The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                               004:161

 

فَبِظُلۡمٍ مِّنَ الَّذِيۡنَ هَادُوۡا حَرَّمۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ طَيِّبٰتٍ اُحِلَّتۡ لَهُمۡ وَبِصَدِّهِمۡ عَنۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ كَثِيۡرًا

 

Fa  bay  zool-mim  may-na  ul-la-zee-n  haa-do                                                                              Hur-rum  naa   alai  him  toy-yay-baa-tin  o-hil-lut  la  hoom                                                      Wa  bay  sud-day  him  un  sa-bee-l  il-laa-hay  ka-thee-raa

 

So because of the wrongdoing of those who once were guided                                We prohibited them the clean foods they were allowed since before                And their obstruction of many from the cause of Allah

 

Verses 004:161 and 004:162 together read as follows:

So because of the wrongdoing of those who once were guided                              And their obstruction of many from the cause of Allah                                                And their levy of interest and surely they were stopped from it                                And their ingestion of wealth of other people with false means                                We prohibited them the clean foods they were allowed since before.                  And We have prepared for the disbelievers among them a painful punishment

 

  • فَ — Fa — So (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; then; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • بِ — Bay — Because (= Literally the word بِ  means with. Also, ‘because of’; due to; for the reason; on account of. A/t/a, ‘For’ and  ‘(by way of punishing them) on account of’)
  • ظُلۡمٍ — Zool-min — Wrongdoing (= n., s., Bad faith, harmful or unjust actions, behaviors, conducts, stances or ways. Crimes. Evils. Guilts. High-handedness. Impropriety. Inequity. Injustice. Sin. Transgression. Violation. Wickedness. Wrongdoing)
  • مِّنَ — May-na … (ul) — From among (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Those articles, things or persons)
  • هَادُوۡۤا — Haa-do — Once were guided (= n., Those who were rightly guided at one time. A/t/a, Jews’ and ‘who judaised!’)
  • حَرَّمۡ — Hur-rum — Prohibited (= v., past., s., 1st person. Banned; barred; disallowed; disapproved; excluded; forbidden; interdicted; made illegal; outlawed; not authorized or permitted; proscribed; stopped. A/t/a, ‘forbade,’ ‘made unlawful,’ ‘barred them’ and ‘have forbidden’)
  • نَآ — Naa — We (= pro., m & f., pl., 1st person. Our; We; Us. Also, used with God’s name it is the authoritative way a higher-up talks to a subordinate)
  • عَلَيۡ — Alai — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon. A/t/a, ‘unto’)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those men, they; their)
  • طَيِّبٰتٍ — Toy-yay-baa-tin — Clean foods (= pl., Foods which are: 1. Appropriate, good, holy, lawful, pious, proper, pure, right and wholesome foods; 2. With no blemish, defect or other impropriety like being rotten or spoiled; 3. Conducive to physical, moral and spiritual health even if not expressly prohibited by the Sha-re-ah.  Kosher. A/t/a, ‘Certain (foods) good and wholesome,’ ‘certain good things,’ ‘good things,’ ‘pure things,’ ‘the enjoyment of Our spiritual favours,’ ‘certain of the good and pure things’ and ‘certain good foods’)
  • اُحِلَّتۡ — O-hil-lut — Allowed (= v., past., pass., f., pl., 3rd person. Approved; justified, legalized; permitted; sanctioned. Also announced, called out, declared, held, made or rendered … Kosher, lawful, legal, legitimate or proper. A/t/a, ‘allowed,’ ‘permitted,’ ‘had been lawful,’ ‘had been made lawful,’ ‘which were (before) made lawful,’ ‘which had been allowed to them and ‘which were formerly allowed’)
  • لَ — La — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; on account of; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘unto’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those men, they or their)
  • وَ  — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but;  also; more over; though; when; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘and also‘)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. A/t/a, ‘because of,’ ‘because’ and ‘that too on account of’)
  • صَدِّ — Sud-day — Obstruction (= n., Checking; hurdling; hindering;  stopping. A/t/a, ‘they hindered,’ ‘causing hindrances’ and ‘time after time they have debarred others’ but such translation as a verb is not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a noun)
  • هِمۡ  — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those men, they; their)
  • عَنۡ — Un — From (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • سَبِيۡلِ — Sa-bee-l … (il) — Cause (= n., s., Action; alternative; cause, course; escape; line;  means; measure; method; path; pretext; remedy; road; way. See Note 004:089  & Phrase fee-sa-be-lil-laa-hay)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • كَثِيرً۬ا — Ka-thee-raa — A lot (= Adj., Abundant. Ample. Bigger, greater or larger in number. Good deal. Plentiful. A/t/a, ‘much,’ ‘many,’ ‘many men,’ ‘many (people),’ ‘many (people, and their own staying away’ and ‘others’)
