اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا ثُمَّ كَفَرُوۡا ثُمَّ اٰمَنُوۡا ثُمَّ كَفَرُوۡا ثُمَّ ازۡدَادُوۡا كُفۡرًا لَّمۡ يَكُنِ اللّٰهُ لِيَـغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ وَلَا لِيَـهۡدِيَهُمۡ سَبِيۡلًا ؕ‏ؕؕؕ

 

 In-nul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo-thoom-ma-ka-fa-roo                                                                        Thoom-ma-aa-ma-noo-thoom-ma-ka-fa-roo                                                                              Thoom-ma-uz-da-doo-koof-run                                                                                                      Lum-ya-ko-nil-laa-ho-lay-yugh-fay-ra-la-hoom                                                                          Wa-laa-lay-yah-day-ya-hoom-sa-be-laa

 

Certainly those who believed, then disbelieved,                                                              Then believed, then disbelieved,                                                                                          Then continually increased in disbelief are that                                                              It is not going to be for Allah that He forgives them                                                  Nor that He guides them on the right way.

 

  • اِنَّ — In-na … (ul) — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really surely; truly; verily)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Those articles, things or persons)
  • اٰمَنُوۡا — Aa-ma-noo — They believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy  Qor-aan; became Moslems; entered the Faith of Islam. See Commentary BELIEVE and DISBELIEVE and Note 002:026c show how this phrase  has been translated incorrectly as ‘believe’ [several translators])
  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; further more; subsequently; thereafter)
  • كَفَرُوۡا — Ka-fa-roo — They disbelieved (= v., past, pl., 3rd person. Denied, refused and rejected the Faith and belief in Allah, the Holy Qor-aan, Islam and become Moslem. A/t/a, ‘reject Faith,’ ‘disbelieve’ and ‘renounce’ but a verb in the present tense is not a translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; subsequently. A/t/a, ‘again’ and ‘then … (again)’
  • اٰمَنُوۡا — Aa-ma-noo — They believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan and became Moslems. See اٰمَنُوۡا  above. A/t/a, ’embrace’)
  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; further more; subsequently. See  ثُمَّ  above. A/t/a, ‘and (again)’
  • كَفَرُوۡا — Ka-fa-roo — They disbelieved (= v., past, pl., 3rd person. Denied, refused and rejected the Faith and belief in Allah. See كَفَرُوۡا  above)
  • ثُمَّ  — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; further more; subsequently. See  ثُمَّ  above)
  • ازۡدَادُوۡا — Uz-daa-do — Continually increased (= v., past, pl., 3rd person. Added; augmented; raised. A/t/a, ‘became worse.’ However, ‘go on increasing,’ ‘increase’ and ‘grow’ as verbs in the present tense are no translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • كُفۡرًا — Koof-run — Disbelief (= n., Lack of appreciation, rejection. A/t/a, ‘Unbelief’ and ‘in disbelief’)
  • لَمۡ — Lum — Not (= Absolutely never; no, not at all. A/t/a, ‘never,’ ‘not for’ and ‘neither’)
  • يَكُنِ — Ya-ko-n(il) — Going to be (= v., pres., pass., s., m., 3rd person., Continue doing. Keep on going, happening, materializing occurring, taking place or coming into being. Indicates act’s continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘will’)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of)
  • يَـغۡفِرَ — Yugh-fay-ra —  He Forgives (= v., pres., s., m., 3rd person. Excuse; forgive; pardon; ‘to pardon.’ See 004:049 for fuller meanings)
  • لَ — La — For (= For the object, purpose or reason of; intended for)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those men, they or their)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Neither; never. nor. Refers to  لَّمۡ يَكُنِ اللّٰهُ  above) above)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, purpose or reason of. See لِ above)
  • يَـهۡدِيَ — Yah-day-ya — He guides (= v., pres., s., m., 3rd person. Direct; lead; point; put on; show; steer. See 004:027 for fuller meanings. A/t/a, ‘guide’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those men, they or their)
  • سَبِيۡلًا — Sa-be-laa — Way (= n., s., Action; alternative; cause, course; escape; line;  means; measure; method; path; pretext; remedy; road; way. See Note 004:089  & Phrase fee-sa-be-lil-laa-hay. A/t/a, ‘(right) way,’ ‘unto a way,’ ‘the way,’ ‘the right way,’ ‘on the (right) way,’ ‘in the (right) way (to make them successful),’ ‘on any way,’ ‘to any way of deliverance’ and ‘rightly’ )
