  لَا خَيۡرَ فِىۡ كَثِيۡرٍ مِّنۡ نَّجۡوٰٮهُمۡ اِلَّا مَنۡ اَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةٍ اَوۡ مَعۡرُوۡفٍ اَوۡ اِصۡلَاحٍۢ بَيۡنَ النَّاسِ‌ ؕ وَمَن يَّفۡعَلۡ ذٰ لِكَ ابۡتِغَآءَ مَرۡضَاتِ اللّٰهِ فَسَوۡفَ نُـؤۡتِيۡهِ اَجۡرًا عَظِيۡمًا‏

 

Laa-khai-roon-fee-ka-thee-rim-min-nuj-waa-hoom                                                                      Il-laa-mun-aa-ma-ra-bay-sa-da-qa-tin-auo                                                                                Mau-roo-fin-auo-iss-laa-ho-bai-nun-naa-s                                                                                  Wa-mun-yuf-ul-zaa-lay-kub-tay-ghaa-aa-mur-dzaa-til-laa-hay                                             Fa-sao-fa-noe-te-hay-uj-run-aa-ze-maa

 

No good is in most of their counsel                                                                                    Except one who recommended a charity or                                                          Appropriateness or improvement among people                                                      And he who does that seeking the pleasure of Allah                                                Then soon We will give him a great reward

 

  • لَا — Laa — No (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception. A/t/a, ‘There is no’)
  • خَيۡرٌ —  Khai-roon — Good (= Comparatively superior; of greater, higher or more value; good news. A/t/a, ‘virtue’ and ‘devoid of good’)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Concerning; during; for; in reference to; regarding; relative to)
  • كَثِيۡرٍ — Ka-thee-rin — Most of (= adj., Abundant; ample; big, great or large in number; in exceeding quality or quantity; great deal; heaps; lots of; many; more; most or ‘much of’; plenty; plump; overflowing; repetitious; several times)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class, category, count, kind  or several articles, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • نَّجۡوٰ — Nuj-waa — Counsel (= n., Comments; conferences; consultations; opinions; suggestions. A/t/a, ‘secret talks,’ ‘secret counsels,’ ‘conferrings together,’ ‘intimate discourses,’ ‘secret conferences’ and ‘counsel’)  
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those, them, they men; their)
  • اِلَّا — Il-laa — Except  (= Apart from; but; besides; excluding; save; unless. A/y/a, ‘but if,’  ‘except (in) him’ and  ‘But (good lies only in the secret deliberations of’)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — One who (= Anyone; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso. A/t/a, ‘the conferences of such as’)
  • اَمَرَ — Aa-ma-ra — Recommended (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person. Decreed; dictated; directed; instructed; laid down; mandated; ordained; ordered; taught. See Note 002:211. In some contexts, this word means bid, enjoined, exhorted, recommended or urged. A/t/a, ‘the conference of such as enjoin.’ However, ‘exhorts,’ ‘enjoin,’ ‘enjoins,’ ‘enjoining,’ ‘enjoineth’ and ‘orders’ have translated this verb in the present tense although the Holy Qor-aan has used it in the past tense)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with)
  • صَدَقَةٍ — Sa-da-qa-tin — A charity (= n., s., Act of true kindness; charitable contribution; donation. A/t/a, ‘deed Of charity,’ ‘almsgiving’ and ‘Sadaqah (charity in Allah’s Cause)’
  • اَوۡ — Auo — Or (= Alternatively; in substitution)
  • مَعۡرُوۡفِ‌ — Mau-roo-fin — Appropriateness (= As a noun anything that is appropriate, customary, decent, equitable, fair, graceful, honorable, just, kind, legal, proper, reasonable, suitable or within rights.  As an adverb appropriately, beautifully, decently, equitably, fairly, gracefully, gratefully, gratuitously, honorably, lawfully, nicely, properly, reasonably, righteously, rightfully or suitably. Also, in appropriate,  approved, becoming, befitting, customary, decent,  equitable, fair, generous, just, kind, legal, proper, reasonable or suitable basis, fashion, form, manner, method, term or way. A/t/a, ‘justice,’ ‘goodness,’ ‘promotion of public welfare,’ ‘equitable dealings,’ ‘kindness,’ ‘righteousness,’ ‘kindness’ and “Ma’ruf (Islamic Monotheism and all the good and righteous deeds which Allah has ordained’)
  • اَوۡ — Auo — Or (= Alternatively; in substitution)
  • إِصۡلَاحٌ۬ — Iss-laa-hoon — Improvement (= n., 1. Correcting; helping to grow; making better; reforming things to become in accordance with equity and fairness.  2. Doing the best, the good and the right.  3. Dealing diligently, equitably, fairly, justly, honestly, properly and rightly to promote, protect, safeguard, set right, reconcile and do good work. A/t/a, ‘conciliation,’ ‘reconciliation,’ ‘peace-making,’ ‘making of peace,’ ‘making  peace,’ ‘public peace,’ ‘peace’ and ‘amending matters’)
  • بَيۡنَ — Bai-na..(un) — Among (= Ahead, facing or in front of; among; between; betwixt)
  • النَّاسِ — Un-naa-say — The people (= n., Factions; folks; mankind; group of men, nations or tribes. Human beings. A/t/a, ‘public’ and ‘the people’)
  • وَ  — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — He who (= Anyone; whoever; who; whom; whomever; whoso. A/t/a, ‘Secrecy is permissible) To him’ and ‘on him who’)
  • يَفۡعَلُ — Yuf-ul — Does (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Accomplishes; acts; behaves; brings about; performs; practices; has or shows the ability, capability and power to or will do. A/t/a, ‘does,’ ‘doth’ and ‘strives after’)
  • ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka(ub) — This (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement; it was because; right here; such is this; that. A/t/a, ‘these’)
  • ابۡتِغَآءَ — Ib-tay-ghaa-aa    Seeking  (= adj., Aspiring; attempting; desiring; for getting; going after; looking for; perverting; pursuing; seeking; searching; trying for; wanting and wishing to get)
  • مَرۡضَاتِ — Mur-dzaa-t(il) — Pleasure (= n., pl., Approval; satisfaction. A/t/a, ‘pleasure’ and ‘good pleasure’)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; so that; thereafter; therefore)
  • سَوۡفَ — Sao-fa — Soon will (= The word turns a present tense verb to one in near future. In a short while. Also, definitely; surely. A/t/a, ‘shall soon’ and ‘shall surely’)
  • نُـؤۡتِيۡ — Noe-te-hay — We give  (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Award; bless; confer. A/t/a, ‘We … give,’ ‘We… bestow’ and ‘We shall soon bestow’)
  • هِ  — Hay — Him (= pro., s., m; 3rd person. Ref to aforesaid person)
  • اَجۡرًا — Uj-run — Reward (= n., s. Award; good result; prize; recognition; trophy.
  • عَظِيۡمًا — Aa-ze-maa — Great (= As an adj., or adv., The word accentuates and magnifies the impact of being Awesome, Glorious, Magnificent, Greatest, Mighty and Tremendous. A/t/a, ‘of the highest (value)’ and ‘vast’)
