○ وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنۡ هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَبۡعُوثِينَ

 

Wa-qaa-loo-in-hay-ya-il-laa-ha-yaa-to-nud-doon-ya                                                                  Wa-maa-nah-no-bay-mub-oo-thay-nee-n

 

And they said, “Surely this here is nothing except our present life                      And we are not those resurrected.”

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • قَالُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, s, m, 3rd person. Announced; broadcast; called;    conveyed; declared; stated; told. See Note 112:002  and Commentary ‘You say’ means’ A/t/a, ‘they said.’ But ‘they say,’ ‘They assert,’ ‘(sometime) say’ and ‘They declare’ in the present tense is no translation of the past tense that the Holy Qor-aan has used)
  • اِنۡ — In — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily)
  • هِىَ — Hay-ya — This here (= pron., Over here; this present)
  • إِلَّا — Il-laa — Except (= Apart from; besides; excluding; save; unless. A/t/a, There is nothing beyond,’ ‘There is nothing but,’ ‘There is nothing except,’ ‘There is naught save,’ ‘There is no … beyond,’ ‘there is no (other life) but’ and ‘there is no … but this’)
  • حَيَاتُ — Ha-yaa-to — Life  (= n., A creature’s condition of breathing by inhaling and  exhaling. The quality shown by functions among other of growth and response to stimulation and reproduction by which living organisms are distinguished from dead organisms and inanimate matter. Extensions in living. Peaceful life with safety and security. Any measure to save and safeguard life, A/t/a, ‘(present) life’ and ‘this … present life’)
  • نَآ  — Naa —  Our (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us. Used with God’s name this is the authoritative way a higher-up talks)
  • ٱلدُّنۡيَا — Doon-yaa — The present (= n., Close at hand. Life … on earth, in the near or short term. The near life, of this world. The near one. The World at hand with its benefits, happiness or pleasures. The Hither, the opposite of the Hereafter or Life after death. A/t/a, ‘present,’ ‘of this world,’ ‘of the world,’ ‘on this earth’ and ‘this life’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • مَاۤ — Maa– No (= Never; not all. A/t/a, ‘never shall … be,’ ‘shall … not be,’ ‘shall not be,’ ‘shall never’ and ‘never shall’ )
  • نَحۡنُ — Nah-no — We (= pro., pl., 1st person)
  • بِ  — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with)
  • مَبۡعُوثِينَ — Mub-oo-thay-nee-n — Resurrected (= n., pl., Those brought back to life again or returned to life after their death. A/t/a, ‘Raised up again,’ ‘shall not be raised (again),’ ‘raised again,’ ‘raised,’ ’be resurrected (on the Day of Resurrection)’ and ‘shall we ever be raised to life again’)
