لِلرِّجَالِ نَصِيۡبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الۡوَالِدٰنِ وَالۡاَقۡرَبُوۡنَ  وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيۡبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الۡوَالِدٰنِ وَالۡاَقۡرَبُوۡنَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنۡهُ اَوۡ كَثُرَ ‌ؕ  نَصِيۡبًا مَّفۡرُوۡضًا‏

 

Lir-ray-jaa-lay-na-see-boom-mim-maa                                                                                          Ta-ra-kul-waa-lay-daa-nay-wul-uq-ra-boo-na                                                                              Wa-lin-nay-saa-aiy-na-see-boom-mim-maa                                                                                    Ta-ra-kul-waa-lay-daa-nay-wul-uq-ra-boo-na                                                                              Mim-maa-qul-la-min-ho-auo-ka-thoor                                                                                              Na-see-bum-muf-roo-zaa

 

For men is a part out of what                                                                                                  The parents and close relatives left behind,                                                                      And for women is a part out of what                                                                              The parents and close relatives left behind,                                                                      Out of what was whether small or large                                                                            A share well-defined.

  • لِ — Lay..(ir) — For (= Concerning; due to; for the object, purpose or reason of; intended for; regarding; relative to; to; towards. ‘There is…for,’  ‘unto…belongeth’ and ‘(As the basis of inheritance) for’)
  • لرِّجَالِ — Ray-jaa-lay — Men (= n., Male of the mankind; male of the human beings)
  • نَصِيبٌ۬ — Na-see-boon — A part (= n., Less than the whole; part; portion; section; share. Also, benefit; fortune; recompense; reward)

{The next 5 words are also in verse 004:034}

  • مِمَّا — Mim-maa — Out of what (= Combination of two words. The first word  مِنۡ (min)  means among, from or out of the class, category, kind count or several persons or things. The second word  مَاۤ (maa) means all that, what or whatever. See 002:203)  
  • تَرَكَ — Ta-ra-ka..(ul) — Left behind (= v., past., s., 3rd person.  Left as inheritance. Passed on. Saved, shelved or stored something as highly valuable. Many authors translated this verb inaccurately as inheritance or legacy which are nouns, and as ‘leave’ which is in the present tense whereas the Holy Qor-aan has used  the verb in the past tense)
  • ٱلۡوَٲلِدَانِ — Waa-lay-daa-nay — Parents (= n., pl., Mother and Father)
  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon. A/t/a, ‘as well as’)
  • ٱلۡأَقۡرَبُونَ — Uq-ra-boo-na — Close relatives (= n., pl., Close relations; kith and kin; Relatives. A/t/a,’those nearest related,’  ‘near relations,’  ‘near relatives,’  ‘near of kin’, ‘kinsmen’ and ‘near kindred’)

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)

  • قَلّ — Qul-la — Was small (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Decreased, deflated or reduced  to a tiny size. Refers to an estate of a very small size. The original text in the Holy Qor-aan has used a verb in the past tense; that is why inaccurate are its translations as a noun as in ‘little’ or in the present tense as ‘property be small,’  ‘property is small’ and ‘be little’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category or several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • هُ — Ho — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid shown,
  • specified or stated article, thing or person)
  • اَوۡ — Auo — Or (= Alternatively; in substitution)
  • كَثُرَ — Ka-thoor — Was large (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Increased, inflated or enlarged  into a huge size. Refers to an estate of a very large size. The original text in the Holy Qor-aan has used a verb in the past tense and so its translations in the present tense as be ‘much’ is inaccurate)
  • نَصِيبً۬ا — Na-see-bun — A part (= n., Less than the whole; part; share. See نَصِيبٌ۬ above)
  • مَّفۡرُوضً۬ا — Muf-roo-za — Definite (= adj., Certain; definite; determinate; specific; sure. Also, fixed; made obligatory; mandated; predetermined; specified; well-defined. A/t/a ‘has been determined by Allah,’ ‘determined,’ ‘determinate,’ ‘legal’ and ‘legally entitled’)
