قُلۡ اِنِّىۡۤ اَخَافُ اِنۡ عَصَيۡتُ رَبِّىۡ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيۡمٍ

 

Qool-in-ne-aa-khaa-fo-in-aa-saiy-to-rub-bee-aa-zaa-ba-yao-min-aa-zeem

 

Say, “If I certainly fear if I disobey my God the punishment of the awful day.”

 

  • قُلۡ — Qool — Say (= v., s, 2nd person. Announce; broadcast; call; convey; explain; inform; insist; maintain; proclaim; profess; propagate; state; tell. See Commentary ‘You say’ means.’ A/t/a, ‘tell them also:’
  • اِنِّىۡ — In-nee — Certainly I (= Combination of two words. The 1st word  اِنۡ  (in) means   absolutely, clearly, decidedly, doubtlessly, positively, indeed, really, surely, truly or verily. The 2nd word  ىۡ  is the pronoun for one in 1st person. A/t/a, ‘assuredly,’ ‘I would indeed,’ ‘Of a truth,’ ‘indeed, I’ and surely)
  • أَخَافُ — Aa-khaa-fo — I fear (= v., pres., 1st person. Be afraid or scared; fear. A/t/a, ‘have fear’)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; whenever)
  • عَصَيۡتُ — Aa-saiy-to — I disobeyed (= v., past., s., 1st person. Became disobedient. Denied, disregarded, flouted, rebelled against, refused to abide by or violated the command. A/t/a, ‘I disobeyed,’ ‘I were to disobey.’  However, ‘I disobey,’ ‘I rebel’ and “will never disobey’ are inaccurate in translating what the Holy Qor-aan has stated with a verb in the past tense)
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bee  — Lord Provident (= The Almighty Allah who fills all needs of all His creatures; Creator; Master; One Who Sustain; The Lord provident; The Ultimate Provider of Air, water, food and whatever we need to live and subsist)
  • ىَ — Ya — My (= pro., s., 1st person., I; me; my)
  • عَذَابَ — Aa-zaa-ba — Punishment (= Appropriate, due and fair agony, chastisement,  doom; hard task, penalty, punishment, recompense; torment or scourge. A/t/a, ‘retribution’)
  • يَوۡمٍ — Yao-min — Day (= s., A period, term or time that ends; juncture)
  • عَظِيمٍ۬ — Aa-zeem — Great / Awful (= n., Awesome; glorious, great; magnificent; mighty; tremendous. See Note 003:173a. A/t/a, ‘awful,’ ‘grievous,’ ‘dreadful,’ ‘momentous’ and ‘fateful’)
