يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اِذَا قُمۡتُمۡ اِلَى الصَّلٰوةِ فَاغۡسِلُوۡا وُجُوۡهَكُمۡ وَاَيۡدِيَكُمۡ اِلَى الۡمَرَافِقِ وَامۡسَحُوۡا بِرُءُوۡسِكُمۡ وَاَرۡجُلَكُمۡ اِلَى الۡـكَعۡبَيۡنِ‌ ؕ وَاِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ جُنُبًا فَاطَّهَّرُوۡا‌ ؕ وَاِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ مَّرۡضَىٰۤ اَوۡ عَلٰى سَفَرٍ اَوۡ جَآءَ اَحَدٌ مِّنۡكُمۡ مِّنَ الۡغَآٮِٕطِ اَوۡ لٰمَسۡتُمُ النِّسَآءَ فَلَمۡ تَجِدُوۡا مَآءً فَتَيَمَّمُوۡا صَعِيۡدًا طَيِّبًا فَامۡسَحُوۡا بِوُجُوۡهِكُمۡ وَاَيۡدِيۡكُمۡ مِّنۡهُ‌  ؕ مَا يُرِيۡدُ اللّٰهُ لِيَجۡعَلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ مِّنۡ حَرَجٍ وَّلٰـكِنۡ يُّرِيۡدُ لِيُطَهِّرَكُمۡ وَ لِيُتِمَّ نِعۡمَتَهٗ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُوۡنَ‏ 

 

Yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo                                                                                                Ezaa-qoom-toom-elus-sua-laa-tay-fugh-say-loo                                                                            Wo-joo-ha-koom-wa-aiy-day-ya-koom-elul-ma-ra-fay-qay                                                  Wum-sa-hoo-bay-ro-oo-say-koom                                                                                                    Wa-ur-jo-la-koom-elul-kau-bai-nay                                                                                                Wa-in-koon-toom-jo-no-bun-fut-tah-ha-roo

Wa-in-koon-toom-mur-dzaa-auo-alaa-sa-fa-rin                                                                        Auo-jaa-aa-aha-doon-min-koom-may-nul-ghaa-aiy-tay                                                          Auo-laa-mus-to-moon-nay-saa-aiy                                                                                                  Fa-lum-ta-jay-doo-maa-un                                                                                                                  Fa-ta-yum-ma-moo-sa-ee-dun-toy-yay-bun                                                                                    Fum-sa-hoo-bay-wo-joo-hay-koom-wa-aiy-de-koom-min-ho

Maa-yo-re-dool-laa-ho-lay-yuj-aa-lo-alai                                                                                        Koom-min-ha-ra-jin-wa-laa-kin-yo-re-do-la-yo-tah-hay-ra                                                      Koom-wa-lay-yo-tim-ma-nae-ma-ta-hoo-alai                                                                                Koom-la-ul-la-koom-tush-ko-roo-n

 

Listen, you all who have believed!                                                                                        When you stand for the prayer then wash                                                                          Your faces and your hands till the elbows                                                                          And hand-wipe over your heads                                                                                              And (wash) your feet till the ankles                                                                                       And if you have been unclean then cleanse yourself

And if you have been sick or on a journey                                                                          Or one among you came from the toilet                                                                              Or you have touched the women                                                                                            And you do not find water                                                                                                          Then choose clean high ground                                                                                              And from it wipe your faces and your hands.

Allah intends not to make for                                                                                                  You any hardship but wills to purify                                                                             You and complete His blessings upon                                                                            You so that you can be grateful

 

