The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                   005:114

 

‏ قَالُوۡا نُرِيۡدُ اَنۡ نَّاۡكُلَ مِنۡهَا وَتَطۡمَٮِٕنَّ قُلُوۡبُنَا وَنَـعۡلَمَ اَنۡ قَدۡ صَدَقۡتَـنَا وَنَكُوۡنَ عَلَيۡهَا مِنَ الشّٰهِدِيۡنَ‏

 

Qaa-loo-no-ree-do-un-nau-ko-lo-min-haa                                                                                      Wa-tut-ma-in-na-qo-loo-bo-naa                                                                                                      Wa-nau-la-ma-un-qud-saud-duq-ta-naa                                                                                         Wa-ta-koo-na-alai-haa-may-nush-sha-hay-dee-n

 

They said, ”We intend that we eat from it                                                                            And we comfort our hearts                                                                                                        And we know that surely you told us the truth                                                          And we continue being witnesses over it.”

           

  • ‏ قَالُوۡا– Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, s, m, 3rd person. Announced; broadcast; called;    conveyed; declared; informed; elaborated; explained; specified; stated; told. A/t/a, ‘They said’ and ‘persisted’)
  • نُرِيۡدُ — No-re-do –We intend (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Choose; determine; want; wish. A/t/a, ‘wish,’ ‘only wish’ and ‘desire’)
  • اَنۡ –Un — That (= So that)
  • نَّاۡكُلَ — Nau-ko-la — We eat (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Consume; partake. A/t/a,   ‘we may eat’ and ‘to eat’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon. A/t/a, ‘of’ and ‘out of’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. It. Refers to the food mentioned in                         the previous verse. A/t/a, ‘thereof’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘and that’ and ‘so that’)
  • تَطۡمَٮِٕنَّ — Tut-ma-in-na — Comfort (= v., pres., s., f., 3rd person. Bring to rest; fill; fulfill; make content; satisfy. A/t/a, ‘be satisfied that our Lord is All-Powerful,’ ‘we may satisfy,’ ‘to satisfy … (to be stronger in Faith),’ ‘be at ease,’ ‘may be at rest’ and ‘we may reassure’)
  • قُلُوۡبُ — Qo-loo-bo — Hearts (= n., pl., Refers to the ability to think, choose, decide and  act in an appropriate manner physically and spiritually. Mind. Inner soul. Understanding. See also 004:064)
  • نَآ  — Naa — Our (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a,  ‘and that’)
  • نَـعۡلَمَ — Nau-la-ma — We know (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Acquire knowledge; be informed;  become aware; learn. A/t/a, ‘to know,’ ‘we may know,’ ‘we may … know’ and ‘we may realise’)
  • اَنۡ — Un — That (= So that)
  • قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= This word lays emphasis like very certainly, surely, etc. See Note 004:049. A/t/a, ‘hast indeed’ and ‘have indeed’)
  • صَدَقۡتَ — Saud-duq-ta — You told the truth (= v., past., s., 2nd person. Spoken or stated the truth. A/t/a, ‘told … the truth,’ ‘thou has told … the truth,’ ‘thou hast spoken the truth,’ ‘spoken truth,’ ‘you … spoken the truth,’ ‘you have indeed told us the truth’ and ‘what you said to us is true’)
  • نَآ — Naa — Our (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • نَكُوۡنَ — Na-koo-na — We continue (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Become; confirm. A/t/a, ‘we ourselves may be,’ ‘we may be,’ ‘we may become’ and ‘we ourselves be’)
  • عَلَيۡ — Alai — Over (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over. A/t/a, ‘to’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid assurance. A/t/a, ‘it,’ ‘the miracle,’ ‘thereof’ and ‘thereto’)
  • مِنَ  — May-na … (ush)– From among (= Among, from or out of the class. See مِنۡ  above)
  • الشّٰهِدِيۡنَ‏ — Sha-hay-dee-n — The witnesses (= n., pl. Adducers, bearers or givers of evidence. Providers of proof. Testifiers who provide testimony. Witnesses. Also, approvers, assistants, attestors, bottle-holders, corroborators and helpers)
