The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                  005:085

 

وَمَا لَـنَا لَا نُؤۡمِنُ بِاللّٰهِ وَمَا جَآءَنَا مِنَ الۡحَـقِّۙ وَنَطۡمَعُ اَنۡ يُّدۡخِلَـنَا رَبُّنَا مَعَ الۡقَوۡمِ الصّٰلِحِيۡنَ‏

 

Wa-maa-la-naa-laa-noe-may-no-bil-laa-hay-wa-maa-jaa-aa-nul-huq-quay                        Wa-nut-ma-o-un-yood-khay-la-naa-rub-bo-naa-ma-ul-qao-mis-sua-lay-hee-n

 

And why won’t we believe Allah when the Truth has reached us                            And we are eager that our God enters us with the righteous people.

  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • نُؤۡمِنُ  — Noe-may-no — We believe (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Become Moslem. Enter Faith. See Commentary Believe and Disbelieve. A/t/a, ‘we should … believe,’ ‘should we … believe’ and ‘to disbelieve’)
  • بِ  — B … (il) — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — What (= All that; what; whatever; when. See  مَاۤ  above. A/t/a, ‘that’ and ‘in that’)   
  • جَآءَ — Jaa-aa — Reached (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Arrived; come; reached; returned.  Also, in other contexts the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘has  come’)
  • نَآ  — Naa … (ul) — Us — (= pro., m/g., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • مِنَ — May-n… (ul) — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • الۡحَـقِّ — Huq-quay — The Truth (= n., Appropriateness; a just and fair thing. See also Note 003:103. A/t/a, ‘the truth (Islamic Monotheism)’
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘seeing that’ and ‘while’)
  • نَطۡمَعُ — Nut-ma-o  — Eager (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Cherish; covet; crave; desire; like; look forward; love; want; wish. A/t/a, we … ‘long,’ ‘earnestly desire,’ ‘earnestly wish,’ ‘wish,’ ‘are eager’ and ‘hope’)
  • اَنۡ — Un — That (= So that. A/t/a, ‘that’)
  • يُّدۡخِلَ — Yood-khay-la — Enters (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Admits ; allows; graces; honors. A/t/a, ‘should cause … to enter,’ ‘will bring,’ ‘should include,’ ‘should count,’ ‘should admit’ and ‘will admit … (in Paradise on the Day of Resurrection),’ But the noun ‘for admission’ is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has described in a verb)
  • نَآ  —  Naa  — Us (= pro., m/g., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • رَبُّ — Rub-bo — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures; Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
  • نَآ  — Naa — Our (= pro., m/g., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • مَعَ — Ma-a … (ul) — With (= adv., Also; as well; along with; besides; following; furthermore; in addition; in the company of; likewise; moreover. A/t/a, ‘along with,’ ‘with’ and ‘among’)
  • الۡقَوۡمِ  — Qao-mi … (ss) — People (= n., s., Addressees; attendees; fellows; followers; folks; group; nation; party; tribe. A/t/a, ‘people (Prophet Muhammad s.a.w and his companions r.a.u),’ ‘the company of’ and ‘folk’ [mmp])
  • الصّٰلِحِيۡنَ — Sua-lay-hee-n – The righteous (= n., pl., People who are always clean, good and holy acting piously and appropriately. Pious. Righteous. Upright. Virtuous)
