حُرِّمَتۡ عَلَيۡكُمُ الۡمَيۡتَةُ وَالدَّمُ وَلَحۡمُ الۡخِنۡزِيۡرِ وَمَاۤ اُهِلَّ لِغَيۡرِ اللّٰهِ بِهٖ ٖ  وَالۡمُنۡخَنِقَةُ وَالۡمَوۡقُوۡذَةُ وَالۡمُتَرَدِّيَةُ وَالنَّطِيۡحَةُ وَمَاۤ اَكَلَ السَّبُعُ اِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيۡتُمۡ ٖ  وَمَا ذُ بِحَ عَلَى النُّصُبِ وَاَنۡ تَسۡتَقۡسِمُوۡا بِالۡاَزۡلَامِ‌  ؕ  ذٰ لِكُمۡ فِسۡقٌ‌  ؕ  اَلۡيَوۡمَ يَٮِٕسَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا مِنۡ دِيۡـنِكُمۡ فَلَا تَخۡشَوۡهُمۡ وَاخۡشَوۡنِ‌ ؕ  اَ لۡيَوۡمَ اَكۡمَلۡتُ لَـكُمۡ دِيۡنَكُمۡ وَاَ تۡمَمۡتُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ نِعۡمَتِىۡ وَرَضِيۡتُ لَـكُمُ الۡاِسۡلَامَ دِيۡنًا‌  ؕ  فَمَنِ اضۡطُرَّ فِىۡ مَخۡمَصَةٍ غَيۡرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِّاِثۡمٍ‌ ۙ   فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ

 

Hoor-ray-mut  alai  ko-mool                                                                                                              Mai-ta-t0  wa  ud-da-mo  wa  lauh-mo  ol-khin-ze-ray                                                                  Wa  maa  o-hil-la  lay  ghai-ray  il-laa-hay  bay  he     

Wa  ul-moon-kha-nay-qa-to  wa  ul-mao-qoo-za-to                                                                      Wa  ul-mo-ta-rud-day-ya-to  wa  un-na-tee-ha-to                                                                          Wa  maa  aa-ka-la  us-sa-bo-o  il-laa  maa  zuk-kai  toom 

Wa  maa  zo-bay-ha  aa  lun-no-so-bay                                                                                              Wa  un  tus-tuq-say-moo  bay  il-uz-laa-may                                                                                   Zaa-lay-koom  fis-q

Ul-yao-ma  ya-aiy-sa  ul-la-ze-na  ka-fa-roo  min-de-nay  koom                                                Fa  laa  tukh-shao  hoom   wa  ukh-shao-nay

Ul-yao-ma  uk-mul-to  la  koom  de-na  koom                                                                              Wa  ut-mum-to  alai  koom  nae-ma-tee                                                                                             Wa  ra-dzee-to  la-ko-mo  ol-iss-laa-ma  de-naa    

Fa  ma-nay  idz-toor-ra  fee-mukh-ma-sa-tin                                                                                  Ghai-ra  mo-ta-jaa-nay-fin  lay  ith-may                                                                                          Fa  in-na  ul-laa-ha  gha-foo-roon  ra-hee-m

 

Prohibited on you is to eat                                                                                                     The Dead and the blood, and the flesh of swine,                                                              And that with it is sacrificed for other than Allah,

And the Strangled, and the Bludgeoned,                                                                            And the Fallen, and the Pierced,                                                                                        And what wild animals ate except what you have cleansed;  

And what has been sacrificed for the idols                                                                   And that you divide with the arrows                                                                                  All this for you is miscreancy.

As of today, those who disbelieved in your religion have lost all hope                    So do not fear them, but fear Me.

As of today, I have perfected your religion for you                                                        And I have completed My favor upon you                                                                          And I have approved for you Iss-laam (= Islam) as the religion 

Then anyone forced into a dilemma                                                                                    Without being inclined for sin will find that                                                                Then Allah is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.     

