The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                003:182

 

لَقَدۡ سَمِعَ اللّٰهُ قَوۡلَ الَّذِيۡنَ قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّ اللّٰهَ فَقِيۡرٌ وَّنَحۡنُ اَغۡنِيَآءُ ‌ۘ سَنَكۡتُبُ مَا قَالُوۡا وَقَتۡلَهُمُ الۡاَنۡۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيۡرِ حَقٍّ ۙۚ وَّنَقُوۡلُ ذُوۡقُوۡا عَذَابَ الۡحَرِيۡقِ‏

 

La  qaud  sa-may-aa  ul-laa-ho  qao-lo  ul-la-ze-na                                                                      Qaa-loo  in-na  ul-laa-ha  fa-qee-roon  wa  nauh-no  augh-nay-yaa-o                                    Sa-nauk-to-bo  maa  qaa-loo  wa                                                                                                        Qaut-la  ho-mo  ol-aun-bay-yaa-aa  bay-ghai-ray  huq-qin                                                        Wa  na-qoo-lo  zoo-qoo  aa-zaa-ba  ul-ha-ree-q

 

Most certainly Allah heard the words of those who                                                        Said, “Surely Allah is poor and we are rich.”                                                                    Soon We will record what they said and                                                                      Their persecution of the Messengers without justification.                                      And We will say, “Taste the punishment of burning.”

 

  • لَ  — La — Certainly (= Absolutely; assuredly; categorically; clearly, definitely  doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; truly; seriously; sincerely; specifically; surely; verily)
  • قَدۡ — Qaud — Surely (= This word lays emphasis like very definitely; surely. See Note 004:049 and our Commentary titled the ‘2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect’)
  • سَمِعَ — Sa-may-aa … (ul) — Heard (= v., past; 3rd person; Listened)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • قَوۡلَ — Qao-la … (ul) — Words (= n., Allegation; announcement; argument; assertion;  averment; boasting; bragging; call; claim; challenge; contention; contest; conveyance; counter; declaration;  exposition; retort; saying; speech; statement; telling; utterance. A/t/a, ‘taunt’)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those in masculine gender that include all articles, things, persons or phenomenon. Some authors have translated this word as ‘those (Jews) who’ while another said ‘those who… (when asked for contributions to the war)’
  • قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, pl., m., 3rdperson: All those men announced;       called; declared; told. See Notes 112:002 and our Commentary ‘You say’ means …’ 
  • اِنَّ — In-na…(ul) — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; indeed; surely. See  لَ  above.        A/t/a, ‘forsooth’)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • فَقِيۡرٌ — Fa-qee-roon — Poor (= n., Beggar. Dependent upon others’ help. Destitute. Homeless. Indigent. One living on charity. Needy. Penniless. Without adequate means)
  • وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • نَحۡنُ — Nauh-no — We (= pro., pl., m & f., 1st person. We. Us)
  • اَغۡنِيَآءَ — Augh-nay-yaa-aa — Rich (= n., pl., Men of means or wealth; moneyed people; wealthy; well-off. A/t/a, ‘free from want’)
  • سَ — Sa — Surely (= This one-lettered word really turns a verb in present tense into a verb in future tense. Definitely. In short while. Quickly. Swiftly. Very soon. With little wait)
  • نَكۡتُبُ — Nauk-to-bo — We’ll record (= v., present; 1st person. Scribe; write; preserve in writing)
  • مَاۤ  — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever)
  • قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, pl., m; 3rd person: All those men Alleged; announced; argued, etc.  See  قَا لُوۡا  above)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘with their’)
  • قَتۡلَ — Qaut-la — Persecution (= n., Aggression; oppression; suppression; violence. No Prophet has ever been killed or slain by his disbelievers. So ‘attempted killing‘ is the accurate translation of this word that is tantamount to persecution. A/t/a, ‘seeking to kill,’ ‘attempts to slay’ and ‘efforts … seeking to kill.’  But the verb as in ‘slaying,’ ‘killing’ and ‘have slain’ is no translation the noun in the Holy Qor-aan text)
  • هُمُ — Ho-mo … (ol) — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)
  • الۡاَنۡۢبِيَآءَ — Aun-bay-yaa-aa — Messengers (= n., pl., Apostles, messengers, prophets, saints or sages who are inspired to forecast, foretell or give news of the coming events ahead of their actual occurring)
  • بِغَيۡرِ — Bay-ghai-ray —  Without (= Separately the word  بِ  means with and  غَيۡرِ  means out of, other or else. The combination means without)
  • حَقٍّۙ — Hauq-qin — Justification (= n., Appropriateness; being right; fairness; good reason; just cause; reasonableness; suitability; truthfulness. A/t/a, this word together with the previous word means ‘unjustly,’ ‘wrongfully’ and ‘in defiance of right’)
  • وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • نَقُوۡلُ — Na-qoo-lo — We will say (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Announce; declare; call out.  Here is the authoritative way a higher-up talks to a subordinate and the Almighty God has used this verb in its plural form. See also قَا لُوۡا above for meanings in its 3rd person format. A/t/a, ‘We shall say (at the time of retribution)’
  • ذُوۡقُوۡا — Zoo-qoo — You taste (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Eat; partake. Also, bear, experience, put up with or suffer the consequences of your evil deeds. A/t/a,  ‘suffer’ and ‘taste ye’)
  • عَذَابَ‏ — Aa-zaa-ba … (ul) — Punishment (= Appropriate, due and fair penalty or recompense such  as agony, chastisement, doom, hard task, penalty, torment, torture or scourge)
  • الۡحَرِيۡقِ — Ha-ree-q — Burning (= adj., Boiling. Cooking. Fiery. Scorching. Strong and intense. A/t/a, ‘Hell-fire’)
