The Holy Qor-aan 003:199
لٰكِنِ الَّذِيۡنَ اتَّقَوۡا رَبَّهُمۡ لَهُمۡ جَنّٰتٌ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰرُ خٰلِدِيۡنَ فِيۡهَا نُزُلًا مِّنۡ عِنۡدِ اللّٰهِ ؕ وَمَا عِنۡدَ اللّٰهِ خَيۡرٌ لِّلۡاَبۡرَارِ
Laa-kay-nil-la-ze-nut-ta-qoo-rub-ba-hoom La-hoom-jun-naa-toon-tuj-ree-min-tuh-tay-hul-un-haa-ro Khaa-lay-de-na-fee-ha-no-zo-lun-min-in-dil-laa-hay Wa-maa-in-dil-laa-hay-kha-roon-lil-ub-raa-r
But those who did duty to their God For them are gardens underneath which rivers flow Living in it as a gift sent from Allah. And that which is from Allah is best for the Righteous.
- لٰكِنِ — Laa-kay-n..(il) — But (= However; instead; nevertheless; yet. A/t/a, ‘On the other hand’and ‘As for’)
- ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na..(ut) — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those in masculine gender that include all articles, things, persons or phenomenon
- اتَّقَوۡا — Ut-ta-qoo — Did duty (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Acted righteously; feared and avoided angering Allah; behaved piously; did good deeds; were righteous. See more meanings at 002:003. A/t/a, the Holy Qor-aan has used this verb in the past tense and its correct translation ‘who took their Lord as a shield’ is clearly distinguishable from the inaccurate one of ‘who fear’ which is in the present tense)
- رَبَّ — Rub-ba — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures; Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist. See 002:287)
- هُمۡ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to the righteous persons

- لَ — La — Certainly (= Absolutely; assuredly; categorically; clearly, definitely doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; truly; seriously; sincerely; specifically; surely; verily)
- هُمۡ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to the righteous persons
The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Jun-naa-tin-tuj-ree … several times.
- جَنّٰتٌ — Jun-naa-toon — Gardens (= pl., Big groves. The Gardens. The orchards. See also the Commentary titled as “The Paradise“)
- تَجۡرِىۡ — Tuj-ree — Flow (= Running with irrigation water; sailing water. A/t/a, ‘watered by running streams’)
- مِنۡ — Min — From (= From a class, category, count, kind, persons or out of)
- تَحۡتِ — Tuh-tay — Underneath (= Below; beneath; deep in ground; on lower level; sub-soil. Under-current)
- هَا — Ha…(ul) — Which (= pro., s., f., 3rd person.. Refers to the جَنّٰتٍ, the Paradise)
- الۡاَنۡهٰرُ — Un-haa-ro — Rivers (= Abundant bodies, currents, supplies or streams of running water)
Verses like 003:137, 004:014, 004:058, 064:010 and 098:009 are added with the words خٰلِدِيۡنَ فِيۡهَاۤ (khaa-lay-de-na-fee-haa) that mean living in it.
- خٰلِدِيۡنَ — Khaa-lay-de-na — Living (= n., pl., Those people who are going to abide, dwell, enjoy, live, remain, reside or stay everlastingly, ever after, forever, indefinitely, permanently or perpetually. The permanency concept in the meanings of this word is appropriate only for the residents of the Paradise and not for those who are committed to hell for correction and reformation as explained in Note 002:040. A/t/a, ‘safe for ever,’ ‘shall they abide,’ ‘to abide’ and ‘to dwell’ as a verb although the Holy Qor-aan has used here the word which is a noun)
- فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Inside a duration, time, period, place, phenomenon or thing. Concerning. In reference. Regarding. Relative to)
- هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid Paradise)
- نُزُلًا — No-zo-lun(m) — Gift sent (= Brought down in small portions from time to time; descended; dropped; inspired; lowered; sent down. A/t/a, ‘entertainment,’. ‘gift’ and ‘hospitality’)
- مِّنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class, category, count, kind or several articles, things, persons or phenomenon)
- عِنۡدِ — In-day…(il) — From (= At; close at hand; from; in; in close proximity of; with; in the counting, esteem; estimate, eyes, front or near; within the presence, precincts, seeing or sight of)
- اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever)
- عِنۡدَ– In-da…(ul) — From (= At; close at hand; from; in close proximity of. See عِنۡدِ above. A/t/a, ‘hath in store’ and ‘has in store’)
- اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- خَيۡرٌ — Khai-roon — Best (= Absolutely the tops; at apex; best; greatest; highest; supreme; superior most; the top. Comparatively better, superior or of greater, higher or more value. A/t/a, ‘better,’ ‘even better,’ ‘still better’ and ‘goodly welcome from’)
