The Holy Qor-aan 005:073
لَقَدۡ كَفَرَ الَّذِيۡنَ قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الۡمَسِيۡحُ ابۡنُ مَرۡيَمَ ؕ وَقَالَ الۡمَسِيۡحُ يٰبَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ اعۡبُدُوا اللّٰهَ رَبِّىۡ وَرَبَّكُمۡ ؕ اِنَّهٗ مَنۡ يُّشۡرِكۡ بِاللّٰهِ فَقَدۡ حَرَّمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيۡهِ الۡجَـنَّةَ وَمَاۡوٰٮهُ النَّارُ ؕ وَمَا لِلظّٰلِمِيۡنَ مِنۡ اَنۡصَارٍ
La qud ka-fa-ra ul-la-zee-na qaa-loo in-naul laa-ha Ho-wa ul-ma-se-ho ob-no mur-ya-ma
Wa qaa-la ul-ma-se-ho yaa ba-ni iss-ra-ee-la Au-bo-do ol-laa-ha rub-bee wa rub-bo koom In-na hoo mun yoosh-rik bay il-laa-hay Fa qud hur-ra-ma ul-laa-ho alai hay il-jun-na-ta Wa mau-waa-ho on-naa-r
Wa maa lay iz-zaa-lay-me-na min un-saa-r
Most certainly those who disbelieved had said, “Surely Allah He is the Messiah son of Mary.”
And the Messiah said, “ Listen the sons of Israel! Worship Allah, my God and your God. Anyone who sets up partners with Allah Then knows that Allah surely has prohibited to him the paradise. And the fire is his abode.”
And none among helpers are for the wrongdoers.
The text in the next seven (7) words is repeated in verses 005:073 and 005:074
- لَـقَدۡ — La-qud — Certainly (= Two words لَ (La) and قَدۡ (Qud) both mean inter alia … certainly, indeed, obviously, positively, surely, truly and verily. See our Commentary ‘2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect.’ A/t/a, ‘Most certainly’)
- كَفَرَ — Ka-fa-ra … (ul) — Disbelieved (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Denied, failed, misused, rejected or refused to thank, use or utilize God-given abilities, blessings, capacities, capabilities and opportunities offered and talents endowed. See Commentary Believe and Disbelieve. A/t/a, ‘they have disbelieved.’ But ‘they blaspheme,’ ‘do blaspheme’ and ‘disbelieve’ as a verb in the present tense, and ‘are disbelievers’ and ‘Unbelievers are’ as nouns, are no translations of the Holy Qor-aan that stated the fact as a verb in the past tense)
- ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Articles, persons, phenomenon or things. A/t/a, ‘who’ and ‘those that’)
- قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, pl., 3rd person. Announced; argued; claimed; declared; insisted; stated; persisted; professed; told. A/t/a ‘say’ (several authors) in the present tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan stated in the past tense)
- اِنَّ — In-na … (ul) — Surely (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘none but’ and ‘Lo!’)
- ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- هُوَ — Ho-wa … (ul) He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. He; him; it. Refers to Allah. A/t/a, ‘He is’)
- الۡمَسِيۡحُ –Ul-ma-se-ho(ob) — Messiah (= n., Refers to Jesus Christ. A/t/a, ‘the Messiah [Isa (Jesus)])
- ابۡنُ — Ob-no — Son (= n., Boy; male child)
- مَرۡيَمَ — Mur-ya-ma — Mary (= The mother of Jesus Christ)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘For’ and ‘whereas’)
- قَالَ — Qaa-la … (ul) — He said (= v., past, s., 3rd person. Announced; asserted; broadcast; conveyed; declared; elaborated; exclaimed; informed; insisted; maintained; preached; professed; stated; told. A/t/a, ‘said,’ ‘himself said,’ ‘(himself) said’ and ‘himself taught’)
- الۡمَسِيۡحُ — Ul-ma-se-ho — Messiah (= n., Refers to Jesus Christ)
- يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; pay attention; O)
- بَنِىۡٓ — Ba-nee — All children (= Followers; nation; tribes. progeny; off-springs; future generations. The vowel ‘mudd’ refers to all)
- اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ — Is-raa-ee-la — Israel (= The vowel ‘mudd’ refers to ‘All’ tribes or descendants from the 12 sons of Prophet Jacob)
- اعۡبُدُوا — Au-bo-do — You worship (= v. pres., pl., 2nd person. Beseech; live in given lifestyle; pray; praise; worship. A/t/a, ‘serve’)
- ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God. A/t/a. ‘Allah Who is’)
- رَبِّ — Rub-bay — GOD / LORD (= The Almighty Allah who fills all needs of all creatures. Cherisher. Creator. Guardian. Lord Provident. Master. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we
and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
