The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                             005:044

 

 وَكَيۡفَ يُحَكِّمُوۡنَكَ وَعِنۡدَهُمُ التَّوۡرٰٮةُ فِيۡهَا حُكۡمُ اللّٰهِ ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّوۡنَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ ذٰ لِكَ‌  ؕ وَمَاۤ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ بِالۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ‏

 

Wa-kai-fa-yo-huk-kay-moo-na-ka                                                                                                      Wa-in-da-ho-moot-tao-raa-ta                                                                                                              Fee-haa-hook-mool-laa-hay                                                                                                              Thoom-ma-ya-ta-wul-lao-na-min-bau-day-zaa-lay-ka                                                              Wa-maa-o-laa-aiy-ka-bil-moe-may-nee-n

 

And how can they ask you to be judge                                                                                And they have the Torah                                                                                                            In it is the judgement by God                                                                                                Yet they turn away after that.                                                                                                  They are not with the believers.

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • كَيۡفَ — Kai-fa — How come (= How about; how is it; how would it be; why is it. What fashion, manner, method, or way is it. Also think of the time, event, occasion, opportunity, or time. A/t/a, ‘why,’ ‘how,’ ‘how should they appoint,’ ‘how will they,’ ‘how they come’ and ‘how is this!’)
  • يُحَكِّمُوۡنَ — Yo-huk-kay-moo-na — They ask to judge (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Ask to decide; request judgment; set up to give a verdict. A/t/a, ‘come to thee for decision,’ ‘make … a judge,’ ‘make …  their judge,’ ‘come they unto … for judgment,’ ‘come … for judgment,’ ‘will they make … their judge’ and ‘come for decision’)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. A/t/a, ‘thee’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above. A/t/a, ‘when,’ ‘whilst’ and ‘while’)
  • عِنۡدَ — In-da — From (= At; close at hand; from; in; in close proximity of; with. In the counting, esteem; estimate, eyes, front or near. Within the presence, precincts, seeing or sight of. A/t/a, ‘have (their own),’ ‘have,’ ‘already have’ and ‘they can see’)
  • هُمُ — Ho-mo … (ot) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those men; they; theirs.)
  • التَّوۡرٰٮةُ   Tao-raa-ta — The Torah (= n., The scripture of the Jews. A/t/a, ‘Law’ and   ‘Taurat (Torah)’
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, situation, thing or time. A/t/a, ‘contains,’ ‘in accordance with’ and ‘shrines’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid Torah. A/t/a, ‘wherein’ and ‘which contains’)
  • حُكۡمُ — Hook-moo(l) — Judgment (= n., s. Command; decision; decree; determination; law; mandate; order; verdict. A/t/a, ‘commandments,’ ‘the (plain) Command of,’ ‘command,’ ‘judgment,’ ‘have delivered judgment (for them),’ ‘the law (and judgment,’ ‘own judgment’ and ‘the (plain) Decision of’)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; further more; subsequently; thereafter. A/t/a, ‘yet’)
  • يَتَوَلَّوۡنَ — Ya-ta-wul-lao-na — Turn (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Go back; turn back; revert. A/t/a, ‘they would turn away,’ ‘they turn away,’ ‘they turn their backs’ and ‘they are bound to ignore you’)
  •  مِنۡ  — Min — From (= From or out of)
  • بَعۡدِ — Bau-day — After (= Afterwards; subsequent to; succeeding. A/t/a, ‘in spite of,’ ‘soon after’ and ‘even after’)
  • ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka — This (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement; it was because; right here; such is this; that is how it is. A/t/a, ‘that’ and ‘even after that (you judge between them)’
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — Not (= Absolutely not; no; never)
  • اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ — O-laa-aiy-ka — All them (= Acts; facts, items, persons or things. A/t/a, ‘Such (folk),’ ‘these,’ ‘they certainly,’ ‘certainly they,’ ‘such people’ and ‘they are’)
  • بِ — B(il) — With (= Literally the word بِ means with)
  • الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ — Moe-may-nee-n — The believers (= n,. Adherents of Islam; those who enter the Faith, believe, and follow the Holy Qor-aan, the Iss-laam and become Moslems. Men of faith. The faithful. A/t/a, ‘believers,’ ‘true believers,’ ‘(really) believers,’ ‘(really) People of Faith,’ and ‘believers (neither in the Qur’an nor in the Torah. But ‘do not believe’ and ‘will not believe’ as a verb is not a translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a noun)