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo many times

  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)
  • اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-ha(ul) — You all (= All addressees; entire audience; whole lot of listeners)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Those articles, things or persons
  • اٰمَنُوۡۤ — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems. Accepted, acknowledged, admitted or witnessed their entry in Iss-laam.   • اِذَا — Ezaa — When (= At the time or event; behold; remember the time)
  • قُمۡ — Qoom — Stand (= v., pres., 2nd person. Begin, commence, get ready, stand or start preparing for or with intent to offer. A/t/a, ‘rise up,’ ‘stand up,’ ‘intend to offer,’ ‘get up,’ ‘prepare’ and ‘make ready’)
  • تُمُ — Toom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. Generally this is the way the Holy Qor-aan addresses men and women)
  • اِلَى — El … (us) — To / For (= In the direction of; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘for’)
  • الصَّلٰوةِ — Sua-laa-tay — The prayer (= The Commandment for the Moslems to pray Five times Daily. Abjectly and earnestly beseeching, requesting or supplicating in worshiping. Praying with full attention and focused mind. See verse 002:044 and Commentary ISLAM – 104 — 5 Acts of worships or pillars of Islam)
  • فَ — Fa … (ugh) — And / Then (= After all this; finally; hence; so; then; therefore;  thus)
  • اغۡسِلُوۡا — Ugh-say-loo — Wash (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Bathe and wash with water. A/t/a, ‘wash,’ ‘(perform the ablution, so as to wash’ and ‘must wash’)
  • وُجُوۡهَ — Wo-joo-ha — Faces (= n. s., Faces; the front part of human body above neck, and below head including the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. See Note 004:126)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. See تُمُ above)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • اَيۡدِيَ — Aiy-day-ya — Hands (= n., 2pl., The part of human arm below the wrist and can  consist of a thumb, fingers and a palm that can hold and manipulate certain motions A/t/a, The terminal part of arm below the wrist and hands; ‘hands,’ ‘hands (And arms)’ and ‘hands (forearms)’
  • كُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all. See  كُمۡ  above)
  • اِلَى — E-lul — To (= All the way to; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘up to’ and ‘as far as’)
  • الۡمَرَافِقِ — Ma-raa-fay-qay — The elbows (= n., pl., The joints between the upper and lower parts of the human arm)
  • وَ — Wa … (um) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • امۡسَحُوۡا — Um-sa-hoo — Hand-wipe (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Gently touch; wipe. A/t/a, ‘rub … (with water),’ ‘lightly rub,’ ‘pass your wet hands,’ ‘pass your (wet) hands (for masah)’ and ‘rub (by passing wet hands over)’
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. A/t/a, ‘over’)
  • رُءُوۡسِ — Ro-oo-say — Heads (= n., pl. The part of human body above the forehead)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all. See كُمۡ  above)
  • وَ  — Wa — And (wash) (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘and (wash)’
  • اَرۡجُلَ — Ur-jo-la — Feet (= n., pl. Lower extremity of legs that directly touch the ground. The terminal parts of legs below ankles. A/t/a, ‘(wash) … feet’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all. See كُمۡ  above)
  • اِلَى — E-lul — Till (= All the way; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘up to’)
  • لۡـكَعۡبَيۡنِ‌ — Kau-bai-nay — The ankles (= n., 2pl. The parts of body between legs and feet)
  • وَ — Wa — And  (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; when situation arises; whenever. A/t/a, ‘Should’)
  • كُنۡ — Koon — Have been (= v., past., s., m., 2nd person., Continued doing; had been;  used to; were, went on doing. Indicates the continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘should’  and ‘are’)
  • تُمۡ — Toom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. See  تُمۡ    above)
  • جُنُبًا — Jo-no-bun — Unclean (= adj., In need of a bath; unwashed; human body after a discharge of semen either nocturnally or sex. A/t/a, ‘in the state of ceremonial impurity,’ ‘unclean,’ ‘consorted with your spouses,’ ‘in a state of impurity (approached your wives,’ ‘state of Janaba (i.e., after a sexual discharge)’ and ‘polluted’)
  • فَ — Fa … (ut) — And / Then (= After this; finally; hence; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • اطَّهَّرُوۡا‌ — Tah-ha-roo — Cleanse (= v., past., m., pl., 2nd person.. Clean; make holy; purify.  A/t/a, ‘Bathe your whole body,’ ‘wash (yourselves),’ ‘purify yourselves,’ ‘purify yourselves by bathing,’ ‘purify yourselves (bathe your whole body),’ ‘wash yourself thoroughly clean by a bath,’ ‘wash your whole body’ and ‘cleanse yourselves’)

The Commandment in next thirty-five (35) words is repeated in 004:044 and 005:007

