The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                               006:032

 

قَدۡ خَسِرَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَذَّبُوۡا بِلِقَآءِ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ  حَتّٰٓى اِذَا جَآءَتۡهُمُ السَّاعَةُ بَغۡتَةً قَالُوۡا يٰحَسۡرَتَنَا عَلٰى مَا فَرَّطۡنَا فِيۡهَا ۙ  وَهُمۡ يَحۡمِلُوۡنَ اَوۡزَارَهُمۡ عَلٰى ظُهُوۡرِهِمۡ‌ؕ  اَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُوۡنَ 

 

Qud-kha-say-rul-la-zee-na-kuz-za-boo-bay-lay-qaa-il-laa-hay                                                  Hut-taa-ezaa-jaa-ut-ho-moos-saa-aa-to-bugh-ta-ton                                                                   Qaa-loo-yaa-hus-ra-taa-naa-alaa-maa-fur-rut-naa-fee-haa                                                      Wa-hoom-yah-may-loo-na-auo-zaa-ra-hoom-alaa-za-hoo-ray-him                                        Aa-laa-saa-aa-maa-ya-zay-roo-n

 

Surely lost are those who denied meeting with Allah                                                Until when the Hour came upon them suddenly                                                    They said, “O sadness for us that we ignored.”                                                            And they carry their burdens on their backs.                                                                     Is it not evil what they carry?

 

  • قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= This word lays emphasis like certainly, definitely; See Note 004:049 and our Commentary titled the “2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect.” A/t/a, ‘indeed’)
  • خَسِرَ — Kha-say-ra … (ul) — Lost (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Destroyed; harmed in a big way; ruined; caused loss or harm. A/t/a, ‘Lost’ and ‘suffered a loss.’ But the noun ‘losers’ did not translate what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in a verb)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender. A/t/a, ‘they who’)
  • كَذَّ بُوۡا — Kuz-za-boo — They denied (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Belied; derided, denounced, disowned, opposed, misrepresented, negated; rejected. A/t/a, ‘cried lies to (the news).’ But ‘treat it as a falsehood,’ ‘reject’ and ‘deny’ as a verb in the present tense is no translation of the verb in the past tense that the Holy Qor-aan has used)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. A/t/a, ‘with’)
  • لِقَآءِ — Lay-qaa-aiy — Meeting (= n., Coming face to face; getting together; visiting. A/t/a, ‘meeting.’ But the verb in ‘they must meet,’ ‘they will ever meet’ and are ‘bound to face’ is no translation of the noun that the Holy Qor-aan has used)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • حَتّٰى — Hut-ta — Until (= By the end of the period or term; till the time. A/t/a, ‘until,’ ‘so much so,’ ‘so’ [daz, and ‘(they will go om denying it) until.’
  • اِذَا  — Ezaa — When (= At the time or event; call to mind; recall; remember; think of the time, event, occasion or opportunity. Also, behold; consider; ponder over; reflect)
  • جَآءَتۡ — Jaa-ut — Came (= v., past., s., f., 3rd person. Arrived; had come; reached; returned. In a different context the word can also mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘is on,’ ’comes upon,’ ‘cometh,’ ‘overtakes,’ ‘shall  come on’ and ‘will overtake,’ but that verb in the present or future tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has used in the past tense)
  • هُمُ — Ho-mo..(os) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • السَّاعَةُ — Saa-aa-to — The hour (= Appointed or Fixed Time; Day of Judgment; Time for Final Accounting; A/t/a, ‘the hour,’ ‘the Hour (of Resurrection),’ ‘the Hour (signs of death)’ and ‘Hour of Doom’)
  • بَغۡتَةً — Bugh-ta-ton — Suddenly (= All of a sudden; unexpectedly. A/t/a, ‘unawares’  and ‘unaware’)
  • قَالُوۡا — Qaa-loo  — They said (= v., past, pl., m., 3rdperson: All those men announced;        called; declared; told. See  Note 112:002  and Commentary ‘You say’ means.  A/t/a, ‘they say,’ ‘they cry,’ ‘they will exclaim’ and ‘they will say’ but that verb in the present or future tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has used in the past tense)
  • يٰۤ — Yaa — O (= Hearken; listen; pay attention; O.  A/t/a, ‘Ah,’ ‘Oh’  and ‘Alas’)
  • حَسۡرَتَ — Hus-ra-ta — Sadness  (= n., Anguish. Feeling of guilt, shame, regret, remorse or sorrow.  Pain from an unfilled desire. Sadness. A/t/a, ‘Woe unto,’ ‘Woe to us,’ ‘our grief,’ ‘the bitterness of our remorse’ and ‘Alas for us’)
  • نَآ — Naa — Our (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • عَلٰى — Alaa — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon. A/t/a, ‘for’ and ‘at’)
  • مَا — Maa — What (= All that, whatever, whatsoever or whenever)
  • فَرَّطۡ — Fur-rut — Ignored (= v., past., 1st person. Discounted; disregarded; flouted; neglected; unattended. A/t/a, ‘took no thought,’ ‘gave no thought,’ ‘neglected’ and ‘neglected much.’ But ‘neglecting’ in the present tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in past tense)
  • نَآ — Naa — Our (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Amidst. Among. Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or time. Also, about; concerning; in reference, regarding, relative to. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘of’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid matter. A/t/a, ‘this Hour.’  ‘it (the Hour, in our life)’ and ‘in our lifetime’)
  • وَ — Wa  — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘while’ )
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • يَحۡمِلُوۡنَ  — Yay-may-loo-na — They carry (= v., pres., pl., m., 3rd person. Bear; care; move; take. A/t/a, ‘will be carrying,’ ‘bear,’ ‘will bear,’ ‘shall bear’ and ‘they shall be bearing’)
  • اَوۡزَارَ — Auo-zaa-ra — Burdens (= n., pl., Burdens; consequence; loads, responsibility. A/t/a, ‘the burdens (of their sins)’
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • عَلٰى — Alaa — On (= Above; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon. See عَلٰى above)
  • ظُهُوۡرِ — Za-hoo-ray — Backs (= n., pl., Back bones; rears; spinal columns)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • اَلَا — Aa-laa — Is not (= This is a combination of two words. The first is  اَ  which is a question mark and asks. The second is  لَا  which means naught, never, no, none, not at all, nothing. The combination is used to draw attention to something very important. A/t/a, ‘indeed,’ ‘surely,’ ‘Ah’ and ‘Behold’)
  • سَآءَ — Saa-aa — Evil (= adj., Appalling; awful; bad; dire; dreadful; ghastly; horrific; immoral; malevolent; shocking; terrible; unpleasant; wicked; worst possible. A/t/a, evil and ’How evil is the burden’)
  • مَا  — Maa — What (= All that, whatever, whatsoever or whenever. A/t/a, ‘The burdens,’ ‘the burden’ and ‘that which’)
  • يَزِرُوۡنَ — Ya-zay-roo-n — They carry (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Bear; care; move; take. A/t/a, ‘burdens they will be,’ ‘they bear,’ ‘they shall bear’ and ‘burdens that they will bear’)
