The Holy Qor-aan 005:032
فَبَـعَثَ اللّٰهُ غُرَابًا يَّبۡحَثُ فِىۡ الۡاَرۡضِ لِيُرِيَهٗ كَيۡفَ يُوَارِىۡ سَوۡءَةَ اَخِيۡهِ ؕ قَالَ يَاوَيۡلَتٰٓى اَعَجَزۡتُ اَنۡ اَكُوۡنَ مِثۡلَ هٰذَا الۡغُرَابِ فَاُوَارِىَ سَوۡءَةَ اَخِىۡ ۚ فَاَصۡبَحَ مِنَ النّٰدِمِيۡنَۛ ۚۙ
Fa-ba-aa-thul-laa-ho-gho-raa-bun-yub-ha-tho-fil-ur-dzay Lay-yo-ray-ya-hoo-kai-fa-yo-waa-re-sao-aa-ta-aa-khee-hay Qaa-la-yaa-wai-la-taa-au-juz-to-un-akoo-na Mith-la-haa-zul-gho-raa-bay-fa-o-waa-re-sao-aa-ta-aa-khee Fa-us-ba-ha-may-nun-naa-day-mee-n
Then Allah set up a crow scrapping the ground To show him how he could cover the corpse of his brother. He said to himself, “How sad! I was unable to have been Even like this crow so I could cover the corpse of my brother.” Thus he became among the regretful.
- فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; resultantly; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
- بَـعَثَ — Ba-aa-tha .. (ul) — Set up (= v., past., s., 3rd person, Appointed; assigned; designed; established; signed; specified. A/t/a, ‘sent’ and ‘sent down’)
- اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- غُرَابًا — Gho-raa-bun — Crow (= n., A small wild black bird. A/t/a, ‘raven’ and ‘crow’)
- يَّبۡحَثُ — Yub-ha-tho — Scrapping (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Digging, plowing or scratching with his claws. A/t/a, ‘scratching.’ But saying ‘scratched’ and ‘which dug’ in the past tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the present tense)
- فِىۡ — F .. (il) — In (= Amidst. Among. Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or time)
- الۡاَرۡضِ — Ul-ur-dzay — The ground (= n., Area; country; earth; ground; land; territory)
- لِ — Lay — To (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; concerning; regarding; relative; to. A/t/a, ‘to,’ ‘that he might’ and ‘so as to’ )
- يُرِيَ — Yo-ray-ya — He shows (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Manifests; reflects. Causes to be seen or watched. A/t/a, ‘show’)
- هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
- كَيۡفَ — Kai-fa — How to (= How would it be, do or fare. What would it look. In what fashion, manner, method or way; think of the event, occasion, opportunity or time. A/t/a, ‘how’)
- يُوَارِىۡ — Yo-waa-re — He covers (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Conceals; covers; keeps secret. A/t/a, ‘to hide,’ ‘to cover,’ ‘bury’ and ‘he might cover’)
- سَوۡءَةَ — Sao-aa-ta — Corpse (= n., f gender., Evil; weakness. Refers to corpse or dead body. A/t/a, ‘shame,’ ‘dead body,’ ‘naked corpse’ and ‘the corpse’)
- اَخِيۡ — Aa-khee — Brother (= n., s., Sibling. Son of both parents)
- هِ — Hay — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
- قَا لَ — Qaa-la — He said (= v., past, s, m, 3rd person. Refers to have thought to himself. Announced; called; conveyed; declared; thought told. A/t/a, ‘Seeing that he exclaimed’ and ‘cried’)
- يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)
- وَيۡلَتٰٓى — Wai-la-taa — Sad I am (= n., Sadness; shortsightedness; sorry. A/t/a, ‘Woe is me,’ ‘Woe unto me,’ ‘Woe to me’ and ‘Alas’)
- اَعَجَزۡتُ — Au-juz-to — I became unable (= v., past., s., m., 1st person., I could not; I failed. A/t/a, ‘Was not even able to,’ ‘Am not I be able,’ ‘Am I not able,’ ‘am I unable to do,’ ‘Am I not even able,’ ‘am I unable’ and ‘Have I not the strength enough’)
- اَنۡ — Un — That (= So that)
- اَكُوۡنَ — Akoo-na — I have been (= v., past., s., m., 1st person., Continued doing; used to; went on; was doing. Words has or had always been indicate endless continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘to do’ and ‘to be’)
- مِثۡلَ — Mith-la — Like (= Duplicate; identical in nature; just like; the same way; resembling; similar; substitute. Of the same kind, looks quality, shape or type. Of comparable recital. A/t/a, ‘as,’ ‘even like,’ ‘like’ and ‘as … has done’)
- هٰذَا — Haa-zaa … (ul) — This (= The article, thing or person present before the talker. Ref to the crow or raven right in front of him)
- الۡغُرَابِ — Gho-raa-bay — Crow (= n., A small wild black bird. See غُرَابًا above)
- فَ — Fa — So (= After all this; at the end; consequently. See فَ above. A/t/a, ‘so that’ and so’)
- اُوَارِىَ — O-waa-re — I cover (= v., pres., s., 1st person. Conceal; cover; keep secret. See يُوَارِىۡ above. A/t/a, ‘I may hide,’ ‘bury,’ ‘I may cover’ and ‘to hide’)
- سَوۡءَةَ — Sao-aa-ta — Corpse (= n., f gender., Evil; weakness. See سَوۡءَةَ above)
- اَخِيۡ — Aa-khee — My brother (= n., s. Sibling. Son of both parents.)
- فَ — Fa — Thus (= After all this; at the end; consequently. See فَ above. A/t/a, ‘On this’)
- اَصۡبَحَ — Us-ba-ha — He became (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Caused; discovered; turned. Literally … ‘the mooning found.’ A/t/a, ‘became’)
- مِنَ — May-n… (un) — Among (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several A/t/a, ‘one of’)
- النّٰدِمِيۡنَۛ — Naa-day-mee-n — Regretful (= n., pl. Those who feel shameful, regretful or remorseful. A/t/a, ‘Full of regrets,’ ‘those who regret,’ ‘those who regretted,’ ‘regretful,’ ‘repentant,’ ‘penitent,’ ‘remorseful.’ But ‘repented’ is a verb in the past tense and not a translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a noun)
