The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                             004:111

 

 وَ مَنۡ يَّعۡمَلۡ سُوۡٓءًا اَوۡ يَظۡلِمۡ نَفۡسَهٗ ثُمَّ يَسۡتَغۡفِرِ اللّٰهَ يَجِدِ اللّٰهَ غَفُوۡرًا رَّحِيۡمًا

 

Wa-mun-yau-mul-soo-un-auo-yuz-lim-nuf-sa-hoo                                                                  Thoom-ma-yus-tugh-fa-ril-laa-ha                                                                                                    Ya-jay-dul-laa-ha-gha-foo-rur-ra-he-,aa

 

And whoever does an evil or wrongs himself                                                                    Then asks forgiveness of Allah                                                                                          Finds Allah Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘If”)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Whoever (= Anyone; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso)
  • يَّعۡمَلۡ — Yau-mul– He does (= v., pres., m., 3 rd person. Acts; does; performs; practices; renders; works. A/t/a, commits and ‘doth’)
  • سُوۡٓءًا — Soo-un — An evil (= n., s., Crime; cruelty; error; evil; harm; illegality; injury; misdeed, mistake; wickedness; wrong)
  • اَوۡ — Auo — Or else (= Alternatively; in substitution)
  • يَظۡلِمۡ — Yuz-lim — Wrongs (= v., pres s., 3rd person., Acts unjustly; does injustice; harms; maltreats; short; treats improperly; transgresses; violates; wrongs. A/t/a, ‘wrongeth’)
  • نَفۡسَ — Nuf-sa– Self (= n., pl., Heart; individual self; mind; own sake; person; soul)
  • هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After this. A/t/a, ‘afterwards’)
  • يَسۡتَغۡفِرِ — Yus-tugh-fay-r(il) — Asks forgiveness (= v., pres., s., 2nd person. Asks, begs, beseeches, implores, pleads, requests, seeks, solicits or supplicates for being excused, forgiveness or repentance. A/t/a, ‘seeks … forgiveness,’ ‘asks forgiveness,’ ‘asks … for forgiveness,’ ‘seeks pardon’ and ‘seeketh pardon’)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • يَجِدِ — Ya-jay-da(ul) — Finds (= v., pres., m., 3rd person. A/t/a, ‘will find,’ ‘will surely find’ and ‘shall find’)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • غَفُوۡرًا —  Gha-foo-rur — Most Forgiving (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him is Who excuses, overlooks and pardons. All Forgiving. Oft-Forgiving. Great Protector from crimes, errors, faults, sins and wrongs. A/t/a, ‘Most Forgiving’)
  • رَّحِيۡمًا‌ — Ra-hee-maa — Most Merciful (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him shows mercy again and again, continually, incessantly and indefinitely like endlessly and perpetually incoming waves from the oceans. Merciful Forever. Translators have expressed the superlative of God’s attributes with words like All, Ever, Forever or Most. One example is this attribute that has been translated as ‘Merciful,’ ‘All-Merciful,’ Ever Merciful’ and ‘Most Merciful’)
