The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                               005:060

 

 قُلۡ يٰۤـاَهۡلَ الۡـكِتٰبِ هَلۡ تَـنۡقِمُوۡنَ مِنَّاۤ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَمَاۤ اُنۡزِلَ اِلَـيۡنَا وَمَاۤ اُنۡزِلَ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ ۙ وَاَنَّ اَكۡثَرَكُمۡ فٰسِقُوۡنَ‏

 

Qool-yaa-ah-lul-kay-taa-bay-hul-tun-qay-moo-na                                                                  Min-naa-il-laa-un-aa-mun-naa-bil-laa-hay                                                                                    Wa-maa-oon-zay-la-elai-naa-wa-maa-oon-zay-la-min-ub-lo                                                    Wa-un-na-uk-tha-ra-koom-faa-say-qoo-n

 

Say, “Listen people of the Book! Do you pick on                                                              Us for any reason other than that we have believed in Allah                                      And that was entrusted to us and that was entrusted from before.                        And surely most of you are the Miscreants.” 

           

  • قُلۡ — Qool — You say (= v., s, 2nd person. Announce; assert; broadcast, call on;  contend; convey; elaborate; explain; inform; insist; maintain; remind; specify; state; tell.  See Commentary titled as ‘You say’ means….‘)
  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)
  • اَهۡلَ — Aah-la…(ul) — People of (= Believers; citizens; folks; friends; masters; owners, people; population; supporters; those belonging to; those entrusted to; users)
  • الۡكِتٰبِ — Ul-Kay-taa-bay — The Book (= n., The Divine Directive of Commands, Prohibitions and Regulations. Holy Scripture. See 002:003. A/t/a, ‘the Scripture (Jews and Christians)’ and ‘Book’)
  • هَل — Hull — Do (= Asking the question … Could there be; do you have any will; is it possible; would you like to. A/t/a, ‘Do you’)
  • تَـنۡقِمُوۡنَ — Tun-qay-moo-na — You pick on (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Bedevil; bully; criticize; harass; harry; object; persecute; pester; tease. A/t/a, ‘find fault,’ ‘you blame,’   ‘ye disapprove,’ ‘you persecute,’ ‘are you full of rancour’ and ‘hate’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon. A/t/a, ‘of,’ ‘with’ and ‘towards’)
  • نَآ — Naa — Us (= pro., m/g., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • اِلَّا  — Il-laa — Except (= Apart from; but; besides; excluding; save; unless. A/t/a, ‘for no other reason than,’ ‘for aught except,’ ‘for aught else than,’ ‘for the only fault,’ ‘because,’ ‘for any reason other than’ and ‘for no reason than’ )
  • اَنۡ — Un — That (= So that)
  • اٰمَنَّا — Aaa-mun-na — We have believed (= v., past., pl. 1st person. We have believed in the  Holy Qor-aan and accepted Islam. Admitted, affirmed,  approved, confirmed concurred, corroborated, entered,  evidenced, proved, testified and witnessed to have become Moslems. A/t/a ‘believe’ but that in the present tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • مَاۤ  — Maa — That (= All that; what; whatever; whatsoever. A/t/a, ‘which,’ ‘that which’  and ‘in (the Revelation) which’)
  • اُنۡزِلَ — Oon-zay-la — Was entrusted (= v., past., pass., s., 3rd person. Dispatched, given, granted inspired; revealed. Handed, laid, lowered, or sent down. Also, delivered; landed; provided; released; revealed; supplied. ** See Note 002:005a. A/t/a, ‘revelation That hath come,’ ‘has been revealed,’ ‘has been sent down’ and ‘is revealed’)
  • اِلَـيۡ — Elai — To (= Towards. A/t/a, ‘to’ and ‘unto’)
  • نَآ — Naa — Us (= pro., m/g., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — That (= All that; what; whatever; whatsoever. A/t/a, ‘which’ and ‘that which’)
  • اُنۡزِلَ — Oon-zay-la — Was entrusted (= v., past., pass., s., 3rd person. Dispatched; revealed; sent. See اُنۡزِلَ  above. A/t/a, ‘was revealed,’ ‘was sent down’ and ‘to others’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • قَبۡلُ — Qub-lo — Before (= Aforetime; ahead of; antecedent; earlier than; former time; older times; occurred or passed in prior period; previously; prior to. A/t/a, ‘aforetime,’ ‘previously,’ ‘before it,’ ‘before’ and ‘before us’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘Or is it’ and ‘Whereas’)
  • اَ نَّ  — Un-na — Surely (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘(perhaps) that,’ ‘you do that because’ and ‘because’)  
  • اَكۡثَر — Uk-tha-ra — Most of (= Greater or large number; majority; mostly. A/t/a, ‘most’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. This is the way how the Holy Qor-aan addresses men and women jointly)
  • فٰسِقُوۡنَ‏ — Faa-say-qoo-n — Miscreants (= n., pl., Who have misbelief or false religious faith. Who practice bad, abomination and contemptible ways that are loathed by and frowned upon. See Note 003:083. A/t/a, ‘rebellious and disobedient,’ ‘disobedient to Allah,’ ‘disobedient to God,’ ‘disobedient (to God),’ ‘transgressors,’ ‘wicked,’ ‘evil-livers,’ ‘Fasiqun [rebellious and disobedient (to Allah)]’ and ‘evil-doers’)
