 يٰۤـاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ بُرۡهَانٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّكُمۡ وَاَنۡزَلۡنَاۤ اِلَيۡكُمۡ نُوۡرًا مُّبِيۡنًا‏

 

Yaa-auy-yo-hun-naa-so-qud-jaa-aa-koom                                                                                      Boor-haa-noon-mir-rub-bay-koom                                                                                                    Wa-un-zul-naa-elai-koom-noo-rum-mo-be-naa

 

Listen, People! Indeed reached you is                                                                                  A proof from your Lord                                                                                                          And We have sent down to you a brilliant Light

 

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Yaa-auy-yo-hun-naa-so … in many places

  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; pay attention; O!)
  • اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-h(un) — All (= All, entire or whole of the addressees or audience)
  • النَّاسُ — Naa-so — People (= Folks; mankind; nation. A/t/a, ‘O mankind,’ ‘O you people’ and ‘Men’)
  • قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= This word lays emphasis like indeed; definitely; surely. See Note 004:049 and our Commentary titled the “2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect.” A/t/a, ‘Now’)
  • جَآءَ — Jaa-aa — Reached (= v., past, s., 3rd person. Arrived; reached; returned. Also, in different contexts the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘hath come,’ ‘hath … come,’ ‘has … come,’ ‘has come’ and ‘have received’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. Generally this is the way the Holy Qor-aan addresses men and women)
  • بُرۡهَانٌ — Boor-haa-noon — Proof (= n., s., Argument; evidence; proof; reason. A clear,  manifest or vivid argument, proof or testimonial A/t/a, ‘convincing proof,’ ‘convincing proof (Prophet Muhammad s.a.w),’ ‘manifest proof,’ ‘evident proof,’ ‘proof’ and ‘clear evidence’)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bay — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures; Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. A/t/a, ‘unto you’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • اَنۡزَلۡ — Un-zul — Sent down (= v., past., s., 1st person. Dispatched; gave; granted;  inspired; revealed; handed; laid; landed; lowered; sent down; poured down. Also, delivered; provided; released; supplied; revealed; sent forth)
  • نَآ — Naa — We (= pro., m & g., pl., 1st person. Our; We; Us. Also, used with God’s name it is the authoritative way a higher-up talks to a subordinate)
  • اِلَيۡ — E-lai — At (= In the direction of; to; towards)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all. See  كُمۡ  above)
  • نُوۡرًا — Noo-run — Light (= n., Beam; brightness; glow; luminosity; radiance. A/t/a, ‘Light (Qur’an)’ and ‘light’)
  • مُّبِيۡنًا — Mo-be-naa — Obvious (= adj., Apparent; clear; evident; flagrant; glaring; gross;   lucid; manifest; obvious; open; palpable; patent; unambiguous; unmistakable. A situation that is avowed, cleared, declared, marked or sworn to be without any blemish, hindrance or obstruction which could cloud or fog the view. Also as an adv: clearly; evidently; grossly; manifestly; obviously; openly. A/t/a ‘manifest,’ ‘clear,’ ‘clear … which distinguishes (the right from the wrong)’ and ‘glorious’)
