The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                 005:096

 

  يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لَا تَقۡتُلُوا الصَّيۡدَ وَاَنۡـتُمۡ حُرُمٌ‌ ؕ وَمَنۡ قَتَلَهٗ مِنۡكُمۡ مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَآءٌ مِّثۡلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ النَّعَمِ يَحۡكُمُ بِهٖ ذَوَا عَدۡلٍ مِّنۡكُمۡ هَدۡيًاۢ بٰلِغَ الۡـكَعۡبَةِ اَوۡ كَفَّارَةٌ طَعَامُ مَسٰكِيۡنَ اَوۡ عَدۡلُ  ذٰ لِكَ صِيَامًا لِّيَذُوۡقَ وَبَالَ اَمۡرِهٖ‌ ؕ عَفَا اللّٰهُ عَمَّا سَلَفَ‌ ؕ وَمَنۡ عَادَ فَيَنۡتَقِمُ اللّٰهُ مِنۡهُ‌ ؕ وَاللّٰهُ عَزِيۡزٌ ذُو انْتِقَامٍ‏ 

 

Yaa  auy-yo-ha  ul-la-zee-na  aa-ma-noo  laa  tuq-to-loo  us-sai-da                                          Wa-un-toom  ho-ro-moon

Wa  mun  qa-ta-la  hoo  min  koom  mo-ta-um-may-don                                                              Fa  ja-zaa-aa  hoo  mith-lo  maa  qa-ta-la  may-na  un-na-aa-may                                          Yah-ko-mo  bay  he  za-waa  ud-lin  min  koom                                                                                Hud-yun  baa-lay-gha  ul-kau-ba-tay                                                                                                Auo  kauf-faa-ra-toon  ta-aa-mo  ma-saa-kee-na                                                                          Auo  ud-lo  zaa-lay-ka  say-yaa-mun                                                                                          Lay  ya-zoo-qa  wa-baa-la  um-ray  he

Aa-faa  ul-laa-ho  um-maa  sa-la-fa                                                                                                    Wa  mun  aa-da  fa-yaun-ta-qay-mo  ol-laa-ho  min  ho                                                              Wa  ul-laa-ho  aa-zee-zoon  zoo  n-tay-qaa-m

 

Listen, you all who have believed! Do not kill the hunt                                                  When you are in the holy state of performing Haj

And whoever among you killed it intentionally                                                            Then his punishment is the like of the cattle he killed                                                    About which two just and fair persons among you decide                                          Arriving at the Kauba as a sacrifice                                                                                        Or the expiation is food for the indigents                                                                           Or the fasting that is just and equal to that                                                                        So that he tastes the result of his behavior.

Allah has pardoned what’s past.                                                                                              And whoever has repeated, then Allah will take revenge from him.                        By God Allah is the Mightiest, One Who can take revenge. 

 