  • سَفَرٍ — Sa-fa-rin — A journey (= n., Journey; tour; trek; voyage. A/t/a ‘journey,’ ‘you are on a journey while unclean,‘ ‘on a journey (while under obligation to take a bath),’ ‘travelling’ and ‘travelling the road’)
  • اَوۡ — Auo — Or (= Conj., Alternatively; in case. A/t/a, ‘or if, when’)
  • جَآءَ — Jaa-aa — Came (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Arrived; reached; returned. Also, (in different contexts) the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘just relieved.’ However, ‘cometh’ and ‘comes’ in the present tense are no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • اَحَدٌ — Aha-doon — One (= n., Anyone. A/t/a, ‘one’ and ‘any’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — Among (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. Your. See كُمۡ  above)
  • مِّنَ — May-na…(ul) — From (= Among, from or out of the class of many. See  مِنۡ  above)
  • الۡغَآٮِٕطِ — Ghaa-aiy-tay — The toilet (= n., Having answered the call of nature; outhouse. A/t/a, ‘offices of nature,’ ‘privy’ which is a word used for an old-fashioned outdoor toilet),’ ‘closet,’ ‘comes from the call of nature’ and ‘after answering the call of nature’)
  • اَوۡ — Auo —  Or (= Conj., Alternatively; in case)
  • لٰمَسۡ — Laa-mus — Touched  (= v., past., s., 2nd person. Touched sensuously with a clear pleasurable stimulation. Have had conjugal relations, love-making or sex. A/t/a, ‘have been In contact with women,’ ‘have been in contact with women (i.e. sexual intercourse),’ ‘have had contact,’ ‘have touched,’ ‘have consorted with your spouses,’ ‘have had (sexual) contact with,’ ‘have approached’ and ‘had intercourse with women’)
  • تُمُ  — To-mo..(on) — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. Your. See كُمۡ above)
  • النِّسَآءَ — Nay-saa-aa — The women (= Wives. Literal meanings include girls or females of the mankind; ladies; women folk)
  • فَ — Fa — And / Then (= Hence; so; then; thus; therefore. See  فَ  above)
  • لَمۡ — Lum — Not (= Absolutely never; no; not at all.  A/t/a, ‘cannot’ and ‘do not’)
  • تَجِدُوۡا — Ta-jay-do — You find (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Can get or see; get; find; have access to. A/t/a ‘ye had’)
  • مَآءً — Maa-un –Water (= n., H2O; water)
  • فَ — Fa — And / Then (= Hence; so; then; thus; therefore. See  فَ  above)
  • تَيَمَّمُوۡا — Ta-yum-ma-moo — Choose (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Choose; opt; pick; select. Also, complete; finish. Seek to close, conclude or culminate a process or transaction to exchange or replace it with an almost equal substitute. See Note 004:044.   • صَعِيۡدًا — Sa-ee-dun — High Ground (= n., Elevation; high ground. A/t/a, ‘sand or earth’    ‘earth,’ ‘dust’ and ‘some sand’)
  • طَيِّبًا — Toy-yay-bun — Clean (= n., Hygienic; good; holy; pure; sanitary; spotless;  sterile; unsoiled; unspoiled; wholesome. A/t/a, ‘clean,’ ‘clean, high,’ ‘pure’ and ‘clean pure’)
  • فَ  — Fa…(um) — And / Then (= Hence; so; then; thus; therefore. See  فَ  above)
  • امۡسَحُوۡا — Um-sa-hoo — Wipe (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Pass hands; scour; scrub; tidy. Cleanse, mop, wash or wipe without water but by the gesture of hands. Gently go over. A/t/a, ‘rub,’ ‘wipe,’ ‘having placed your hands on it pass them’ and ‘wipe …  with it (as Tayammum)’

  • يُرِيۡدُ — Yo-re-do…(ol) — He wills (= v., pres., s., m., 3rd person. With no possibility to fail in His designs and with all Power to finalize that He wills, the best translation is He wills See Note 002:186. A/t/a, ‘intend,’ ‘wish,’ ‘desire,’ ‘desires’ and ‘want’)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; on account of; concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • يَجۡعَلَ — Yuj-aa-la — Makes (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Appoints; brings out, causes,          converts, creates; directs, grants, makes out, places, renders, sets up; turns up; wills. See Note 002:031. A/t/a, ‘place,’ ‘put,’ ‘He should place,’ ‘impose’ and ‘make’)
  • عَلَيۡ — Alai — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. Your. See كُمۡ above)
  • مِّنَ — May-na…(ul) — From (= Among, from or out of the class of many. See  مِنۡ  above)
  • حَرَجٍ — Ha-ra-jin — Hardship (= n., s. Burden; difficulty; hardship; harshness. A/t/a,  ‘impediments’ and ‘impediment’)
  • وَّ — Wa — And  (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • لٰـكِنۡ — Laa-kin– But (= However; instead; nevertheless; yet)
  • يُّرِيۡدُ — Yo-re-do — He wills (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Chooses; decides; determines;  intends. See  يُّرِيۡدُ  above)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason. See  لِ  above)
  • يُطَهِّرَ — Yo-tah-hay-ra — Purify (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Clean; cleanse; purify. A/t/a, ‘make .. clean,’ ‘to purify’ and ‘to purify … (internally and externally)’
  • كُمۡ — Koom  — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. Your. See كُمۡ above)
  • وَ — Wa — And  (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason. See لِ above. A/t/a, ‘may’)
  • يُتِمَّ  — Yo-tim-ma — Complete (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Finish. A/t/a, ‘perfect’)
  • نِعۡمَتَ — Nai-ma-ta — Blessing (= n., s., Special gift, favor or reward. See Note 002:212. A/t/a, ‘favour’ and ‘favours’)
  • هٗ — Hoo — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)
  • عَلَيۡ — Alai — On (= Above; against; for; on; over; to; upon; ‘unto’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — Koom  — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. Your. See كُمۡ above)

The next three (3)words mark the end of verses 002;186, 003:124, 005:007

  • لَعَلَّ — La-ul-la — So that (= Gave chance; haply; hopefully; perchance; possibly; hope and wish that it becomes; wishing a result to be. A/t/a, ‘may be,’ ‘so that’ and ‘that’)
  • کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. Your. See كُمۡ above)
  • تَشۡكُرُوۡنَ — Tush-ko-roo-n — You be grateful (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Acknowledge with asserted, repeated, insistent and tremendous feelings of being grateful. Appreciate. Express gratitude. Render thanks. Give recognition. See 002;186 and 003:124. A/t/a, ‘may give thanks,’ ‘be grateful,’ ‘you may give (Him) thanks and ‘may be thankful’)
