The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                             006:035

 

وَلَقَدۡ كُذِّبَتۡ رُسُلٌ مِّنۡ قَبۡلِكَ فَصَبَرُوۡا عَلٰى مَا كُذِّبُوۡا وَاُوۡذُوۡا حَتّٰٓى اَتٰٮهُمۡ نَصۡرُنَا‌ ۚ وَلَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمٰتِ اللّٰهِ‌ ۚ وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَكَ مِنۡ نَّبَاِى الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَ ‏

 

Wa-la-qud-koz-zay-but-ro-so-loon-min-qub-lay-ka                                                                      Fa-sa-ba-roo-alaa-maa-kooz-zay-boo-wa-oo-zoo                                                                          Hut-ta-aa-taa-hoom-nus-ro-naa                                                                                                    Wa-laa-mo-bud-day-lo-lay-ka-lay-maa-til-laa-hay                                                                      Wa-la-qud-jaa-aa-ka-min-na-ba-il-mor-sa-lee-n

 

And surely messengers before you were denied                                                              And they acted patiently despite their being denied and distressed                        Till Our help reached them                                                                                                  And there is no changer for Allah’s words.                                                                    And surely the news about the messengers has come to you.

  

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • لَـقَدۡ — La-qud — Certainly (= Combination of two words. Both words  لَ  (La) and قَدۡ  (Qud) mean almost the same i.e., certainly, clearly, indeed, really, truly, surely, verily. See Note 004:049 and our Commentary titled the “2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect.” A/t/a, ‘also,’ ‘indeed,’ ‘Indeed … already’ and ‘verily’)
  • كُذِّبَتۡ — Kooz-zay-but — Denied (= v., past., pass., f/g., s., 3rd person. Denied. Treated as liars. A/t/a, ‘rejected,’ ‘were rejected,’ ‘have been rejected,’ ‘have been denied,’ ‘were denied,’ ‘have cried lies to’ and ‘accused of lying’ )
  • رُسُلٌ — Ro-so-loon — Messengers (= n., pl. Apostles. Messengers.  Prophets. Saints. A/t/a, ‘Other apostles’ and ‘(many) Messengers’)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • قَبۡلِ — Qub-lay — Before (= Earlier, former, older, past or prior times. Aforetime. Ahead. Something that happened or occurred in prior periods antecedently, historically and previously)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is ‘you (O Muhammad s.a.w).See Note 002:005. A/t/a, ‘thee’)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus. A/t/a, ‘and’ and ‘but’)
  • صَبَرُوۡا — Sa-ba-roo — Acted patiently (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Patiently tolerated; persevered; persisted. A/t/a, ‘they were patient,’ they remained patient,’ ‘with patience and constancy they bore,’ ‘with patience they bore,’ ‘they patiently bore,’ ‘they patiently  persevered’ and ‘they continued steadfast’)
  • عَلٰى — Alaa — Despite (= Above; against; before; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon. A/t/a,  ‘notwithstanding,’ ‘when,’ ‘inspite of,’ ‘under’ and ‘with’)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever at such time; when)
  • كُذِّبُوۡا — Kooz-zay-boo — Being denied (= v., past., pass., m., pl., 3rd person. Belied. Rejected. Treated as liars. A/t/a, ‘rejected,’ ‘their having been rejected’ and ‘accused.’ But the nouns in ‘their rejections,’ ‘rejection and persecution,’ ‘the denial’ and ‘disbelief ’ are no translations of what the Holy Qor-aa has stated with a verb)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • اُوۡذُوۡا — Oo-zoo — Being distressed (= v., past., pass., m., pl., 3rd person. Persecuted. Suffered. Tormented. Tortured. A/t/a, ‘persecuted,’ ‘were hurt’ and ‘were … constant.’ But the nouns in ‘their wrongs’ and ‘persecution’ are no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan  has stated with a verb)
  • حَتّٰى — Hut-ta — Until (= By the end of the period or term; till the time. A/t/a, ’till’)
  • اَتٰ — Aa-taa — Reached (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Arrived; blessed; rewarded. See 002:259. A/t/a. ‘did reach,’ ‘came to’ and ‘came down to’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • نَصۡرُ — Nus-ro — Help (= n., Aid; assistance; comfort; rescue; succor; support)
  • نَآ — Naa — Our (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us. Used with God’s name this is the authoritative way a higher-up talks)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘for’)
  • لَا — Laa — No (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial; total negation. A/t/a, ‘There is none’ and ‘none’)
  • مُبَدِّلَ — Mo-bud-day-lo — Changer (= n., The person who can alter, change, make difference; modify, or vary the direction in which things move. A/t/a, ‘can change,’ ‘to change,’ ‘does … change,’ ‘to alter’ and ‘can alter’ are verbs and no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has described in a noun)
  • لِ — Lay … (in) — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • كَلِمٰتِ — Ka-lay-maa-t(il)– Words (= n., pl. Affirmations; announcements; assignments;  commands; declarations; inspirations; messages; phrases; prayers; promise; proofs. pronouncements; revelation; signs; statement. A/t/a, ‘the Words (And decrees),’ ’the Words (Decisions),’ ‘the decrees,’ ‘the decisions’ and ‘promise’)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • لَـقَدۡ — La-qud — Certainly (= Combination of two words. See  لَـقَدۡ  above. A/t/a, ‘Already)
  • جَآءَ — Jaa-aa — Come (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Arrived; reached; returned. Also, in different contexts the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘hast … received,’ ‘has … come,’ ‘have … come,’ ‘have received,’ ‘there hath reached’ and ‘heard of’)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. See كَ above)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class. See  مِنۡ  above)
  • نَّبَاِى — Na-ba … (il) — News (= n., Announcement; information; story; tale; tidings.   A/t/a, ‘Some account,’ ‘some information about,’ ‘the information (news),’ ‘some of  the tidings of,’ ‘(somewhat) of the tidings,’ ‘tidings’ and ‘some of the news’)
  • الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَ — Mor-sa-leen — Messengers (= n., Apostles. Deputies. Messengers. Prophets. Saints. A/t/a, ‘past Messengers,’ ‘the Messengers (We sent before),’ ‘Messengers (gone before),’ ‘Messengers (before you)’ and ‘Messengers before you’)
