The Holy Qor-aan 006:036
وَاِنۡ كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيۡكَ اِعۡرَاضُهُمۡ فَاِنِ اسۡتَطَعۡتَ اَنۡ تَبۡتَغِىَ نَفَقًا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ اَوۡ سُلَّمًا فِى السَّمَآءِ فَتَاۡتِيَهُمۡ بِاٰيَةٍ ؕ وَلَوۡ شَآءَ اللّٰهُ لَجَمَعَهُمۡ عَلَى الۡهُدٰى فَلَا تَكُوۡنَنَّ مِنَ الۡجٰهِلِيۡنَ
Wa-in-kaa-na-ka-bo-ra-alai-ka-aiy-raa-dzo-hoom Fa-aiy-nis-ta-tau-ta-un-tub-ta-ghee-na-fa-qun-fil-ur-dzay Auo-sool-la-mun-fis-smaa-aiy Fa-ta-tee-hoom-bay-aa-ya-tin
Wa-lao-shaa-ul-laa-ho-la Ja-ma-hoom-alul-ho-daa Fa-laa-ta-koo-nun-na-may-nul-jaa-hay-lee-n
And if their desertion became heavy on you Then if able to seek a passage into the earth Or a stairstep into the sky Then come to them with a sign.
And if Allah chose, He surely Would have gathered them all on the Guidance. So, don’t you be among the ignorant.
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
- اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; whenever)
- كَانَ — Kaa-na — Became (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; used to; went on; were doing. Words has or had always been indicate endless continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘is’)
- كَبُرَ — Ka-bo-ra — Became heavy (= v., past., pass., s., 3rd person. Became a grave, great, massive, serious or severe concern. Became very big in transgression. Mattered big. Offended greatly. A/t/a, ‘bears hardly,’ ‘is grievous,’ ‘hard,’ ‘is hard … (to bear),’ ‘is hard to bear’ and ‘is … (and you cannot be patient of their harm to you)’
- عَلَيۡ — Alai — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; over. A/t/a, ‘upon,’ ‘unto’ and ‘to’)
- كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is ‘you (O Muhammad s.a.w.’ See Note 002:005. A/t/a, ‘you,’ ‘on thy mind,’ ‘thee’ and ‘you find’)
- اِعۡرَاضُ — Aiy-raa-dzo — Desertion (= n. Abandonment; aversion; departure; dislike; distaste; disappearance; disloyalty; getting back; indifference; neglect; return; reversal; separation; turning away. A/t/a, ‘aversion,’ ‘aversion (… from that with which you have been sent),’ ‘spurning’ and ‘turning away’)
- هُمۡ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs. A/t/a, ‘of the disbelievers’)
- فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus. A/t/a, ‘then’ and ’yet’)
- اِنِ — Aiy-n … (is) — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; whenever)
- اسۡتَطَعۡتَ — (N)is-ta-tau-ta — You were able (= v., past., s., m., 2nd person. Could manage; had the ability and capability. A/t/a, ‘thou art able to,’ ‘you can’ and ‘thou canst’)
- اَنۡ — Un — That (= So that)
- تَبۡتَغِىَ — Tub-ta-ghee — You seek (= v., past., s., m., 2nd person. you can, get, seek, secure, try to find or want. A/t/a, ‘seek out’)
- نَفَقًا — Na-fa-qun — Passage (= n., Opening; spending; the way down; tunnel. A/t/a, ‘opening,’ ‘ tunnel,’ ‘way down’ and ‘a chasm’)
- فِى — F… (il) — In (= About. concerning; reference, regarding, relative to; in the matter of. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘in’ and ‘into’)
- الۡاَرۡضِ — (Il)-ur-dzay — The Earth (= n., Area; country; earth; ground; land; soil; territory. Also, life on earth, nation; people or society in general
- اَوۡ — Auo — Or (= Alternatively; in substitution)
- سُلَّمًا — Sool-la-mun — Stairstep (= n., Ladder; stairsteps; the way up)
- فِى — F… (iss) — In (= About. Concerning. See فِى above. A/t/a, ‘to,’ ‘up to,’ ‘unto’ and ‘into’)
- السَّمَآءِ — Sa-maa-aiy — The sky (= n., s., All above ground or earth and in the space above. A/t/a, ‘sky,’ ‘skies’ and ’heaven’)
- فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently. See فَ above. A/t/a, ‘and,’ ‘that’ and ‘so’)
- تَاۡتِيَ — Tau-tee — You bring (= v., pres., s., 2nd person. Fetch; produce; provide. A/t/a, ‘to bring,’ ‘thou mayst bring unto,’ ‘you may bring‘ and ‘by which you may bring’)
- هُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)

- اٰيَةٍ — Aa-ya-tin — A Sign (= n. An argument, corroboration, indication, insinuation, pointer, portent, proof, sign, suggestion, symbol or token. A/t/a, ‘a Sign,’ ‘some sign (to bring all to guidance)’ and ‘a portent (to convince them all)’
- وَ — Wa –And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- لَوۡ — Lao — If (= In case; under the circumstances; wish; would. A/t/a, ‘Had’)
- شَآءَ — Shaa-aa — He chose (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Allowed; approved; chose; decided; decreed; designed; determined; dictated; elected; enforced; liked; permitted; planned; pleased; preferred; selected; sanctioned; willed. The meanings ‘desired, wanted or wished’ do not apply relative to the Almighty God Who has all control, power and will to implement instantly what He intends. A/t/a, ‘enforced His will,’ ‘willed,’ ‘Allah pleased’ and ‘it were God’s Will’)
- اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- لَ — La — Certainly (= Absolutely; assuredly; categorically; clearly, definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; truly; seriously; sincerely; specifically; surely; verily)
- جَمَعَ — Ja-ma-aa — He gathered (= v., past., s., 3rd person, Accumulated; added; amassed; assembled; collected; gathered; piled up; reserved; stored; treasured; warehoused. A/t/a, ‘would … have brought … together,’ ‘would … have gathered,’ ‘could … have brought … together,’ ‘could have brought … all together,’ ‘could … have brought … all together (by force),’ ‘could gather,’ ‘could have gathered … together (all)’ and ‘would have given them’)
- هُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs. A/t/a, ‘them all’ and ‘them … one and all’)

- الۡهُدٰى — Ho-daa — The guidance (= n., The action, direction, instruction, means or set up to show the best beacon, correct course, enlightened entry, linear lines, proper path, right road, wise ways or the knowledge about what is most appropriate. A/t/a, ‘true guidance’)
- فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently. See فَ above. A/t/a, ‘So’)
- لَا — Laa — Do not (= Naught; neither; never; none; not. See لَا above)
- تَڪُونَنَّ — Ta-koo-nun-na — You be (= v., pres., s., 2nd person. Turn into. A/t/a, ‘be,’ ‘be thou’ and ‘be … thou’)
- مِنَ — May-n … (ul) — Among (= From the class, category, count, kind, persons or out of A/t/a, ‘among the,’ ‘amongst those,’ ‘of the’ and ‘one of those who are’)
- الۡجٰهِلِيۡنَ — Jaa-hay-lee-n — Ignorant (= n., pl., Those who lack knowledge; Unknowing. A/t/a, ‘who are swayed By ignorance (and impatience),’ ‘the unenlightened,’ ‘those who lack knowledge,’ ‘the foolish ones,’ ‘the ignorant,’ ‘Al-Jahilun (the ignorant)’ and ‘foolish, then’)
