The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                      004:034

 

وَلِكُلٍّ جَعَلۡنَا مَوَالِىَ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الۡوَالِدٰنِ وَالۡاَقۡرَبُوۡنَ‌ ؕ  وَالَّذِيۡنَ عَقَدَتۡ اَيۡمَانُكُمۡ فَاٰ تُوۡهُمۡ نَصِيۡبَهُمۡ‌ؕ  اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ شَهِيۡدًا ۙ‏

 

Wa-lay-kool-lin-ja-ul-naa-ma-waa-lay-ya                                                                                      Mim-maa-ta-ra-kul-waa-lay-dai-nay-wul-uq-ra-boo-na                                                            Wul-la-ze-na-aa-qa-dut-ai-maa-no-koom                                                                                        Fa-aa-too-hoom-na-se-ba-hoom                                                                                                          In-nul-laa-ha-kaa-na-alaa-kool-lay-shai-in-sha-he-daa

 

And for everyone We have set up heirs                                                                                Out of what the parents and close relatives left behind,                                                And those your right hands tied in contracts,                                                                  Give them their part.                                                                                                            Allah has always been a witness to everything.

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon.
  • لِ — Lay — For (= Concerning; due to; for the object, purpose or reason of; intended for; regarding; relative to; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘to’)
  • كُلٍّ — Kool-lin — Everyone (= All; altogether; each and everyone. A/t/a, ‘everyone  leaving an inheritance’)
  • جَعَلۡ — Ja-ul — Set up (= v., past., Appointed; assigned; brought into being; created; designed; fashioned; formed; made; ordained)
  • نَآ — Naa — We (= pro., m/f., pl., 1st person. Us. Refers to God Almighty)
  • مَوَالِىَ — Ma-waa-lay-ya — Heirs (= n., Relations; sharers. A/t/a, ‘sharers and heirs’           and ‘heirs of that (property)’

  • مِمَّا — Mim-maa –Out of what (= Combination of two words. The first word  مِنۡ (min)  means among, from or out of the class, category, kind count or several persons or things. The second word  مَاۤ (maa) means all that, what or whatever. See 002:203)  . A/t/a, ‘respecting that which’)
  • تَرَكَ — Ta-ra-ka..(ul) –Left behind (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Left as inheritance. Entrusted. Saved, shelved or stored something as highly valuable. A/t/a, accurate translation ‘left.’  However, inaccurate translation is ‘leave behind’ and ‘leave’ because that is a verb in the  present tense when the Holy Qor-aan has used a verb in the past tense)
  • ٱلۡوَٲلِدَانِ — Waa-lay-daa-nay — Parents (= n., pl., Mother and Father)
  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
    A/t/a, ‘as well as’)
  •  ٱلۡأَقۡرَبُونَ — Uq-ra-boo-na — Close relatives (= n., pl., Close relations; kith and kin; Relatives. A/t/a, ‘relations,’ ‘near of kin,’ ‘near kindred,’ ‘near relatives’ and ‘relatives’)
  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those in masculine gender that include all articles, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • عَقَدَتۡ — Aa-qa-dut — Tied (= v., past., pass., f., 3rd person. Agreed; bounded; contracted; firmed up; pledged. A/t/a, ‘husbands and wives with whom you have made firm covenants,’ ‘entered into a solemn covenant (- the husband and wife),’ ‘ratified,’ ‘entered into agreements,’ ‘made a covenant,’ ‘made a pledge’ and ‘made a pledge (brotherhood)’
  • اَيۡمَانُ — Ai-maa-no — Right hands (= n., pl. Agreements; compacts; contracts; pacts. A/t/a,’right hands’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You all men. Generally this way the Holy Qor-aan addresses both men and women)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= Hence; so; thus; after all this; at the end; in conclusion; in the final analysis; consequently; finally; resultantly; thereafter; therefore)
  • اٰ تُو — Aa-too — Give (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Deliver; pay. A/t/a, ‘let them have their due bequests’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid persons)
  • نَصِيۡبَ — Na-see-ba — Part (= n., Part; portion; section. A/t/a, ‘due portion,’ ‘due portion (by Wasiya – wills),’ ‘due’ and ‘appointed shares’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid persons)
  • اِنَّ — In-na…(ul) — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed;       positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God
  • كَانَ — Kaa-na — He has been (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; had been;  used to; were, went on doing. Indicates the act’s continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future)

  • عَلٰى –Alaa — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  • كُلِّ — Kool-lay — Every (= All; altogether; each and every thing with no exception; in every manner; total; very much; whole. Also, entirely; exceedingly; greatly, highly; totally; wholly)
  • شَىۡءٍ — Shai-in — Thing (= Anything at all however little or insignificant. A whit. Not the least. Smallest part of an article, item, object, material, thing, matter, type, phenomenon or stuff. To the least extent. Also, Some, something or somewhat)
  • شَهِيۡدًا — Sha-hee-da — Witness (= n., s., Attester, observer, onlooker, testifier, verifier,  watch, watcher or witness. Adducer of proof. Bearer, giver or provider of evidence or testimony. Producer of corroboration. Also, a helper, seer or supporter. See Note to 004:070. A/t/a, ‘ever Witness,’ ‘Ever a witness over all things’ and ‘is ever a witness.’  However, ‘bears witness,’ ‘watches over all things’ and ‘watches’ are translations as verbs and so inaccurate translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a noun)
