The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                          004:104

 

  فَاِذَا قَضَيۡتُمُ الصَّلٰوةَ فَاذۡكُرُوا اللّٰهَ قِيَامًا وَّقُعُوۡدًا وَّعَلٰى جُنُوۡبِكُمۡ ۚؕ فَاِذَا اطۡمَاۡنَنۡتُمۡ فَاَقِيۡمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ‌ ۚ اِنَّ الصَّلٰوةَ كَانَتۡ عَلَى الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ كِتٰبًا مَّوۡقُوۡتًا‏  

 

 Fa-ezaa-qa-dzai-to-moos-sa-laa-ta-fuz-ko-roo-nul-laa-ha                                                      Qay-yaa-mun-wa-qo-oo-dun-wa-alaa-jo-noo-bay                                                                        Fa-ezaa-ut-ma-un-nun-toom-fa-aqee-moos-sa-laa-ta                                                                  In-nus-sa-laa-ta-kaa-nut-alul-moe-may-ne-na                                                                              Kay-taa-bun-mao-qoo-ta

 

 So when you have completed the prayer then remember Allah                              While standing and sitting and on your sides.                                                          And when you have found peace then establish the prayer.                                    Surely the praying has been on the believers is                                                                A Command to be filled punctually

 

Except for the words مَّنَاسِكَکُمۡ  (the 5th and 6th in the verse 002:201) instead of the word  الصَّلٰوةَ (the 5th in 004:104), the words below till the 8th word are the same as in 002:201

  • فَ — Fa — So (= Consequently; as a result; so; then; thus; therefore; yet)
  • اِذَا — Ezaa — When (= Any time or event; occasion, opportunity; whenever)
  • قَضَيۡ — Qa-zai — Completed (= v., past., 2nd person. Accomplished; completed; filled;  executed fully; finished. A/t/a, ‘ended’ and ‘performed’)
  • تُمُ — To-mo..(os) — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. The Holy Qor-aan states  this way when addressing both men and women jointly)
  • الصَّلٰوةَ — Sa-laa-ta — The prayer (= The Commandment for the Moslems to pray Five times Daily. Abjectly and earnestly beseeching, requesting or supplicating in worshiping. Praying with full attention and focused mind. A/t/a, ‘(Congregational) prayers,’ ‘(the congregational prayer)’and ‘the act of worship.’ See our Commentary ISLAM – 104 — 5 Acts of worships or pillars of Islam)
  • فَ — Fa…(uz) — Then (= Consequently; as a result; so; thus; therefore; yet)
  • اذۡكُرُوا  Uz-ko-roo(l) — Remember (= v., pl., 2nd person. Attend to; bear in mind; beseech; contemplate; glorify; ponder; praise; pray; reflect. See the Note 002:153. A/t/a, ‘remember’ and ‘celebrate…. praises’)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)

The following 6 words are the same as in verse 003:192

  • قِيَامًا — Qay-yaa-mun — Standing (= Erect; established; firm; fixed; lasting; settled. The terms standing, sitting or lying down cover every position of a human being in any and all acts of life)
  • وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • قُعُوۡدًا — Qo-oo-dun — Sitting (= Lasting, safe and settled position. See قِيَامًا  above. A/t/a, ‘sitting down’)
  • وَّ —  Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • عَلٰى  –Alaa — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  •  جُنُوۡبِ — Jo-noo-bay — Sides (= n., Flanks. Refers to the position of resting or going to sleep or arising after sleep. See قِيَامًا above. A/t/a, ‘lying down on .. sides,’ ‘(lying down) on .. sides,’ ‘lying on .. side,’ ‘(lying) on .. sides (in short all positions and all conditions,’ ‘lying down’ and ‘reclining’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. A/t/a, ‘ye’)
  • فَ — Fa — So (= After all this; finally; hence; so; then; therefore; thus)
  • اِذَا — Ezaa — When (= At the time event, occasion, opportunity or time)
  • اطۡمَاۡنَنۡ — Ut-ma-in-nun — Found peace (= v., past., 3rd person. Comforted; safe. A/t/a, ‘are free from danger,’ ‘are secure, from danger,’ ‘secure from danger,’ ‘feel secure (from danger),’ ‘are secure,’ ‘feel secure,’ ‘are in safety’ and ‘are safe’ are translations       as a verb in the present tense and not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in a verb in the past tense)
  • تُمۡ — Toom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. A/t/a, ‘ye’)
  • فَ — Fa — So (= After all this; finally; hence; so; then; therefore; thus)
  • اَقِيۡمُوا — Aqee-moo(s) — You establish (= v., pres., m., 2nd person. Attend to; be steadfast; comply; confirm; conform; do; determine; establish, firm up; keep up; firm up; keep up; observe with fullness and integrity; set up. In re prayers, observe with regularity and all dictates. A/t/a, ‘keep up (regular),’ ‘observe Prayer in the prescribed form,’ ‘observe,’ ‘observe … (in the normal prescribed form),’ ‘perform’ and ‘Attend regularly)
  • الصَّلٰوةَ — Sa-laa-ta — The prayer (= The Commandment to pray. A/t/a, ‘Regular Prayers’ and ‘proper worship.’  See الصَّلٰوةَ above)
  • اِنَّ — In-na…(us) — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really surely; truly; verily)
  •  الصَّلٰوةَ — Sa-laa-ta — The prayer (= The Commandment to pray See الصَّلٰوةَ above)
  • كَانَتۡ — Kaa-nut — Has been (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; had been; used to; were, went on doing. Indicates the continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘has been’ and ‘is’)
  • عَلٰى — Aa…l(ul) — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  • الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ — Moe-may-nee-na–  Believers (= n., pl., Adherents of Islam; who have followed the Holy Qor-aan and embraced Islam; Moslems)
  • كِتٰبًا ‏ — Kay-taa-bun — A command (= n., Decision; destiny; dictate; permission; plan; will; word; writing; written out. Also, something destined, determined, made binding, mandated, ordained, prescribed, preserved or recorded. A/t/a, ‘an obligation’ and ‘duty incumbent.’ But ‘enjoined’ is a translation as a verb and not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a noun)
  • مَّوۡقُوۡتًا  — Mao-qoo-taa — Punctually (= adv., To be done timely. A/t/a, ‘At stated times,’  ‘at fixed times,’ ‘at fixed hours,’ ‘to be performed at fixed hours,’ ‘to be observed at its appointed time,’ ‘to be conducted at appointed hours’ and ‘timed ordinance’)