- ىۡ — Ee — My (= pro., s., 1st person., I; me; my)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- رَبَّ — Rub-ba — God (= The Almighty Allah. See رَبِّ above)
- كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. The Holy Qor-aan generally addresses men and women jointly this way)
- اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily)
- هٗ — Hoo — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid shown,
- specified or stated article, thing or person)
- مَنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; who; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso. A/t/a, ‘He that’)
- يُّشۡرِكۡ — Yoosh-rik — Sets up (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Ascribes; associates. See Note 004:037. A/t/a, ‘joins gods with God, ‘associates (others),’ ‘associates partners,’ ‘ascribeth partners,’ ‘ascribes partners,’ ‘worships other gods’ and ‘sets up partners (in worship)’
- بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ means with, A/t/a, ‘with,’ ‘unto’ and ‘besides’)
- اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
- قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= Definitely. See قَدۡ above)
- حَرَّمَ — Hur-ra-ma … (ul) — He Prohibited (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Banned; barred; disallowed; disapproved; excluded; forbidden; interdicted; made illegal; outlawed; not authorized or permitted; proscribed; stopped. A/t/a, ‘has forbidden’ and ‘hath forbidden.’ But ‘will forbid’ in the present or future tense and ‘shall be forbidden’ in the passive voice are no translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
- اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- عَلَيۡ — Alai — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over;
- هِ — Hay … (il) –Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person. A/t/a, ‘him has Allah forbidden’)
- الۡجَـنَّةَ — Jun-na-ta — The Paradise (= n., s., Big grove; Coppice. Thicket. Garden of ultimate and everlasting beauty and greenery. Place of immense beauty, peace and tranquility which is beyond human comprehension. Heavens. Orchard. A/t/a, ‘Paradise,’ ‘Heaven’ and ‘Garden’)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- مَاۡوٰ — Mau-waa — Abode (= n., Abode; destination; dwelling; habitation; home; housing; residence; refuge; resort; resting place; ultimate end of journey. A/t/a, ‘will be … abode,’ will be … resort,’ ‘resort will be,’ ‘abode is’ and ‘shall be cast into’)
- هُ — Hoo … (n) — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
- النَّارُ — Naa-ro — Fire (= Rapid sustained chemical reaction releasing heat and light. Also, a source for light and heat. A/t/a, ‘fire of Hell’)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- مَاۤ — Maa — None / No (= Absolutely not; no; never. A/t/a, ‘None,’ “will … Be no,’ ‘will be no,’ ‘shall have no,’ ‘will have no’ and ‘are no’)
- لِل — Lay … (iz) — For / to (= Concerning, regarding; relative to; intended for; to; towards)
- ظّٰلِمِيۡنَ — Zaa-lay-mee-na — Wrongdoers (= n., pl. Those who act improperly, inappropriately, unjustly, unreasonably or with no just cause. See verses 002:096, 002:125, etc. A/t/a, ‘wrongdoers,’ ‘evil-doers,’ ‘transgressors,’ ‘workers of iniquity,’ ‘evil-doers’ and ‘Zalimun (Polytheists and wrongdoers’)
- مِنۡ — Min — Among (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
- اَنۡصَارٍ Un-saar — Helpers (= n., pl., The word is used for the bad like accomplices back-benchers, henchmen and partners in crime and grime [as stated in 002:271] and the good like aides, assistants, promoters and supporters – [as stated in 003:053, 005:073. A/t/a, ‘helpers,’ ‘no one to help’ and ‘shall help’)
** Note 005:073. This verse has used twice the word قَدۡ (qud) and twice the word اِنَّ (in-na). Both these words have similar meanings such as certainly, surely, indeed, etc.
The emphasis repeated four times in one verse shows the significance of its message. Accurately translating this verse requires that the said significance is also repeated
A reader of English literature may find such repetition a bit unusual. But the importance of the message emphasized four times in one verse merits that it must be conveyed.