 

Eating four (4) things is prohibited by verses 002:174005:004, 006:146 and 016:116

  • حُرِّمَتۡ — Hoor-ray-mut — Prohibited (= v., past., pas., f., 3rd person. Forbidden. Made illegal, improper, inappropriate or unlawful. Prevented. Proscribed. Prohibited. A/t/a, ‘Forbidden … (for food),’ ‘forbidden (to take for food)’ and ‘are forbidden’)
  • عَلَيۡ — Alai — On (= Above; against; before; for; on top of; over; upon. A/t/a, ‘to’ and ‘unto’)
  • کُمُ — Ko-mo … (ol) — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. The Holy Qor-aan states this way when addressing both men and women jointly)
  • الۡمَيۡتَةُ — Mai-ta-to — The dead (= n., Animal that died of itself; carrion; lifeless; meat of an animal that no more breathes even if it was allowed when alive and slaughtered by letting out blood. A/t/a, ‘which dies of itself,’ ‘animal which dies of itself (a carrion),’ ‘carrion,’ ‘the flesh of an animal which dies of itself,’ ‘the flesh of a dead animal,’ ‘(the dead animals — cattle — beast not slaughtered)’ and ‘dead meat’)
  • وَ — Wa … (ud) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • الدَّمُ — Da-mo – The blood (= The red bodily fluid in the bodies of all vertebrates and animals that gets pumped from the heart, circulates to deliver necessary substances as nutrients and oxygen to the cells, and transports metabolic waste products away from the body. A/t/a, ‘blood (poured forth)’
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • لَحۡمُ — Lauh-mo … (ol) — Flesh (= n., Flesh; meat; muscle; non-bony part or soft; tissue of animals)
  •  الۡخِنۡزِيۡرِ — Khin-zee-ray — Swine (= n., Boar; pig. See Note 002:174c)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — That (= All that; what; whatever. A/t/a, ‘that on which,’ ‘that which’ and ‘any flesh’)

          The text in the next six (6) words is repeated in 005:004 and 006:146 and                                                           with two words in a different order in 002:174.

  • اُهِلَّ — O-hil-la — Offered as sacrifice (= v., past., pass., s., 3rd person. Ref to an animal that has been sacrificed, consecrated; hallowed; immolated; legalized or sanctified. Made kosher, lawful, sacred or  slaughtered by invoking, pronouncing or taking on it the name of God, some deity or someone else. A/t/a ‘hath been invoked,’ ‘has been invoked,’ ‘name … is invoked,’ ‘is invoked the name of,’ ‘has been dedicated,’ ‘dedicated,’ ‘has not been mentioned while slaughtering (… has been slaughtered as a sacrifice for… or for idols)’ and ‘is immolated’)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the benefit, object, purpose or reason of. A/t/a, ‘unto’)
  • غَيۡرِ — Ghai-r … (il) — Other than (= Besides; excluding; not; other than; without. A/t/a, ‘Any other name than that of,’ ‘any other than,’ ‘the name of one other than,’ ‘the name of anyone other than,’ ‘other than the name of GOD’ and ‘others than’)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= The Arabic word  بِ  literally means ‘with’)
  • هٖ — He — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid animal)
  • وَ — Wa … (ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘or’)
  • الۡمُنۡخَنِقَةُ — Moon-kha-nay-qa-to — The strangled (= n., Refers to an animal that has died because of a strangulation. A/t/a, ‘That which hath been Killed by strangling,’  ‘that which has been strangled,’ ‘flesh of an animal that has been strangled,’ ‘strangled (animal),’ ‘the strangled’ and ‘You are forbidden the flesh of strangled animal’)
  • وَ — Wa … (ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘or’)
  • الۡمَوۡقُوۡذَةُ — Mao-qoo-za-to — The bludgeoned (= n., Refers to an animal that has died being beaten. Bashed, battered, clubbed, crushed or slammed to death by blows. A/t/a, ‘beaten to death,’ ‘beaten … to death,’ ‘by a violent blow’ and ‘by violent blow’)
  • وَ — Wa … (ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘or’)
  • الۡمُتَرَدِّيَةُ — Mo-ta-rud-day-ya-to — The fallen (= n., Refers to an animal that has died due to a fall. A/t/a, ‘killed by fall,’ ‘the dead through falling from a height,’ ‘that which has been killed by a fall,’ by a headlong fall,’ ‘by headlong fall’ and ‘those killed by a fall’)
  • وَ — Wa … (un) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘or’)
  • النَّطِيۡحَةُ  — Na-tee-ha-to — The pierced (= n. Refers to an animal that died as a result of piercing by a pointed edge such as by the horns of a charging bull. Gored; jabbed; punctured; speared; spiked; stabbed. A/t/a, ‘by being gored to death,’ ‘by goring with the horns,’ ‘killed by (the goring of) horns’  and ‘ gored to death’)

