The Holy Qor-aan 004:017
وَالَّذٰنِ يَاۡتِيٰنِهَا مِنۡكُمۡ فَاٰذُوۡهُمَا ۚ فَاِنۡ تَابَا وَاَصۡلَحَا فَاَعۡرِضُوۡا عَنۡهُمَا ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيۡمًا
Wul-la-zaa-nay-yau-tee-na-haa-min-koom-fa-aa-zoo-ho-maa Fa-in-taa-baa-wa-us-la-haa-fa-au-ray-zoo-un-ho-maa In-nul-laa-ha-kaa-na-tuw-waa-bur-ra-he-maa
And those two among you who come up with that, so punish them both. But if the two turned repentant and reformed, then stay away from them. Allah certainly has always been Utmost Forgiving, Utmost Merciful
- وَ — Wa … (ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- الَّذٰنِ –(U)la-zaa-nay — Those two (= 2pl., m., 3rd person. The two men, articles, things or persons who. A/t/a, ‘two of you,’ ‘two persons (man and woman),’ ‘such of … men,’ ‘two … males’ and ‘two men)
- يَاۡتِيۡنَ — Yau-tee-na — Come (= v., m., pl., 3rd person. Appear; arrive; bring about; come up with; show)
- هَا — Haa — That (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., It. The same or that referring to the same and similar lewdness stated in the previous verse. A/t/a, ‘guilty of it,’ ‘guilty of lewdness,’ ‘guilty of unbecoming conduct,’ ‘guilty thereof,’ ‘commit illegal intercourse,’ ‘commit indecency’ and ‘commit the same (act of indecency)’
- مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
- كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m & f., 2nd person. You men and women)
- فَ — Fa — So (= Hence; then; thus; consequently; thereafter; therefore)
- اٰذُوۡ — Aa-zoo — Punish (= v., m., pl., 3rd person. Inflict pain. A/t/a, ‘give them both a slight punishment’ and ‘hurt)
- هُمَا — Ho-maa — Them both (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid two men)
- فَ — Fa — Then (= Hence; so; thus; consequently; thereafter; therefore)
- اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; when situation arises; whenever)
Repentance Requires Reformation is the rule. It’s repeated often. See Note 002:038.
- تَابَا — Taa-baa — The two turned repentant (= v., past., 2pl., m., 3rd person. Those two men felt and expressed being sorry, offered regret, remorse and repentance, asked, begged and requested to be excused, forgiven and pardoned in mercy, kindness and compassion by admitting or confessing their fault, guilt, sin or wrong. A/t/a, ‘they repent,’ ‘repent (promise Allah that they will never repeat, i.e. commit illegal intercourse and other similar sins)’ and ‘should repent,’ but these translations in the present participle for a benefit in the future are not accurate because the Holy Qor-aan has used this verb in the past tense)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- اَصۡلَحَا — Us-la-haa — Reformed (= v., past., 2pl., m., 3rd person. Ameliorated. Amended. Bettered. Brought about healthy. Corrected. Enriched. Improved. Mended ways. Reorganized. Revolutionized. Set things right. Settled peacefully. Upgraded. A/t/a ‘mend,’ ‘mend their ways,’ ‘amend,’ ‘amend (keeping their conduct good),’ ‘do righteous good deeds,’ ‘improve’ and ‘reform themselves,’ but these translations in the present participle for a benefit in the future are not accurate because the Holy Qor-aan has used this verb in the past tense)
- فَ — Fa — Then (= Hence; so; thus; consequently; therefore. See فَ above)
- اَعۡرِضُوۡا — Au-ray-zoo — Stay away (= v., m., pl., 2nd person. Avert; avoid; disregard; get back; back; ignore; side-step; turn away; withdraw. A/t/a, ‘leave them alone,’ ‘let them be’ and ‘turn aside’)
- عَنۡ — Un — From (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to)
- هُمَا — Ho-maa — Those two (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid two men)
- اِنَّ — In-na…(ul) — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; really; surely; truly; verily. ‘A/t/a, ‘Lo’)
- ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- كَانَ — Kaa-na — He has been (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; always had been; used to; were, went on doing)
- تَوَّابَۢا — Taw-waa-baa — Utmost Forgiving (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him is ready to turn with compassion and mercy to accept the regret, remorse and repentance of man. Forgives man who admits faults, guilt or sins. Forgiving. Regretting. Oft Returning. Returning with utmost compassion. Relenting. A/t/a, ‘Oft-Returning (with compassion,’ ‘ever Oft-returning,’ ‘The one Who forgives and accepts repentance’ and ‘Relenting.’ See also Note 002:038)
- رَّحِيۡمًا — Ra-he-maa — Utmost Merciful (= Superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most. and highlights that none more than Him shows mercy again and again, continually, incessantly and indefinitely like the endlessly and perpetually incoming waves from the oceans; Merciful Forever. A/t/a, ‘ever Merciful,’ ‘the Merciful’ and All-Merciful’)