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo many times

  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)
  • اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-ha … (ul) — You all (= All addressees; entire audience; whole lot of listeners)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Those articles, things or persons
  • اٰمَنُوۡۤ — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems. Accepted, acknowledged, admitted or witnessed their entry in Iss-laam. See Commentaries like Phrase Aa-ma-noo-wa-aa-may-loos … and Believe and Disbelieve that floodlight other aspects how the Holy Qor-aan has used this word. A/t/, ‘Believers’)
  • لَا — Laa — Do not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • تَقۡتُلُوا — Tuq-to-loo … (s) — You kill (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Destroy; end life; murder; slay; slaughter. In the pre-Islamic era when Arab Bedouins killed their daughters at birth (081:009), and other meanings of this word such as fight, oppose, perish, push back, retaliate, ruin, self-defense, etc., see 003:196)
  • الصَّيۡدَ — Sai-da — The hunt (= n., Game. Includes a kill by the predators trained to catch, prey or kill other animals as a hunt for the hunter. A/t/a, ‘wild game,’  ‘game’ and ‘the animals of hunt’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but;  also; more    over; though; when; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘whilst’)
  • اَنۡـتُمۡ — Un-toom — You surely are (= Combination of two words. The first word  اَنۡ means absolutely, definitely,  doubtlessly, indeed, positively, really, surely, truly and verily. The second word  تُمۡ  means you. A/t/a, ‘you’ and ‘you are’)
  • حُرُمٌ‌ — Ho-ro-moon — In the holy state of performing Haj (= n., One who is dressed in a special way to perform Haj or Om-rah. A/t/a, ‘on pilgrimage,’ ‘in a state of pilgrimage,’  ‘in the course Pilgrimage,’ ‘in the Sacred Precincts or in pilgrim garb,’ ‘on the pilgrimage,’ ‘in a pilgrim’s garb or in the Sacred Precincts’ and in a state of Ihram (Hajj or Umrah [pilgrimage])’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Whoever (= Anyone; whoever; whosoever; whom; whoso. A/t/a, ‘if  ‘any of you’ and ‘He that’)
  • قَتَلَ — Qa-ta-la — Killed (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Caused death. A/t/a, ‘killeth’ and ‘kills’ in the present tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has described in the past tense)
  • هٗ — Hoo — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the hunted prey)
  • مِنۡ — Min — Among (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons. A/t/a, ‘of’ and ‘amongst’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. The Holy Qor-aan has addressed men and women jointly this way)
  • مُّتَعَمِّدًا — Mo-ta-um-may-don — Intentionally (= adv., Consciously; intentionally; willfully. An act committed with determination, a premeditated wrong. A/t/a, ‘of set purpose’ and ‘by design’)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • جَزَآءٌ — Ja-zaa-o … (om) — Punishment (= n., Compensation; equivalent; penalty; reward; recompence; A/t/a, ‘he shall pay its forfeit,’ ‘he shall recompense by sacrificing’ and ‘shall make recompense’ but these verbs are no translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a noun)
  • مِّثۡلُ — Mith-lo — Like (= Duplicate; identical in nature; just like; the same way;  resembling; similar; substitute. Of the same kind, looks quality, shape or type. Of comparable recital. A/t/a, ‘Equivalent,’ ‘the like of,’ ‘the equivalent of,’ ‘like,’ ‘the equal of’’ and ‘the same’)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — What (= All that; whatever; whatsoever. A/t/a, ‘what,’ ‘one’ and ‘unto that which’)
  • قَتَلَ — Qa-ta-la — He killed (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Caused death. See قَتَلَ  above) )
  • مِنَ — May-na … (un) — From among (= Among, from or out of the class. See  مِنۡ  above)
  • النَّعَمِ — Na-aa-may — The cattle (= n. Quadrupeds like camels, goats, horses, ponies, sheep  or other cattle one owns. A/t/a, ‘domestic animal,’ ‘domestic cattle,’ ‘domestic beast,’ ‘quadruped’ and ‘eatable animal (i.e. sheep, goat, cow’)
  • يَحۡكُمُ — Yah-ko-mo — Decide (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Adjudicate; decide; determine; judge. A/t/a, ‘adjudged,’ ‘the judge to be,’  ‘which shall be judged,’ ‘as determined,’ ‘the same be determined’ and ‘to be determined’)
  • بِ  — Bay — With (= Literally the word  بِ  means with)
  • هٖ  — He — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid sacrifice)
  • ذَوَا — Za-waa — Two (= n., 2pl., Those who control, give, own or possess. A/t/a, ‘two persons,’ ‘two … persons’ and ‘two … men’)
  • عَدۡلٍ — Ud-lin … (m) — Just and fair (= n., Balanced; full of equity and fairness; just; proper. A/t/a, ‘just,’ ‘known for justice’ and ‘honest’)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the persons. See مِنۡ above)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. See  كُمۡ  above)
  • هَدۡيًاۢ — Hud-yun –As an offering (= n., Gift; donation; offering [all]; sacrifice)
  • بٰلِغَ — Baa-lay-gha … (ul) — Arriving at (= n., Being delivered to; reaching. A/t/a, ‘which must reach,’ ‘(the forfeit) to be brought,’ ‘the same to be brought,’ ‘to be brought,’ ‘brought’ and ‘shall present’)
  • الۡـكَعۡبَةِ — Kau-ba-tay — Kau-ba (= The Holy place of worship for Moslems)
  • اَوۡ — Auo — Or (= Alternatively; in substitution. A/t/a, ‘If the offender should not find this within his reach’ and ‘either’)
  • كَفَّارَةٌ — Kuf-faa-ra-toon — Expiation (= n., pl. Compensation; expiation; penance; recompense; reparation. Also, atonement; exchange; forgiveness. A/t/a, ‘the expiation shall be,’ ‘the expiation is,’ ‘as an expiation,’ ‘the expiation (of his sin),’ ‘he shall, in  expiation,’ ‘for expiation’ and ‘by way of atonement’)
  • طَعَامُ — Ta-aa-mo– Food (= n., Eating or feeding any food or eatable for subsistence.  A/t/a, ‘feeding,’ ‘he shall feed,’ ‘he shall have to feed,’ ‘to feed,’ ‘feed’ and ‘he should feed’)
  • مَسٰكِيۡنَ — Ma-saa-keen — Indigents (= n., pl., Homeless; needy; poor. A/t/a, ‘poor persons,’ ‘poor,’ ‘a certain number of poor persons,’ ‘a number of poor persons,’ ‘a number of needy persons,’ ‘needy persons,’ ‘the poor’ and ‘Masakin (poor person)’
  • اَوۡ — Auo — Or (= Alternatively; in substitution)
  • عَدۡلُ — Ud-lo — Just and equal (= n., Balanced; full of equity and fairness; just; proper. A/t/a, ‘equivalent,’ ‘an equivalent number of days’ and ‘during a corresponding number of days’)
  • ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka — That (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement; right here; such is this; that is how it is. A/t/a, ‘thereof,’ ‘its’ and ‘of it’)
  •  صِيَامًا — Say-yaa-mun — Fasting (= n., pain; suffering. A/t/a, ‘in fasts,’ ‘in fasting,’ ‘he shall fast,’ ‘fasting,’ ‘fast’ or ‘in Saum (fasting)’
  • لِّ — Lay — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘so that’)

