وَهُوَ الۡقَاهِرُ فَوۡقَ عِبَادِهٖ‌ وَيُرۡسِلُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ حَفَظَةً ؕ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا جَآءَ اَحَدَكُمُ الۡمَوۡتُ تَوَفَّتۡهُ رُسُلُـنَا وَهُمۡ لَا يُفَرِّطُوۡن

 

Wa-ho-wul-qaa-hay-ro-fao-qa-aiy-baa-day-he                                                                            Wa-yoor-say-lo-alai-koom-haf-zah                                                                                                Hut-taa-ezaa-jaa-aa-ha-da-ko-mool-mao-to                                                                                  Ta-wuf-fut-ho-ro-so-lo-naa                                                                                                                Wa-hoom-laa-yo-fur-ray-too-n

 

And He is the Strongest in reign over His servants,                                                        And He sends upon you Security.                                                                                        Until when the death has come to one of you                                                                    Our messengers pack him away,                                                                                          And they never default doing duty.  

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • هُوَ — Ho-wa — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. He; him; it. Refers to aforesaid shown, specified or stated article, thing or person)
  • ٱلۡقَاهِرُ — Qaa-hay-ro — The Strongest (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most and highlights that none more than Him is Strong and Mighty. A/t/a, ‘Supreme,’ ‘Irresistible,’ ‘Irresistible (Supreme),’ ‘all-Dominant,’ ‘Omnipotent’ and He reigns supreme’)
  • فَوۡقَ — Fao-qa — Over (= Above; on top of. over.. A/t/a, ‘(watching) from above over’)
  • عِبَادِ– Aiy-baa-day — Servants (= n., pl., Bondsmen; slaves; supplicants; true Believers who worship. A/t/a, ‘worshippers’)
  • هٖ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • يُرۡسِلُ — Yoor-say-lo — Sends (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Casts; conveys; delivers; directs;   dispatches; drives; forwards; inspires; lunches; posts; relays; remits. Sends off. A/t/a, ‘sendeth,’ ‘sends forth,’ ‘sets,’ ‘goes on sending’ and ‘appoints’)
  • عَلَيۡ — Alai — Upon (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; towards)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. The Holy Qor-aan addresses men and women jointly this way generally)
  • حَفَظَةً — Ha-fa-zah — Security (= n., pl. Angels by way of … defense, guard, precaution, protection and safety. A/t/a, ‘guardians,’ ‘guardian to watch over,’  ‘guardians (angels guarding and writing all of one’s good and bad deeds)’ nd ‘keepers’)
  • حَتّٰى — Hut-ta — Until (= By the end of the period, time or term; till. A/t/a, ‘At length’)
  • اِذَا — Ezaa — When (= At the time or event; call to mind. A/t/a, ‘at the time of’)
  • جَآءَ — Jaa-aa — Has Come (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Arrived; reached; returned. In different contexts the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘comes,’ ‘cometh,’ ‘overtakes’ and ‘approaches but this verb in the present tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • اَحَدَ — Aa-ha-do — One (= n., Individual; single. A/t/a, ‘one,’ ‘anyone’ and ‘any one’)
  • كُمُ  — Ko-mo … (ol) — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. See  كُمۡ  above)
  • الۡمَوۡتُ — Mao-to — Death (= n., After life has ended; downfall; end of life on earth; extinction; stupor. Total desolateness, demolition, destruction or ruin)
  • تَوَفَّتۡ — Ta-wuf-fut — Pack away (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Cause, complete, conclude, end, fulfill, pass, pack or send away in death or Transition. A/t/a, ‘take … soul,’ ‘receive,’ ‘carry away your souls’ and ‘cause him to die’)
  • هُ — Ho — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
  • رُسُلُ — Ro-so-lo — Messengers (= n., pl., Dispatchers; deputies. A/t/a, ‘Angels,’ ‘deputed angels,’ ‘messengers (- the angels)’ and ‘Our messengers (angel of death and his assistants’)
  • نَآ  — Naa — Our (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us. Used with God’s name this is the authoritative way a higher-up talks)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid deputies )
  • لَا — Laa — Never (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception. A/t/a, ‘not’ )
  • يُفَرِّطُوۡن — Yo-fur-ray-too-n — Default duty (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Fail to carry out directions;  disobey; ignore; neglect. A/t/a, ‘fail in … duty,’ ‘they fail … in the discharge of their duty,’ ‘they fail,’ ‘they neglect their duty,’ ‘they neglect (their duty) in … way,’ ‘they neglect’ and ‘without fail.’ But the noun in ‘they are … remiss’ is no translation of what verb the Holy Qor-aan has used)
