حُرِّمَتۡ عَلَيۡكُمۡ اُمَّهٰتُكُمۡ وَبَنٰتُكُمۡ وَاَخَوٰتُكُمۡ وَعَمّٰتُكُمۡ وَخٰلٰتُكُمۡ وَبَنٰتُ الۡاٰخِ وَبَنٰتُ الۡاُخۡتِ وَاُمَّهٰتُكُمُ الّٰتِىۡۤ اَرۡضَعۡنَكُمۡ وَاَخَوٰتُكُمۡ مِّنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ وَ اُمَّهٰتُ نِسَآٮِٕكُمۡ وَرَبَآٮِٕبُكُمُ الّٰتِىۡ فِىۡ حُجُوۡرِكُمۡ مِّنۡ نِّسَآٮِٕكُمُ الّٰتِىۡ دَخَلۡتُمۡ بِهِنَّ فَاِنۡ لَّمۡ تَكُوۡنُوۡا دَخَلۡتُمۡ بِهِنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ  وَحَلَاۤٮِٕلُ اَبۡنَآٮِٕكُمُ الَّذِيۡنَ مِنۡ اَصۡلَابِكُمۡۙ  وَاَنۡ تَجۡمَعُوۡا بَيۡنَ الۡاُخۡتَيۡنِ اِلَّا مَا قَدۡ سَلَفَ‌ؕ  اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ غَفُوۡرًا رَّحِيۡمًا ۙ‏

 

Hoor-ray-mut-alai-koom-om-ma-haa-to-koom-wa-ba-na-to-koom                                        Wa-aa-kha-waa-to-koom-wa-um-maa-to-koom-wa-kha-laa-to-koom                                    Wa-ba-naa-tool-aa-khay-wa-ba-naa-tool-ookh-tay                                                                      Wa-om-ma-haa-to-ko-mool-la-tee-ur-dzay-na-koom                                                                    Wa-aa-kha-wa-to-koom-may-nur-ra-dzaa-aa-tay                                                                        Wa-om-ma-haa-to-nay-saa-aiy-koom

Wa-ra-baa-aiy-bo-ko-mool-ul-la-tee-fee-ho-joo-ray-koom                                                        Min-nay-saa-ko-mool-la-tee-da-khul-toom-bay-hin-na                                                                Fa-in-lum-ta-koo-noo-da-khul-toom-bay-hin-na                                                                            Fa-laa-jo-naa-ha-alai-koom

Wa-ha-laa-aiy-lo-ub-naa-aiy-ko-mool-la-ze-na-min-us-laa-bay-koom                                  Wa-un-tuj-ma-oo-bai-na-ookh-ta-yaiy-nay-il-laa-maa-qud-sa-la-fa                                      In-nul-laa-ha-kaa-na-gha-foo-raur-ra-hee-maa

 

Prohibited on you for marriage are your mothers, and you daughters,                And you sisters, and your fathers’ sisters, and your mothers’ sisters,                    And daughters of the brother, and daughters of the sister,                                         And your mothers who had breast-fed you,                                                                        And your sisters from the process of breast-feeding,                                                    And mothers of your wives,

And your step-daughters who are in your guardianship                                          From among those of your women in whom you have entered,                                But if you have not entered them                                                                                      Then there is no sin on you,

And the wives your sons who are from your spines,                                                      And that you assemble two sisters except what has passed.                              Certainly Allah has always been Most Forgiving, Most Merciful

  • خٰلٰتُ — Khaa-laa-to — Mother’s sisters (= n., pl., f., Women who were born to mother’s sisters; maternal aunts)

  • بَنٰتُ — Ba-naa-to(ol) — Daughters of (= n., pl., f., Nieces who are a brother’s daughters)
  • الۡاٰخِ — Aa-khay — Brother (= n., s., m., Men born to one’s mothers)

  • هِنَّ — Hin-na — Them (= pl, f, in 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid wives)

  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; whenever)
  • لَّمۡ — Lum — Not (= Absolutely never; no, not at all)
  • تَكُوۡنُوۡا — Ta-koo-noo — You have been (= v., past., pl., m., 3rd person. Continued doing; had been; used to; were, went on doing. This verb and its 14 grammatical variations indicate an act’s continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future)
  • دَخَلۡ — Da-khul —  Entered (= v., past; m., 2nd person. Consummated marriage; have had conjugal relationship established. A/t/a, ‘gone in,’ ‘gone in unto,’ ‘consorted’ and ‘ye have not gone in’)
  • تُمۡ — Toom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with but here using in is better)
  • هِنَّ — Hin-na — Them (= pl, f, in 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid wives)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= Hence; so; thus; after all this; consequently
  • لَا — Laa — No (= Never; none; not at all; absolute denial; total negation)
  • جُنَاحَ — Jo-naa-ha — Sin (= Blame; inappropriate conduct; crime; illegal; misdeed;  harm; offence; wrong; violation of a prohibition. A/t/a, ‘it is no offence for you to marry your step-daughters if you have not consummated your marriage with their mothers,’ ‘no sin … (to marry their daughters),’ ‘no blame… (in marrying their daughters),’ ‘no blame in marrying them’ and ‘no prohibition’)
  • عَلَيۡ — Alai — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)

  • اَبۡنَآءِ — Ub-naa-aiy — Sons (= n., pl., This word is the plural of ابۡن (ibn) which means sons, boys, male family members or men. But the term includes children h.l.s. (how low so ever), descendants, off-springs, posterity, progeny)
  • كُمُ — Ko-mo(ol) — Your (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person., You / your. See كُمۡ  above)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those in masculine gender)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of persons or thing. See مِّنَ above. A/t/a, ‘proceeding from’ and ‘who (spring) from’)
  • اَصۡلَابِ — Us-laa-bay — Spines (= n., pl., Backbones; loins. A/t/a, ‘your own begotten sons’)

  • بَيۡنَ — Bai-na..(ul) — Between (= Among; betwixt)
  • الۡاُخۡتَيۡنِ — Ookh-ta-yai-nay — Two sisters (= n., pl, f. Women born of the same one mother)
  • اِلَّا — Il-laa — Except (= Apart from; but; besides; excluding; save; unless)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever. A/t/a, ‘what has passed has passed’ and ‘what has already passed’)
  • قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= This word lays emphasis. Absolutely; categorically; assuredly; certainly; clearly; definitely; specially; doubtlessly; obviously; for sure; in spite of; positively; specifically; verily; with no doubt whatsoever.   • سَلَفَ — Sa-la-fa — Has passed (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Already completed, done, gone,  happened or occurred. A/t/a, ‘hath already happened (of that nature) in the past,’ ‘has already passed’ and ‘except what has already passed (you have to divorce one of them)’
  • اِنَّ — In-na…(ul) — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed;      really; surely; truly; verily. ‘A/t/a, ‘Lo’)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • كَانَ — Kaa-na — He has been (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; always had been; used to)
  • غَفُوۡرًا — Gha-foo-raur — Most Forgiving (=. A/t/a, ‘ever forgiving,’ ‘Most Protector (against faults)’ and ‘Oft-Forgiving’)
  • رَّحِيۡمًا‏ — Ra-he-maa — Most Merciful (= Superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most. and highlights that none more than Him shows mercy again and again, continually, incessantly and indefinitely like the endlessly and perpetually incoming waves from the oceans; Merciful Forever)