  • يَذُوۡقَ — Ya-zoo-qa — He tastes (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Does or will … experience, feel,   get out, live through, suffer or undergo. A/t/a, ‘he may taste,’ ‘he should realise,’ ‘he may suffer’ and ‘he may know’)
  • وَبَالَ  — Wa-baa-la — Result (= n., Aftermath; consequence; misfortune; suffering; outcome. A/t/a, ‘the penalty,’ ‘unwholesome result,’ ‘gravity,’ ‘the evil consequences’ and ‘heaviness (punishment)’    
  • اَمۡرِ — Um-ray — Behavior (= n., s., Action; affair, conduct; deed; doing; fate; issue;  matter; problem; situation. In different contexts this word also means command, direction, duty, order or crime, offence and wrong. A/t/a, ‘deed,’ ‘offence’ and ‘what he  did’)
  • هٖ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
  • عَفَا — Aa-faa … (ul) — Pardoned (= v., past., s., 3rd person., Absolved, blotted out; afforded relief; corrected the error; effaced, excused; exonerated; forgave; forgiven; gave a pass, granted pardon / relief; looked the other way; overlooked errors, faults, wrongs, sins, mistakes or wrongs; relieved / removed burden. A/t/a ‘pardoned’ and ‘has ‘forgiven.’ But ‘pardons,’ ‘forgiveth’ and ‘forgives’ in the present tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • عَمَّا — Um-maa — From what (= This is a combination of two words. The first word عَنۡ     (un) means ‘from or out of’ The second word  مَاۤ  (maa) means ‘all that or what.’ Thus عَمَّا means ‘from all that or from what’. A/t/a, ‘that which,’ ‘whatever’ and ‘what’)
  • سَلَفَ‌ —  Saa-la-fa — Past (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Already completed, done, gone,  happened or occurred. A/t/a, ‘is past,’ ‘As for the past,’ ‘what happened in the past,’ ‘(of this kind) may have happened in the past,’ ‘might have happened in the past’ and ‘has gone before’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • مَنۡ  — Mun — Who (= Anyone; whoever; whosoever; whoso. See  مَنۡ  above)  )
  • عَادَ — Aa-da — Repeated (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Did again; reiterated; returned. A/t/a, ‘returns (to it),’ ‘returns to sin,’  ‘relapseth,’ ‘reverts,’ ‘does it again,’ ‘offends again’ and ‘commits it again’ but that verb in the present tense – or ‘For repetition’ which is a noun – are not a translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a verb in the past tense)
  • فَ — Fa — then (= After all this; hence; so; therefore; thus. See  فَ  above)
  • يَنۡتَقِمُ — Yun-ta-qay-mo … (ol) — Take revenge (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Avenge. A/t/a, ‘will exact … the penalty,’ ’will punish,’ will punish … for his offence,’ ‘will take retribution,’ ‘will take vengeance upon him’ and ‘He will avenge Himself’)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the persons. See  مِنۡ  above)
  • هُ — Ho — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the repeat offender)
  • وَ  — Wa … (ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • عَزِيۡزٌ — Aa-ze-zoon — Mightiest (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him is The Revered, The Highest, The Most Exalted, Honored and Respected. All-Mighty. Exalted in might and power. Mightiest. A/t/a, ‘Exalted’ and ‘Mighty’)
  • ذُوۡ — Zo … (on) — Master of (= Bestowed or endowed with, capable to force his will, master, owner or possessor. A/t/a, ‘Lord of,’ ‘able to’ and ‘All-Able of’)
  • انْتِقَامٍ‏ — In-tay-qaa-m — Revenge (= n., Avenging; enforcing justice with payback; exacting  recompense from one who has done wrong; taking revenge or vengeance. The prior word  ذُوۡ  makes this two-worded phrase mean The Avenger or One Who can    take revenge. A/t/a, ‘retribution,’ ‘Requite (the wrong),’ ‘the Avenger of Evil’ and capable of revenge’)
