The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                 005:074

 

لَـقَدۡ كَفَرَ الَّذِيۡنَ قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّ اللّٰهَ ثَالِثُ ثَلٰثَةٍ‌ ۘ وَمَا مِنۡ اِلٰهٍ اِلَّاۤ اِلٰـهٌ وَّاحِدٌ  ؕ    وَاِنۡ لَّمۡ يَنۡتَهُوۡا عَمَّا يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ لَيَمَسَّنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا مِنۡهُمۡ عَذَابٌ   اَ لِيۡمٌ‏

 

La-qud-ka-fa-rul-la-zee-na-qaa-loo-in-nul-laa-ha                                                                        Thaa-lay-tho-tha-laa-tha-ta                                                                                                              Wa-maa-min-elaa-hin-il-laa-elaa-hoon-waa-hid                                                                          Wa-in-lum-yun-ta-hoo-um-maa-ya-qoo-loo-na                                                                              La-ya-mus-sun-nul-la-zee-na-ka-fa-roo-min-hoom-azaa-boon-alee-m

 

Most certainly those who disbelieved had said. “Surely Allah                                    Is the third of the three.”                                                                                                            And none among gods is there except One God.                                                            And if they do not stop from what they say                                                                  Surely painful punishment will reach those who among them disbelieved.

 

The text in the next seven (7) words is repeated in verses 005:073 and 005:074

  • لَـقَدۡ — La-qud — Certainly (= Two words  لَ  (La) and  قَدۡ  (Qud) both mean inter alia … certainly, definitely, indeed, obviously, positively, surely, truly and verily. See our Commentary ‘2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect.’ A/t/a, ‘Most certainly’)
  • كَفَرَ — Ka-fa-ra — Disbelieved (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Denied, failed, misused, rejected or refused to thank, use or utilize God-given abilities, blessings, capacities, capabilities and opportunities offered and talents endowed. See Commentary Believe and Disbelieve. A/t/a, ‘they have disbelieved.’ But ‘they blaspheme,’ ‘do blaspheme’ and ‘disbelieve’ as a verb in the present tense, and ‘are disbelievers’ and ‘Unbelievers are’ as nouns, are no translations of the Holy Qor-aan that stated the fact as a verb in the past tense)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Articles, persons, phenomenon or things. A/t/a, ‘who’ and ‘those that’)
  • قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, pl., 3rd person. Announced; argued; claimed; declared; insisted; stated; persisted; professed; told. A/t/a ‘say’ (several authors)  in the present tense is no translation of what  the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • اِنَّ — In-na … (ul) — Surely (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly;  indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘none but’ and ‘Lo!’)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • ثَالِثُ — Tha-lay-tha-to — Third (= n., Refers to the Christian doctrine that God is a Third Of the Three persons who jointly make what God is. A/t/a, ‘one of three’ and ‘the third’)
  • ثَلٰثَةٍ‌ — Tha-laa-tha-tin — Three (= Ref to the Trinity theory professed by Christian church. A/t/a, ‘in a Trinity,’ ‘of the three’ and ‘of the three (in Trinity)’
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; see وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘for there is,’ ‘when’ and ‘But infect there is’)

  • مَاۤ — Maa — No (= Absolutely not; never; no; not at all. A/t/a, ‘There is no one … but’ and ‘there is no other, cannot be and will never be’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • اِلٰهٍ — Elaa-hin — God (= n., The Almighty God. A/t/a, ‘God,’ ‘worthy of worship,’ and ‘Ilah (god) (‘none who has the right to be worshipped’)
  • اِلَّا — Il-laa — Except (= Apart from; but; besides; excluding; save; unless)
  • اِلٰـهٌ — Elaa-hoon — God (= n., The Almighty God)
  • وَّاحِدٌ — Waa-hay-doon — One (= n., A single being, entity or individual. Monotonous.  A/t/a, ‘but one God’)
  • وَ  — Wa  — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; whenever)
  • لَمۡ  — Lum — Not (= Absolutely never; no, not at all. A/t/a, ‘do not’)
  • يَنۡتَهُوۡا — Yun-ta-hoo — Stop (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Cease; desist; end; refrain.  Prevent or restrain themselves)
  • عَمَّا — Um-maa — From what (= This is a combination of two words. The first word عَنۡ    (un) means ‘from or out of’ The second word  مَاۤ  (maa)  means ‘all that or what.’ Thus, عَمَّا means ‘from all that or from what.’ A/t/a, ‘from what,’ ‘from that which’ and ‘from’)
  • يَقُولُونَ — Ya-qoo-loo-na — They say (= v., pres., pl., m., 3rd person. Announce; broadcast; call; claim; contest; convey; declare; elaborate; explain; expound; inform; insist; present; profess; specify; speak; state; submit; tell; utter. A/t/a, ‘say’ and ‘so saying.’ But the noun ‘their word (of blasphemy)’ is no translation of the verb that the Holy Qor-aan has used)
  • لَ — La — Certainly (= See  لَ  (La) above. Certainly; surely; verily)
  • يَمَسَّنَّ — Ya-mus-sun-na — Will sreach (= v., pres., s., m., 3rd person. Certain to strike that won’t miss ever. Affects. Afflicts. Arrives. Befalls. Comes or Gets to. Hits. Reaches. Smites. Strikes. Touches. A/t/a, ‘shall befall,’ ‘will befall,’  ‘will … befall,’ ‘shall … befall,’ ‘will fall on,’ shall afflict’ and ‘shall be’)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons,  or phenomenon or things in masculine gender. A/t/a, ‘those who’ and ‘that’)
  • كَفَرُوۡا — Ka-fa-roo — Disbelieved (= v., past, pl., 3rd person. Denied, refused and rejected the Faith and belief in Allah. See كَفَرَ  above. A/t/a,  ‘disbelieve’ which is a verb in the present tense, or ‘the blasphemers’ and disbelievers’ which are nouns, are not the translations of the word that the Holy Qor-aan has used)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From among (= Among, from or out of the class or category of many articles, counts, things, persons or phenomenon. A/t/a, ‘from among,’ among’ and ‘of’) 
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • عَذَابٌ — Azaa-boon — Punishment (= n., Appropriate, due and fair agony, chastisement, doom, hard task, penalty, punishment, recompense, scourge, torment or torture.  A/t/a,  ‘punished’ but this verb is no translation of the noun that the Holy Qor-aan has used)
  • اَلِيۡمٌ — Aa-lee-moon — Painful (= adj., Grievous; hard task;  painful; severe; stern; terrible;  woeful. A/t/a, ‘sternly’)
