The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                     005:023

 

قَالُوۡا يٰمُوۡسٰٓى اِنَّ فِيۡهَا قَوۡمًا جَبَّارِيۡنَ ‌ۖ  وَاِنَّا لَنۡ نَّدۡخُلَهَا حَتّٰى يَخۡرُجُوۡا مِنۡهَا‌ ۚ  فَاِنۡ يَّخۡرُجُوۡا مِنۡهَا فَاِنَّا دَاخِلُوۡنَ‏

 

Qaa-loo-yaa-moo-sa-in-na-fee-haa-qao-mun-jub-baa-ree-na                                                  Wa-in-naa-lun-nud-khlo-haa-hut-taa-yukh-ro-joo-min-haa                                                      Fa-in-yukh-ro-joo-min-haa-fa-in-naa-daa-khay-loo-n

 

They said, “Listen Moses! Certainly cruel people are in it.                                      And we surely will not enter it until they get out from there.                                  So if they get out from there, then we surely are the enterer.”

 

  • قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, s., 3rd person. Stated; told. Also, alleged; argued; asserted; claimed; contended; objected; protested. See Note 002:121 and Commentary ‘You say’ means‘. A/t/a, ‘they replied’)
  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)
  • مُوۡسٰى — Moo-sa — Moses (= The name of a Messenger / Prophet of Allah. A/t/a, ‘Musa (Moses)’
  • اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, situation, thing or time. See Note at 002:028. A/t/a, ‘therein,’ ‘(dwell) therein,’ ‘there is in’ and ‘dwell’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to the said Holy Land)
  • قَوۡمًا — Qao-mun — People (= n., s., Addressees; attendees; fellows; followers; folks;        force; group; nation; party; people; tribe. A/t/a, ‘a race’)
  • جَبَّارِيۡنَ — Jub-baa-ree-na — Cruel (= n., pl. Arrogant; haughty; high and mighty; proud and snooty; powerful snobs; puffed-up rascals; unfair and unjust wrong-doers. A/t/a, ‘people of exceeding strength,’ ‘powerful,’ ‘haughty and powerful,’  ‘arrogant and exceedingly powerful,’ ‘unruly and powerful,’ ‘exceeding strength,’ ‘of great strength,’ ‘giant’ and ‘giants’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • اِنَّا — In-naa — Surely we (= This combines two words. The first  اِنۡ  (in) meaning absolutely, certainly, definitely, positively, surely and verily, and the second  نَآ  (naa) meaning we, us, our. Thus the word  اِنَّا  (in-naa) combines their meanings. A/t/a, ‘lo! we’)
  • لَنۡ — Lunn — Never (= Absolute denial; no; not; not at all; total negation. A/t/a, ‘shall not’)
  • نَّدۡخُلَ — Nud-kho-lo — We enter (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Get in; go in. A/t/a, ‘shall … enter,’ ‘we go … in’  and ‘set foot in’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid Holy Land )
  • حَتّٰى — Hut-ta — Until (= By the end of the period or term; till)
  • يَخۡرُجُوۡا — Yukh-ro-joo — They get out (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Get out; go out; exit. A/t/a, ‘they leave,’ ‘go forth,’ ‘depart,’ ‘they are gone’ and ‘they leave’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to the holy land. A/t/a, ‘thence’ and ‘it’)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; when situation arises; whenever. A/t/a, ‘When’ )
  • يَخۡرُجُوۡا — Yukh-ro-joo — They get out (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Get out. See  يَخۡرُجُوۡا  above)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid group)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After this; hence; so; thus; therefore. See  فَ  above)
  • اِنَّا — In-naa — Surely we (= This combines two words. See  اِنَّا  above)
  • دَاخِلُوۡنَ — Daa-khay-loo-n — Enterers (= n., pl. Those who get in or enter. A/t/a, ‘shall … enter,’ ‘shall enter forthwith,’ ‘will enter,’ ‘will enter (not till then),’ ‘will enter it,’ ‘will … enter (it)’ and ‘we shall enter’)