A/t/a, ‘have eaten’ and ‘a … has eaten.’  But ‘hath been (partly) eaten by,’ ‘has been (partly) eaten by,’ ‘the devoured,’ ‘has been devoured by’ and ‘mangled by’ in the passive voice is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the active voice)
  • السَّبُعُ — Sa-bo-o — Predators (= n., Plural of a carnivorous animal or any organism that hunts, kills, and eats other animals in order to survive. A/t/a, ‘wild animals,’ ‘a wild animal,’ ‘wild beasts’ and ‘beasts of prey’)
  • اِلَّا — Il-laa — Except (= Apart from; besides; excluding; save; unless. A/t/a, ‘saving’ )
  • مَاۤ — Maa — What (=All that; whatever; whatsoever. A/t/a, ‘that which’)
  • ذَكَّيۡ — Zuk-kai — Cleansed (= v., past., pl., 2nd person. Cleaned; made holy; purified; sanctified.  A/t/a, ‘have properly slaughtered,’ ‘have slaughtered it properly before its death,’ ‘have duly slaughtered (before its expiry),’  ‘have duly slaughtered while it was still alive,’ ‘are able to slaughter it (in due form),’ ‘are able to slaughter it (before its death),’ ‘what … slaughter,’ ‘make lawful (by the death-stroke)’ and ‘make it clean by giving the death-stroke yourselves’)

  • الۡاَزۡلَامِ‌ — Uz-laa-may — Arrows (= n., pl., Ref is to the pagan custom of drawing arrows to  determine one’s luck; lottery. A/t/a, ‘the divining arrows’ and ‘arrows.’ But ‘to use arrows’ as a verb is no translation for what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a noun)
  • ذٰ لِكُمۡ — Zaa-lay-koom — This for you (= This word is a combination of three words. The first ذٰ  (zaa) means here, this fact or person who is right here, this or that is how it is, etc. The second  لِ  (lay) means for, belonging to, or is meant for. The third  كُمۡ (koom)  is [pro., pl., m., 2nd person] a pronoun for the plural, masculine in 2nd person means You. The combination means this or that is for you. A/t/a, This is all,’ ‘These are all,’ ‘That is,’ ‘(all) that’ and ‘this’)
  • فِسۡقٌ‌ — Fis-q — Miscreancy (= n., s., A misbelief or false religious faith; abomination; disobedience; miscreancy; rebellion; transgression; villainy embittered. See Note 003:083. A/t/a, ‘transgression,’ ‘acts of disobedience,’ ‘an act of disobedience,‘abomination,’ ‘vicious practice,’ ‘impiety’ and ‘(disobedience of Allah and sin)’                
  • اَلۡيَوۡمَ — Ul-yao-ma — As of today (= n., s., Effective today. From this day on. With effect from today. A/t/a, ‘This day’ and ‘Today’)
  • يَٮِٕسَ — Ya-aiy-sa — Lost hope (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Become disenchanted; despaired disappointed; grown hopeless; lost all hope. A/t/a, ‘have … despaired,’ ‘have … despaired of harming,‘ ‘despaired of (harming),’ ‘have … despaired of causing harm,’ ‘have abandoned all hope of vanquishing’ and ‘have given up all hope.’ But stating ‘are … in despair of (ever  harming)’ in the present tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender)      
  • كَفَرُوۡا — Ka-fa-roo — They disbelieved (= v., past, pl., 3rd person. Denied, refused and rejected the Faith and belief in Allah, the Holy Qor-aan, Islam and become Moslem. See Commentary Believe and Disbelieve. A/t/a, ‘who disbelieved.’ But stating ‘who disbelieve’ in the present tense, or ‘unbelievers’ as a noun, is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘of’)
  • دِيۡـنِ — De-nay — Religion (= n., Belief system. Divine Rules. Faith. See Commentary Islam – 106 – Religion Established Nation … )

The following four words are repeated in verses 002:174 and 005:004

  • اِنَّ — In-na … (ul) — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed;    positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘Lo!’ and ‘surely (he will find that)’
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship. A/t/a, ‘GOD’)
  • غَفُوۡرٌ — Gha-foo-roon — Most Forgiving (= adj., Superlative form indicates the Greatest Forgiver. The word highlights that no one more than Him excuses, overlooks and pardons all kinds of crimes, errors, faults, sins and wrongs. See 001:001. A/t/a, All Forgiving; ‘Oft-forgiving,’ ‘Most Forgiving,’ ‘Forgiving’ and ‘Great Protector’)
  • رَّحِيۡمٌ — Ra-heem — Most Merciful (= adj., superlative form indicates the Greatest Merciful. Merciful Forever. Floodlights that none more than Him shows kindness and mercy, again and again,  incessantly and indefinitely like perpetually incoming              waves of an ocean. See 001:001. A/t/a, ‘Merciful,’ ‘Ever Merciful’ and ‘Most Merciful’)
