The time ahead, in future, yet to come. The coming, last, later, next or the other world. Also Life in the distant, far away, next or world yet to come)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • لَ — La — For (= For the object, purpose or reason of; intended for; on account of; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘awaits’; belonging to; to; towards)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid persons)
  • عَذَابٌ — Aa-zaa-boon — Punishment (= Appropriate, due and fair agony, chastisement, doom, hard task, penalty, recompense; torment, torture or scourge)
  • عَظِيۡمٌ– Aa-zee-m — Great (= adj., Abounding; awe-inspiring; awesome; colossal;  enormous; extreme; fabulous; fantastic; immense; infinite; magnificent; massive; mighty; monstrous; sensational; superb; terrific; tremendous; wonderful. This word accentuates the aforementioned whether (a) an extremely good, infinitely magnificent or wonderful condition or (b) an abjectly poor, awfully bad, disgustingly deplorable or frightfully ‘severe’ or ‘terrible’ situation or scenario.  Also, this word as a n: means greatest, and as a prep: means exceeding)

* Note 003:109. Use of a verb in the present tense by the Almighty Allah indicates His promise and a forecast for all times to come. It reflects in its meanings that He has done that act in the past, is doing that right now, and will keep doing it for ever after.

Also reproduced below is the relevant part of Note 002:186.

The word  يُرِيۡدُ  (yo-ree-do) is a verb in the present tense for a single male in 3rd person. It is derived from the root    ا   ر د   that has several meanings including those in relation to the following several persons.

Relative to Allah with no possibility to fail in His designs and with all Power to finalize what He wills, the best translation is with words such as adjudge, affirm, command, decree, decide, design, determine, enforce, finalize, mandate, order or will as in verses 002:186003:109, 003:177, 004:027, 004:028 and 004:029.
