The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                    006:028

 

○ وَلَوۡ تَرَىٰٓ إِذۡ وُقِفُواْ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ فَقَالُواْ يَـٰلَيۡتَنَا نُرَدُّ وَلَا نُكَذِّبَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّنَا وَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

 

Wa-lao-ta-raa-iz-wo-qay-foo-aa-lun-naa-ray-fa-qaa-loo                                                        Yaa-lai-ta-naa-no-rud-do                                                                                                                Wa-laa-no-kuz-zay-bo-bay-aa-yaa-tay-rub-bay-naa                                                                  Wa-na-koo-num-may-nul-moe-may-nee-n

 

And if you see when they stopped on the Fire and said,                                      “How sad for us. Wish we were returned                                                                            And not belie the Signs of our God                                                                                  And would be among the believers.”   

 

The sequence of next six (6) word is repeated in verses 006:028 and 006:031

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but;  also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • لَوۡ — Lao — If (= In case; under the circumstances; wish; would. A/t/a, ‘if,’ ‘if … but,’ ‘Could … but’ and ‘if … could but’)
  • تَرٰى — Ta-ra — You see (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Look; observe; ponder; view;  watch; witness. A/t/a, ‘you … see,’ ‘you could see,’ ‘you could but see,’ ‘thou couldst see,’ ‘thou couldst but see’ and ‘thou couldst only see’)
  • اِذۡ — Iz — When (= At the time or event; call to mind; recall; remember; think of the time, event, occasion or opportunity. Also, behold; consider; ponder over; reflect)
  • وُقِفُواْ — Wo-qay-foo — Stopped (= v., past., pl., 2nd person. Paused to reflect; stood. A/t/a, ‘made to stand.’ However, ‘are confronted,’ ‘are set,’ ‘they shall be made to stand’ and ‘they will be held over’ in the present tense or future tense are no translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • عَلٰى — Aa-la … (un) — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  • ٱلنَّارِ — Naa-ray — The Fire (= Rapid sustained chemical reaction releasing heat and light. Also, a source for light and heat. A/t/a, ‘Fire (making a full appraisal of it),’ ‘the fire of Hell’ and ‘the (Hell) Fire’)
  • فَ — Fa — And (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; so; then; thereafter; therefore; thus. Also, ‘and’)
  • قَالُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, pl., m., 3rdperson: All those men announced;        called; declared; told.  See Notes 112:002 and our Commentary ‘You say’ means’ A/t/a, ‘say,’ ‘they shall say,’ ‘they will say,’ ‘they will say then’ and ‘they will lament’ in the present tense or future tense are no translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!. A/t/a, ‘Oh’)
  • لَيۡتَ   — Lai-ta — How sad (= The word to express extreme regret and sorrow; woe;    pitiful. A/t/a, ‘Would that’ and ‘Woe to us!’)
  • نَآ — Naa — Us (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • نُرَدُّ — No-rud-do — We were returned (= v., past., pass., pl., 1st person. Revert; have another go. A/t/a, ‘we might return!,’ ‘we could return,’ ‘Would that we could be returned to the life again,’ ‘we were sent back,’ ‘we were But ‘sent back !’ ‘we might be sent back,’ ‘we could be sent back (to have a chance to mend our ways)’ and we were but sent back (to the world)’
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘then’)
  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • نُكَذِّبَ — No-kuz-zay-bo — We belie (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. We call it a lie; we refuse to admit. A/t/a, ‘would we … reject,’ ‘we would … now reject,’ ‘we would … reject,’ ‘we would …  deny,’ ‘would we … deny,’ ‘we would treat … as lies’ and ‘we would … cry to’)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word  بِ  means with)
  • اٰيٰتِ — Aa-ya-tay  — Signs (= n., pl of … An argument, corroboration, indication, insinuation, pointer, portent, sign, suggestion, symbol or token. A/t/a, ‘messages,’ ‘revelations of’ and ‘Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)’  
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bay Lord God (= The Almighty Allah who fills all needs of all His creatures; Creator; Master; One Who Sustain; The Lord provident; The Ultimate Provider of Air, water, food and whatever we need to live and subsist)
  • نَآ — Naa — We (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘But’)
  • نَكُونَ — Na-koo-na — We would be (= v., past., pl., 1st person. Turn into or will become and take the shape of. The word conveys ‘continuation from  a prior condition in the past to a new form in the future. A/t/a, ‘would be’)
  • مِنَ — May-na … (ul) — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things or persons. A/t/a, ‘of’)
  • ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ — Moe-may-nee-n — The believers (= n., pl., Adherents of Islam; those who enter the Faith, believe and follow the Holy Qor-aan, the Iss-laam and become Moslems. Men of faith. The faithful. A/t/a, ‘the believers,’ ‘true  believers,’ ‘these Who believe’ and ‘those who believe’)
